This is by far the best interpretation of this aria-at least comparing to the ones i have heard.So sweet,gentle,with a rare male sensitivity and beautiful control.So different to other "macho" tenors who shout and sing a romantic aria as if it was a triumphant marching song! Wonderful,generally balanced presence by this handsome tenor

It's called impartial selection. Especially in an opera, it is more important the sound of a person than the looks. Thus the better singer wins... which is why in some operas you will find a black father, a white mother, an asian daughter, and a hispanic son but their voices!!

This scene is from the production by Zeffirelli which is difficult to find but available on DVD. Simply the best interpretation of Aida I have seen. Fluid and dynamic with none of the ponderous set pieces that we have seen so often. The cast are the right ages, (many at the beginning of their opera careers)and Aida is actually an Ethiopian singer. (And more than up to the task.) A must buy for anyone with a love of Verdi.
