  • heavy shit man that sounds just nice

  • I had to change the nut on mine to tusk composite bone. The original was horrible ...very dull sounding. After that it rang nice.

  • IF ANYONE WANTS ONE HIT ME UP

  • I have the same amp and have been thinking of getting the G-400 for the past few weeks.

Thanks for letting me hear how they sound together.

  • hi ive been playing acoustic for about a month now and so far the best songs i can play are johnny b goode and computerman and i love it and even though ive found parts ridiculously tricky ive got past them with hours and hours and hours of practice each day, so by summer i wanna get an electric guitar. sooo around 6 months, do you think this guitar will be good for my standard or will it be too much, ive played squiers before and i just hate them so i dont wanna get something crappy and cheap

  • I have the same vox, wich preset are you using in this video?

  • @Adriel2112 I think I used the AC30 model, with the gain around 4 and the main volume full up. Not sure about the others - probably something like treble/mid @ 6 and the bass around 4, effects off. --Mike

  • nice !

  • Great playing and beautiful guitar im gonna buy the same guitar , thats a standart epiphone sg 400 right ? did you make any changes on pickups or something ??

Will be glad if you response

  • @miyaaaaw Thanks - it's just a standard stock, off-the-shelf guitar.

  • @mikec717 She sounds beautiful thanks a lot for the quick response ,best of wishes...

  • is it good with clean sounds

  • i ahve that exact same guitar

  • great blues man!! thanks ;)

  • GREAT !!

  • I´ve opened the video to know something about the Epi, but I´ve found a very excelent blues player!!!

  • j'aurai fait les solos dans une autre note !

  • i like your blues man!

  • Cool!

  • Wow =D

  • whats the name of this song?

  • man smoke them strings. i was thinking about buying me a sg 400. how was the neck out of the box? did it have any fret buzz? great video. rock on!!!

  • @klv400 I got one man, and it's great. But with out of USA guitars, you could get a lemon or a gem. It's always 50/50 when not from USA.

  • sg's rock cant choose between sg or les paul

  • What amp model you using?

  • fuck man!

i think he made 435 bends in that "solo" he was trying to perform .. shit, if you don't stop bending så much i will crack your head right open!

and brooke125 is right, you're fucking insulting the genre of blues with your crappy "guitar solos"

  • so out of tune.

  • @lesshowerrings well sed mate

  • shit shit shit!!! ur shit ur a disgrace to blues

  • you shure can play them 4 notes you know very well

  • My parents said I can get a new amp for Christmas and they said the most they are willing to spend is 200 and I'm willing to spend 100 so I need someones opinion on what I should get. I saw the Fender Frontman 65R 65W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp and looks pretty good and it's 200 so i wont have to spend a thing. You think I should get that or is there something else better I can get?

  • @dclaver2 I'm in the exact same position, but i wouldn't for for the Fender Frontman if you want distortion, and if you don't feel like buying a pedal.I'd say you should go for the Vox VT30 It's a really nice amp that has tons of cool affects. You can also change the voltage output of the amp, so if you want to play quietly, you can still get that tone you get when you crank your amp to top volume.. .It's 270ish at Guitar Center, but it includes a 50$ rebate.

  • well i have a boss ME-50 so i want to know what would be a good amp with distortion going into it, and a good clean sound because i play a lot of songs with clean sound.

  • @dclaver2 the vox valvetronics line is great. the ad30vt should be around your price range.

  • I have the fender frontman 212R, it's the same like the 65R but mine has got 100w, its a very good amp y recomend to you, I'm spanish so, sorry my english ;)

  • Yo saber espenol poco.

  • jajaja ook , but did ou understand what I said?

  • yes

  • they are pretty loud ? holly shit, what a fail :D

  • wait what did i even say? it has so many bad comments that it got blocked -.-

  • Something from a price range of 200-300 $ what would someone recommend?

  • this guitar lol, im getting mine 2moro

  • I have a Shecter C1 classic Diamond series and a Boss ME-50 and a Line 6 15 watt amp. I think I need the new amp before the new guitar.

  • nice playing and effort....but keep it on the neck pickup and put more grit in the sound and it will be much better

  • lol

  • this tone is the sort of thing that made me get rid of my vox ad30vt

    they sound like garbage

  • I saw a store with an Epiphone SG for 90 bucks, I think i'm gonna get it, I don't play guitar too much or too well, but I think I'll get it and let the guitarist of my band borrow it, because he's learning slide and I've heard and read its good for slide.

  • 2008 AND 2009 Epiphone G-400 62 are Gibson USA Authorized SG's.

    1.Grover 12 to 1 machine heads.

