yes that annoyed me too. completely unacceptable! Fred is Mr dream guy, the gentleman of gentlemen. Can't imagine any woman will turn him down especially when we are so used to see him hanging around with goddesses such as Rita, Ginger, Cyd and later Audrey Hepburn.
I agree that the movie has a happy ending! I love Fred, too, but Bing is worthy the girl.
