The oil service people are not happy to have had their reputation harmed by the government division, the one that got all the bad press (before this disaster). Their oil service division is considered quite competent. They may have made a mistake, but as owner of the well, BP is responsible for everything the subcontractors do.

Halliburton were obviously not blamed for causing their disaster on their hired rig because they are a sort of American company, whereas BP America is a USA company. Could Halliburton anyway have afforded to pay to clean up the slick?
Have they got friends in high places? Did they finance the Democrats? Did they sponsor Bush era non-regulation and non-implementation of what little law remained?
Halliburton are much too lovely to have sloppy workers?

@cloudbusterman, Halliburton has several divisions. The oil service people are not happy to have had their reputation harmed by the government division, the one that got all the bad press (before this disaster). Their oil service division is considered quite competent. They may have made a mistake, but as owner of the well, BP is responsible for everything the subcontractors do.