2.Gibson designed humbucker pu's with Alnico 5 magnets.

3.locking tune o matic bridge and stop tail bar the same one used on Gibson SG's.

4.heavy duty tone and volume pots 500's also the same ones used on the Gibson SG's.

    5. there also hand crafted but in china to me i dont give a shit were its crafted just as long it has highend hardware and it does. craftmanship is A+ Gibson will stop soon.

  • theres only 3 Authorized Gibson USA Epiphone G-400 SG's and here they are!

    Epiphone G-400 62 SG

    Epiphone G-400 66 SG

    Epiphone G-400 61 Custom

theser are the only 3 Authorized by Gibson USA.

  • i would also place the Epiphone 2008 or 09 G-400 SG 62 IN THE TOP 15 BEST CRAFTED GUITARS.

  • Is this all improvisiing on the blues scales. I want to play like this but dont know what tabs to learn from

  • 2007 was the year that Epiphone/Gibson put all that highend hardware on the Epiphone G-400 62 SG. i know the tune o matic bridge and stop tair bar and the heavy duty 500's tone and volume pots are the same exact hardware you will find on most of your Gibson SG's.

  • and your playing is fantastic my friend!

  • angus young is shure as hell no edward van halen thats for shure. never thought young was that good.

  • thats a fuking big ass strap

    lmfao!!!!

  • Just like the 70's straps.

  • FIVE STARS FROM MEXICO

  • Very repetative, lacks feel, timing and phrasing.

  • Dude what does Angus young do? REPEATS IDEAS AND TWEAKS THEM. I will say there needs to be more feeling and more practice but you must admit that it is pretty ok, right?

  • lots of the bends are flat and sound awful, repating the same thing over and over without much variation ISNT what angus does. its not a bad sarting point but it needs a lot more work. Listen to my "blueday"

  • Ok I only read your thingy while I was a fourth of the way thru and now I totally agree with what you wrote sorry about the mis-um whatever the word is.....

  • Hey man, five the backin' track of this blues, i'll post you a video-answer, promised ;)

  • great vid man! nice blues, nice sound!! only thing i absolutely hate about this video is that its only 4 mins long!! :p

  • haha, I have almost the same equipment as you! I have a Vox DA50, worn brown epiphone SG g400 faded and a pink/yellow wildkat with golden hardware..

    awesome!

  • Great blues sound!...I have the same amp and just bought (but awaiting delivery) the Epi SG400....main reason I bought it was I cant seem to get the Angus Young sound right on my tele or strat....I am only 6 months or so in but really serious about my practice...just about learnt "you shook me all night long"...any recommendations for settings for this one? as Angus didnt use much effects except a little delay and reverb from what I read up.

  • Thanks - I think you'll find the SG will get you a lot closer to that sound than a Strat or Tele will (although I've found that Teles are really versatile and can mimic other guitars pretty well). Still, the SG is a big part of it.

I'd start with one of the models in the AC30 to 80's Marshall range, with the gain in the 40% to 50% range and EQs mediumish and just go from there. Don't go nuts with the gain too quickly - the sound you're looking for is med. clean, with some grit sitting on top.

  • My son bought a light blue metallic SG 400 and it's great, great amp you have their also. He wants a Gibson GT, get a job boy!!

  • playing guitar for 6 months and u have a strat, a tele and an sg?

  • i so want this guitar! I'm using a shit strat replica. the SG is the loyal beast! it does what you want and tells everyone to fuck off!

  • your out of tune on that verey first note you hit part from that awesome playing

  • Oh, I think there are a few more dodgy notes than that first one!

  • nice man i have same amp and same guitar but my sg is black

  • i've got a g-400 that i took apart but i never liked the tone i got from it, i had a shitty solid state amp at the time though, you make it sound good, now i wish i hadnt taken it apart

  • can it be that the sg is quite bigger that the les paul?

  • amazing playing

  • I got the sweatshirt from a client. Send me a USC one, and I'll wear it in my next video.

  • fuck alabama

    usc all the way bitch

    good playing though

  • dude this is so Led Zeppelinish keep it up man you rock ass

  • I don't see the feeling. That's what blues is all about.

  • hbieb has issues saying just cause possum

  • youre fucking amazing

  • very nice, how much did that cost?

  • around 400 bucks

  • very good but what settings are you using on the vox to get it so bluesy???

  • It's the AC30 model, with everything set about halfway up, maybe 60% on the gain. Nothing tricky.

  • thanks i'll give it a go:)

  • does this guitar come in only the light cherry or is there a dark finish too?

