Hey alliance remember when you ganked my poor little goblin while he was leveling? WELL BURN FOR IT!!! haha.. i was around for this and everything else since ive been playing this game the entire 6+ years (including the before release beta) but the funniest time ive EVER had in WoW was the Lich King invasion. when i ran around as a Ghoul infecting horde and alliance alike :) now THAT kicked ass!

Word on the street is Blizzard claimed this was an accident. Yet the plague was spread by "Hakkar," which sounds suspiciously like "Hacker." Perhaps Blizzard had a prankster in their staff who intended for this to spread?

@2x2is22 Actually Hakkar is the final boss of Zul'Gurub.The plague was spread by a retarded hunter who was in one of the first groups to enter ZG.The pet got infected with the Corrupted Blood and the retard dismissed the pet because they wiped.And the dumbass decided to summon it in Ironfroge and infect all players. Sadly the other members that were in the raid were also infected by the disease and spread it to the rest of players. In hours Org and Ironforge were full of corpses

@ crimsongamer1 when you died you got to come back but the plague spread so fast you would just catch it again and die. i was reading somewhere that blizzard couldnt control it and they lost alot of money on it because people quit playing. alot of players lost there gold and gear and blizz had to go back and give it all back to them

I remember this outbreak hahaha. Luckily I was lvl 60 so I didn't die instantly. I recall it came from the ecounter with Hakkar in Zul"gurub. He would put this blood debuff on players and pets so it spreads to anyone within proximity. But when someone dismissed their pets with the debuff still on it remained there until resummoned IN A MAJOR CITY where all the chaos started

I have never played WoW but I read about this. The blood plague was an unintended pandemic that swept the WoW when the spreading curse escaped the cavern into the densely populated cities. Novice players would die almost instantly and the plague was impossible to wipe out completely until blizzard fixed the problem. The plague is now possible to spread but stops outside the cavern. This was actually studied for real world pandemic models. At least that's what they claim.

@unamestorm No, it isn't a virus. A new dungeon was released that had an end boss that could cast a spell "Corrupted Blood" that would gradually deplete your Health. The mechanic of the spell made it so that you could pass it to other players by being near them. It also was only designed for that dungeon, so leaving the dungeon would result in losing the curse. Unfortunately, you could keep it using a teleportation spell. The Plague ensued, and many Low-Level players died, and no one was safe.

This occurred when the instance ZG was released. One of the boss's had a disease that spread onto players. So hunters would get it on their pets and release there pets in major areas to start an infection... I was there on my server when some idiot did it in IF AH.

there was an incident like this but this was during the plauge massacre. it killed every low level in the game when those who were in ironforge got afficted with the plauge. many tried to escape, but few lived to tell the tale. the only palce safe at that time was ratchet. but its over now.

Back in 2005, Blizzard introduced a boss called Hakkar, who would shoot a spell at a player. This spell would poison the player, along with anyone who drew too close to them. Due to bad programming, the poison was able to spread throughout the game world. Powerful players could keep themselves alive for long enough to reach cities, where the disease spread like wildfire. It could also travel via pets and minions, so it was extremely difficult to avoid.

i was playing when this happened. i was in stormwind. terrible. i survived because i was a level 70 knight elf druid. it was terrible. people dying everywhere, bones littering the floor. low levels dying in an instant. it was horrible. i hid in caves and stuff where no-one went so i couldnt catch it.
