  • Dig the soundtrack music at the beginning of this clip

  • Look at that freakin' H-U-G-E oil pan sump on that Mopar @ 0:54 !!!! And Ronnie Sox showing why pro Stock was REAL racing !!! And that "Charger" body on the 'Hawaiian' looks soooo bad to the bone !!!! Great vid !!!

  • Bernie was the track announcer... Keith Jackson called it for ESPN. I believe ESPN picked Keith up from announcing drags before he made the big time.

  • How cool is this? Buster Couch of NHRA sending them down the track, Bernie Partridge (my all time fave announcer) calling the action. California was home to many A/GS coupes and Junior Fuelers later on... always a great show. Garlits didnt make the first rear engine dragster (I think Tony Nancy did) but he and Connie Swingle (rip) made it work. Drag racing forever!!!!

  • MOPAR OR NO CAR

  • AWESOME ! I was at the 1971 U.S Nationals later that year . This brings back a lot of great memories !

  • @nitrofumes I was there too, I was in the bleachers at the finish line and I had this little tape recorder with me so i could record the sounds of the fuel cars there, I was 15 years old, One of The coolest racing events I've ever experienced.