  • it comes in cherry, brown, and black. There are also sunburst models and custom colors

  • super blues what amp you choose on the valvetronic and effect

  • Thank you - AC30 model about 50% on everything with gain up just a bit more. Very vanilla settings!

  • watch those bends!

  • Yeah, I know, I go sharp a bunch. Check out my Epi Les Paul video for some real microtonality. -Mike

  • can you tell me how wide the neck is at the 12th fret,

thanks anyway, great playing btw ;)

  • I have this guitar too and even if it doesnt sound that bad.. Its just unplayable to me :( The neck is waaay to thick for my hands... sustain is pretty low too. I bought a Gibson special faded sg after this epiphone. Well.. for 250€ more than the epi's I got a 10 times better guitar... the gibson's just totally different.. sounds pretty better, is way lighter and has a great playability. So my advice to anyone is: save a bit more and get a gibson special faded, dont waste 300 € for the Epi

  • Dude idk where you're from but here in the UK Epiphone SG G400s go for like no more than £180 but the real Gibson SGs are like £600 at the cheapest.

  • Well, the Epiphone's price is almost the same as the one here in Italy, Gibson's are a little bit cheaper, since I bought my special faded for 550€ and usually see them at about 600 €... don't forget special faded sg's and standard sg's are kind of different guitars, specially in the quality level... if you're talking about standard sg's they're at about 1100 € here too...

  • all is the vox worth keeping or just another shitty amp?

  • Hey can you please give me the tabs to this song i really really wants it the rhythm is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • I have that same guitar and same amp

  • same with me! :D

  • same here wierd!!!

  • same here 2....!! lol

  • dude !!! ur strap is like umongus rite

    ???

    dude bye a new one

  • cucciolotto

  • i have this combo and i love it...

i can get almost any tone or effect out of it that i could dream of

  • Guitar sounds great ,but it`s out of tune or smthing maybe ur playing in wrong key... anyway great vid.

  • I was going to get this exact combo. SOUNDS AWESOME.

  • i no this is random but does any1 no who sang the original smokin in the boys room

  • Brownsville Station

  • anyone could tell me what is the stuff his using as his accompaniment ??? pls...

  • Fuckwit was a reply to Nirvanianvain but for some reason it went to the top of the list.

  • your phrasing angers me

  • Hmm... sounds good... but then again it sounds lucky... lucky to play the harmonies the right time... how long have you been playing? I don't mean to be rude...

  • sounds good dude! nice job!

  • I am glad to see someone playing one rather than showing pictures and petting it.

  • nice playing man you make these epi's sound good

  • Do you really lack that much of a life? Seriously, dude, no offense, but when I was 22, I had a lot more to do on a Saturday evening than post misspelled insults. But hey, whatever works for you, I guess.

  • Fuckwit

  • haha i already got the valvetronix 50 and am looking at buying this guitar so thanks for the video! seriously this came in handy!

  • DUDE no offense but um this sucks it easy

    it sounds good

  • Man, that was very nicely played. I'm impressed. Could you maybe play this same guitar lick with your Epi les paul?

    Keep rockin'!!

  • man i love my valvetronix. may i ask what your presets were?

    great playing too.

  • Thanks - check out the comment below yours for settings info!

  • Thanks - the strings are whatever came with the guitar - they feel like 10s, so I assume it's around a .10 -.48 set. Amp is on the AC30 model with gain and EQs all around 50% up, I think. It's been a year since I put the video, but it's a really basic setup - nothing tricky.

  • This is Kickass and proper Bluesy i loe soo much am a big an of this type of guitar playing

  • good stuff but do your self a favour and get a gibson les paul..

  • Thanks - actually, I do have one - a beautifully beaten-up faded-to-yellow '87 Custom with a mid-70's Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge - it's very Randy Rhoads.

  • some people aren't rich dude :)

  • save up dude like i did...:)

  • Well i would but i already have an american strat which is the best guitar ive played, and am saving up for a mac to mess round recording shit, in the future i will tho, but for now i only have the one guitar, my strat ;), so i would like a back-up most likely this guitar, i know they are good cos they have one at college which i use from time to time.

  • exactly the sane setup i want but i cant :(

  • another white guy tryin to do the blues god damn your not stevie ray vaughn robert johnson or any one else god damn

  • Thanks for taking the time to watch and post a comment. I know that some people would read your comment and think that it was posted by someone without much else to do, indicating little to no social - or other - life. I'm sure that's not the case, so we all eagerly await your videos so that we can comment appropriately.

Or perhaps yours was an ironic comment in line with the "Blues Hammer" reference in my info posting for the video. Let us know...

