@paolo814 do at your own risk. and connecting ipad to a hotspot is not illegal. but you can if you use too much data get your cell service disconnected. use a app that monitors 3g data in and out total. unlimited doesn't mean all you can eat.

@override367 no that would be a ad hoc issue. the other device would have to be rooted. but if tablet read issues with some tablet firmware. as in some older firmware better for adding ad hoc. read on your device model before getting the latest

Thanks for the info! However, I just got the Kindle Fire and it doesn't see the hotspot even though it appears to be running correctly. Do you know how I can get this working with the Kindle Fire?

@dpizzitola that is because the device connecting has to have an MTU of 1472. I know that youtuber minus5252 has a triumph and a kindle fire he is clear and easy to follow. I like people to get the best help they can as I don't have the kindle fire. so I urge you to go to his channel and on his kindle review ask him how to change the MTU, he is knowledgeable and has website motorolatriumphhacks. direct the question to his kindle video will send you link.

@IzZyOfTrUtH07 no the only phone virgin mobile has that can do that is the Optimus V android version 2.2.1. after they they quickly released Op V with 2.2.2 to block it

see in command code listed the 1472. you can do the same steps and change it to 1500 in place of the 1472 which is what you computer was before. I will add command line and instructions to save them to a note pad for future reference in more info area of this vid so you can see what I mean.

You have to do all of that just to make the trumph be used as a hotspot ... but do you have to do that last thing in order for your computer to recognize the phone?

@Narutofanfreak45 not to recognize the phone as a mass storage and phone should connect but no data till you make the change. PC default is 1500 packet size. it needs to be 1472 packet size data.  gotta make it smaller or else it is like sucking a golf ball through a straw. I have left the command text below. all you have to do is save it to note pad for future reference and copy and paste it into cmd . takes 30 seconds.

@carlosjazzcat yes. this is how it works. but for me I very rarely use hotspot as the triumph can do most every basic thing I need away from home. At home I have wired high speed.

I wonder if you can make a new account and not add any top up to it. then after getting the phone remove it off the new account made and have it swapped to your current number. that is how got my triumph for 209 cause it was for new customers and best buy had to activate it for me. I said I had a top up card in my draw at home. no lie I did just not for the new number :)

@SPUNKransomRocks you can only use this on a device that the MTU is 1472 or can be changed to 1472. I have read of apple products jailbroken ... get mobile terminal and network-cmds. open and enter... ifconfig en0 mtu 1472. hope this helps.

@DreSpeezy you can reopen the cmd (keep the text save on a notepad) change the 1472 back to 1500, which is the standard, the same way but changing few numbers. look at the text listed under video that you copy into command prompt and you will see were you can change the MTU value
