  • I saw this last night and i started crying, cause it makes me think about what happens if my mom died, this is the song i will think of. But i love at the end how she says, "She must have been a very special women." and Billy replys, :No she was just my mom." Made me laugh and cry at the same time, but i guess it lightened to mood.

  • omg the best show ive ever seen i saw it on tuesday and i bawled when i got home i wanted to go see it again ssoooooooooo bad it made me cry

  • But please, Billy

know that I will always be

    Proud to have known you

    Proud that you were mine

    Proud in everything

And you must premise me this, Billy

  • im in tears now

  • i cried my eyes out such a good musical

  • I watched the musical with my mum AND my granny. This even emphasized the meaning of the words for me. I love them both so much!!!

  • not many songs make me cry but the 1st time i herd this song it was live at west end. i was next to a load of my friends.......and i balled my eyes out at this. its such an emotional and sad song. but the combanation of micheal and everything else there is what makes it such a breath taking musical. anyone planning to go to the theatre book tickets for this musical.

  • the tears start coming at the first "dear billy"

  • I saw Billy Elliot in London in 2009, and again this August. I saw it both times with my Mam. It's weird, because, her mother died when she was 6, but she was able to hold the tears in during these scenes. I, however, cried loads and loads as soon as they started singing. Billy Elliot is the most moving, incredibly directed, acted and performed show I have ever seen. It's just amazing. This song is beautiful by the way.

  • This song is beautiful :')

  • I saw BE in Dallas yesterday with Lex Ishimoto as Billy. He and the whole cast were wonderful. I hadn't seen the movie and didn't know what to expect. I sure would have brought tissue if I'd known about this number. I had tears streaming down unstoppable, it was so moving. Highly recommend this musical. Truly engaging in every way.

  • 6 people dont have a mom...

  • I CRIED LIKE A BABY THIS WHOLE SONG!! My best friend's mom died when she was 8 so she was all I could think about.

  • So many plays, and I've lost track of how many are mine.

  • My mom died when I was just 6 years old. This song really gets at my heart. It conveys every emotion I feel. The hurt, love, and yearning for someone gone. As Victor Hugo said, "Music expresses that which cannot be expressed in words, but on which it is impossible to be silent."

  • Liam Mower really does this song justice

  • Beautiful...

I may have to press the replay button

  • The five people that pressed dislike, you have no heart to sick people

  • Coming from a girl who knows what it's like to lose a parent at a young age, I am awed at how well they conveyed the emotions in this song. It brings me to tears each time I listen to it, and reminds me just how much I miss my dad. in other words; this song is simply beautiful. :)

  • When Billy goes "No, she was just me mum!"

I always give out a sob, he played a boy who went through alot but still kept his innocence.

  • I convinced my choir director to let us sing this song for our Spring Pop Show, which the theme is Broadway. It was a "Had-to-do-it" Thing:)

  • Seen it twice... cried both times both the mum's letter and billy's reply... i was in tears yesterday when i went to see if for the second time.

  • I auditioned for this on Broadway and got 3 callbacks but then I didn't really want it because I had never seen it and I am not the type of person who is like that with a stage mom and everything. I really love this song <3

  • how could anyone not like this song?!?! i guess it was too sad for them to handle................

  • Ev'ry time I wet my eyes again.....great song... great musical....

  • is it liam mower? yes?

  • I love this song to death. It makes me cry all the time- and yet it is kind of confusing cause I have no idea how the mom died. I mean he is obviously imagining her. The reprise is even more confusing... can someone please clarify? Cause this is like my favorite song of the show.

  • @Charmedfan2010

she was sick and died when billy was young...

and she was the 'backbone' of the family, after which deaths the family kind off broke apart... til the end when they get happy again ^^

so yeah the scenes he speaks or talks with her are imaginary ^^