  • Thats very easy your going down and up on scales btw

  • Wtf lad so what he is not trying to be any of them he might play the blues because he likes it

  • Could maybe use a little reverb or delay. Other than that, it sounds great.

  • Thanks - I'm not a huge fan of reverbed blues guitar, but yeah, I hear what you're saying. My recording is pretty dry. -Mike

  • Yeah, I've got the same amp as you and will probably being buying a G-400 pretty quickly here. I play a little more along the lines of GNR style rock though.

  • The G400 is my favorite Epiphone of the three I have. I checked out your video - the one with the Ibanez, I think it was - it sounds great when you kick in the wah about 3/4 of the way through. Is that running through the Vox?

  • Yeah, I have it running through my Cry Baby, to a Tonebone Hot British and then into my Vox set to Blackface. I can't wait to try it with the SG, get more of a rock sound.

  • Hi there, my son wants a G400 and I have to ask (although I think I know the answer already) the g400 would piss all over the sg310 for several reasons, neck joint and mahogany being the the obvious ones, would you agree?

  • The 310 is alder, and the 400 is mahogany, and yeah, that's going to make a big difference in the overall sound. If the 310 is a bolt-on neck, then yes, it's going to sound different than the 400. My guess is that the 400 is going to sound thinner and have more bite than the 310. There are a few reviews on YouTube, so that might give you a better idea of the overall sound. I like the G400 I have quite a bit!

  • Thanks for that, I have seen a demo of the yamaha sg2000 which is solid mahog and although it's not everyones cup of tea it certainly hangs on to the notes for a looooong time so mahog is the way to go as you say. I think we may have to go hard and buy the 400. it's only $800 New Zealand dollars so what the hell.

  • timj41, If you havent bought one already, get someone to buy and send it over from here in oz. They sell for about $600 over here.

  • hey thanks for that, I will probably get one from our local rockshop here in Christchurch as it would be good to support the local guy, we bought some gear from him at Christams time so he may even throw us a deal.

  • Yeah, I hear you mate. Support your local.

  • i love youre feeling , nice sound very very nice sound !!!! god job :)

  • hey at guitar center they had an Epiphone SG just like this. it had the bars on the fretboard instead of dots. and the neck wasn't bolted on. the only thing different was the neck wasn't so thick and the black pick guard went all the way to the top of the body..what guitar was this?

  • im gettin the g-400 in 6 days

    :)

  • so u hav it today???

  • i got it 2 days ago actualli lol early present :P!!

  • i have the same guitar and a line 6 spider 3 amp and i love it, it has a great sound.

  • i was seriously thinkin' about gettin the same guitar and the same amp, and now i see your video i want them more EHHEHEHE thanx!

  • im gettin one today!! YEAH!!!! im SOOOOO excited!!! i played it last night in the store and it was BEAUTIFUL. i was originally gonna get a les paul, but i dont have enough money for one that i like, so im just get another SG. the one i have right now SUCKS. hahaha

  • I have one for now a year and it has never let me down. It a great guitar to almost every knid of music. The only think is that the neck is soooo heavy... its keeps falling down if I let go of it.

  • i got this guitar and i might get this amp next

    is it good?

  • hahaha, nice playing, sweet axe... and the term guitar hackery also somes up my playing hahah.

  • G-400 or G-400 Custom?

  • g 400

  • how much is one?

  • bout $400 i think

  • oh ok thanks

  • do u think this epiphone sg is for beginners only, because i play for 8 years and i really wanna buy this guitar and i dont know if i should.

    great job btw!

  • off course you could buy one. i once compared a epiphone sg-400 with a gibson sg standart and both sound nearly the same. maybe the gibson had a bit more sustain, but thats dispensable, because you would pay about 350€ for the epiphone and 1200€ for the gibson.

  • whats better, the epiphone sg 400 or the axl jacknife?

  • g-400

  • Im getting one of these used. Its in amazing condition; It must have been taken really good care of. Its only $399 =] PLUS its one of the last Korean made ones, so it is AMAZING quality

  • wooahhh how are those ones?? my ones china made, sounds alright the only thing that pisses me off abt it is it gets outta tune sometimes and theres fret buzz BUUT u can adjust ther bridge anyway LOOOL... SGs are sexy

  • dude,i have one,their really sick,and yes,SGs r sexy

  • When you bend stuff sharp it hurts, vibrato too fast, not too bad....

  • ive been guitar now for 2 years and its time i think i got a new one.i think this is the one i wil bye. would you recommend it for intermediate players? and does it have a good tone for pop/punk/alternative rock? also ive heard the neck drops when you let go of it, is that a big problem? thnx so much!
