  • I love him and hope is better now! sad what he went through

  • As sick as Adam is, you can't help but get the impression from this film that he is extremely arrogant. Read his book also, he's a bit of a tosser.

  • Can`t weight to see adam ant live in bristol......Yes i am going as Ant Music. The wight line and jacket and im gonna dance my socks off.....Im 22 so its all cool. I even go out to pups like it and get plenty of milfs/yum yums and i love it.....Adam ant is a facking icon/fashion icon

  • I really hate the media, couldn't they have just left him alone instead of mocking him? I love you Adam!

  • This was really good documentary. It really gives inside look of living with BP.I love how openly he discusses and describes it.Hypomania can work to your advantage,I use it daily. It's when it becomes full blown manic state its a problem.I'm glad he looks well and stable these days. Its not easy.

  • 103 likes,0 dislikes.......everybody loves him

  • Thank you Adam {{HUGS}} Yes, when you're really sick, it's one second at a time.

  • when i was 8 i stabbed myself 3 times due to Bi-polar disorder all i could ever remember was my mum who died shortly after giving birth to me and then my dad when i was 5 i was put into a home not far from where adam had grown up as a child.

after i turned 7 i started getting called horrible names by the other kids at the home and by the time i was 8 id had enough i wanted everything to end.

im 14 now and i have a new family ive had a couple of wobblers since but for the first

    time i feel normal

  • Adam, thank you for speaking up about this, bringing attention to you through music, and then using the platform to a better understanding - it's your calling now - your/our/the world's 'head peace', get the balance right, without the black pit, we wouldn't be who we are, accept the wretched old dark friend, don't fight it, because it produces the most amazing rainbows. Love to you Adam, and thanks again xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Funny how none of this was never reported in America. I've always loved the TRUE alternative music of the 80's and particularly the Brittish alternative. The American media totally igonored these 80's brit stars after thier heyday.

  • his life keep getting better Adam looking forward to seeing you in Liverpool looking fab sounded magic. Always a true fan x x x kt

  • How tragic I've loved Adam since 79 and for his life and genius to be plagued by this demon ihas devastated

  • You get well, Adam! I am looking forward to your future music.

  • Thatnks for posting this. Really awesome!

  • If you read his autobiography you'll see that his medication, at times, gave him unwanted side effects. I think he has always needed guidance from someone that loved him unconditionally and he's now found her. I hope that he will live happily for the rest of his days, loved him in 1980. Always will.

  • my best friend is bi polar sice we were teenagers, i've had my fair share of trauma too, i watched this because he was special, and Mr Goddard , you still are x

  • The one thing I question is that there is no mention of him being medicated at all. It seems odd, because he was treated several times starting from before he was famous. Hospitalized twice and released stable. If I could ask him a personal question it would be what about meds ? Did he refuse to take them ?

  • wow..thanks for uploading this documentary. its a serious issue highlighted well by this film. Good luck to Adam and everyone else battling with this disease!

  • It totally breaks my heart that when a celebrity endures any kind of tragic experience, medical condition or heartbreak, the media treats it like the next act in a career. Although Mr. Goddard is exceptionally talented and beloved by many, he is just a man, with all the right to be imperfect as any of us. Character and personality are found in the absence of perfection. Perfect music? YES!! Perfect Man? Thank heavens, NO!

  • Compelling documentary about a true legend and star. Lots of clear thinking, cool insights into his art direction process... I do hope to meet the man some day! All the best wishes for better health. PS extra treat with Ms. Frischmann as narrator

  • Oh and thank you so much for posting this!!! :)

  • I have bipolar disorder and have felt the kind of depression he described. I cannot imagine going through that plus having the media mock, ridicule and profit from it on top of it. What a bunch of assholes. He is truly an inspiration, and his music and videos are pure genius. -3

  • What a great guy Adam is,hope he is ok.Thing is hav'nt we all felt like throwing an alternator through a pub window at som gits who are there to cause trouble.

Adam is more sane than some of the gits I have had to work with in my 20 years in I.T.

Adam is brilliant and an amazing creative person, those fools who ridicule you are just not worth the effort mate, they probably have not had a creative thought in their lives.

    Hope you stay ok.xxx

  • I feel like this story occurs over and over with the famous. Too often, it ends in suicide or overdose. I think Adam is very brave to keep seeking help and fighting it...never succumbing. Bless his support system. I hope he is well and happy. I have loved him so over the course of my life. The impacted he has had on art, music, and fashion cannot be measured.

  • what an interesting doc. i love adam and it's good to relate to someone like that because depression really blows and its good to see its not the end of the world when you have it. he's a great guy.

  • good post....

  • i am just like Adam, but without the talent.

  • I never knew adam had gone through all this and it just makes me respect him all the more. I love you, Adam!

    Thanks for sharing the video!

  • After battling through depression myself, all I can say is that I have more respect for Adam, and am still one of his fans. God bless him, his friends, and family.

