  • Thanks dude. I did it and it worked.

  • Just to let everyone know. SKIBUM never did send me a hatcam to test drive like he promised he would so as far as I can tell this hatcam is most likely equal to or better then anything he offers, and 100% cheaper.

  • A suggestion - using krazy glue helps. I noticed trying to get the camera back off resulted in the bolt spinning around, so first I glued the washer around the hole I made. Then I added glue to the bottom of the washer and to the threads of the bolt. I would put the pieces together first and mark where the threads start outside of the hat and be sure to NOT put glue on that area. So the washer is glued to the hat, the bolt head to the washer and only the threads that are in the bill of the hat.

  • And also if you do my krazy glue tip, make sure everything is lined up right that you camera faces forward as there wont be any give for the bolt to turn. It is a downside but for me I'd rather not have to use any wrenches/keys in order to turn the bolt to get my camera off every time.

  • Dude...I went to Lowe's and got the stuff for under 50 cents and just used one of the hats I already had and it came out great. Thanks a bunch for posting this. Adding a suggestion following this comment....

  • nice man I was thinking of buying a hat cam but seen your video just makes sense to try your way out before I waste my mula...thanks man!

  • GREAT VIDEO!

    thanks!!

  • use a little tripod base instead of screwing the camera straight it. That would give you a quick release and maybe some aiming options. And remember to strap that hat on real tight cause it'll be front loaded.. Wet cam = dead cam LOL. Nice vid tho, I'm gonna try this out I think.

  • Hi! For small point and shoot cameras you will need 1/4"-20 bolt with UNC thread. 20 turns per inch for thread pitch. If you live in countries where ISO threaded bolts are common you have to fetch somehow imperial thead bolts. Hope this helps...

  • cool deal!

  • Thanks for the tip...just made mine last night and it works great! Cost me $2 since I already got a bunch of hats. Going to try it out this coming weekend on my fishing trip, thanks again!!

  • @slatetundra07 I cant wait for Bass season to start here in late June, I will be recovering from a surgery but thats not gonna stop me from walking the river banks.

    Thanks for watching.

  • thanks dude!!!!!!

  • That did not look too study, and I would not want to risk losing my $150.00 camera in a cold river just to save a few dollars when I'm sure the ones you buy are made by a manufacturer. Cool video though

  • Each camcorder has a different stopping point which makes the hatcams from hatcams. com even better. It allows you to screw a knob up tight to the camcorder so it stays in a forward facing position. Also much sturdier.

  • Looking forward to test driving your product ski, will post a review when I receive it and get out on the water.

  • Hey i made one out of a long screw, 2 washers, and 2 locknuts. i have a flip mino and it works great like that. check out my vid Indiana Pheasant Hunting w/ Hatcam. cool vid. gave me the idea of just making one. saved me 40 $ thx

  • Just passed 500 views! Small victory but I'll take it.

  • Very cool, just hope you don't lose your hat in the heat of the moment :) I might have to try that.

  • lol ya just make sure the hat is snug and you should be good to go.
