Punk started in America damn it. It didn't come across the pond to become New Wave. The Pistols did not start punk. The Ramones were out before them and The Stooges were out before The Ramones. The english ripped rock'n'roll from us as well. Not to say there's no good shit from the UK. I do think you could credit Jason and The Scorchers for creating cowpunk or punkabilly or whatever the hell there calling country influenced punk this week. First two albums were pretty good.