  • They made a movie about Boy George... Where's the movie about Adam Ant?????

  • fuck the media... they're cockroaches, vampires and swine.

  • When all's said and done, he is still the God of the 80's. The band were ahead of their time, exciting, brilliant to watch and listen to and I still have Dog Eat Dog on my playlist. Long live Adam, we will always love the breath of fresh air you brought to music xx

  • Of course I meant "WHAT can be done"

  • Just seen the whole documentary which of course was never aired in my country. Thanks soooooo much for uploading this. I knew Adam had mental problems but I never knew much about it and I'm glad to see he's so open about it, about how it is and how it can be done. I'm sure this will help a lot of people. With or without make up, he's right when he sings "ridicule is nothing to be scared of".

  • I loved you in the 80's. Was inspired by the heart in your lyrics, and the rhythm in those drums. I have lived with depression all my life and seeing this made me feel proud, rather than ashamed. WE are unique, if troubled people. And the world is slowly coming round to us. Keep the Faith Adam. You are still loved and treasured.

  • Adam your absolutely brilliant. You acknowledge your illness and actually go out and get help when you can't handle it . LOVE always. Wish others know about your own efforts to get help instead of a 5 seconds news story to say you lost it again. Always a fan and wish you well.

  • To have major depression is to live in fear of your next episode. I loved Adam and Marco in the 80's and still do. Thanks, Marco Pirroni, for sticking around. It's hard to live with those of us who are fighting the beast. And Adam, please keep fighting it, and know there is someone else out here wielding weapons against it with you.

  • I do so hope he pulls through this latest episode. Love you Adam - please get better!

  • The way th res treated himwas disgustig.I tink he has sho himself to be an honet, sensiive human eing...and adam you are still gorgeous, pince charming always .xxx

  • I'd forgotten about this documentary, just watched it again, it made me feel very sad for him. I went to see him last week and had a great time he could still make a big come back if he was well enough. : ( I wish you well Adam I really, really do.

  • Thanks for taking the time to post all these. Had a great time watching them. Just finished reading his book and reliving all the memories. Went to see him at Manchester Apollo in '82 - him stepping out of the screen onto the stage is the still the greatest ever start to a gig I ever saw

  • Adam Ant I hope you are doing well, all the best wishes to you, you are an extremely talented man, extremely handsome, and have a very kind soul, no matter what happens always remember how great of a person you are and never forget that you are much loved and appreciated and are an inspiration to millions.

  • i'm pretty much 100% certain that I have depression myself, and as a 16 year old girl, it's a hard thing to get people to understand and take note of. adam has shown me that people with mental illness' can be successful and are well loved throughout media, he has such a positive influence on many people's lifes. I feel closer to adam than I do to my own family, and I honestly could not thank him enough. I will be enternally grateful to him, and he'll always be my idol. much love.

  • Adam & The Ants made interesting music :) But I don't understand, why Stuart lost his hair? I know that's an unusual question, but I just wanna know...

  • Thank you for posting this doc, and best wishes to Adam for whatever the future may hold.

  • Thank you for posting it. That his illness was cast into the public realm is overall a good thing, I think. In particular for those many persons who are not famous and yet find themselves sharing similar experiences because of their own illness. This is the most compassionate look on a person with bipolar disorder that I have yet seen. And I very much appreciate his music, too.

  • I agree that this is, overall, a very non-judgemental presentation of those who suffer from depression, which is very misunderstood by those who don't have the illness themselves.

  • dont forget' adam went into hospital and phoned the sun newspaper'...that IS nuts.

  • What is it about the UK press that makes them so hostile towards celebrities? I know it exists to some extent in all countries, but the British press always seems far more vicious. Does that sort of cruelty really sell that many papers there? (I know ordinary British people aren't usually like that.)

  • I always loved Prince charming Adam ant and I will always do,,,,the song Prince charming flashed back all nice memories, since i was a child, I appreciate all the hard work they did to give us such a nice music, also thanks alot 4 all the videos and ppl whome posted them.

  • thanks for posting this documentary! i hope Adam is doing well now, & that he has a happy birthday tomorrow! <3

  • I still love you Adam! I wish the best for you and hope you are okay in life! I don't care what people think, life is tough...move on.

  • i vote for johnny depp to play the role of adam in the movie.

  • I think a great deal of everyday people support Adam. It was the press slamming him , not the everyday folks. He is too loved for that.

  • Some one posted that he was thinking of Adam Ant one day and then found this documentary. Same here. He just sort of popped into my mind and I made a CD. I was looking for music videos when I found this. I'm so glad this was posted because I am no longer just a nostalgic fan of a teen pop star, but an admirer of really brave and interesting man. Thanks for the music and the honesty Adam.

  • I loved adam ant he was a great performer /Musician ...Thanks for posting this documentary! I had never realised what hell he had to go thru and continues to go thru ..adam will be in my prayers

  • Thanks you so much for sharing this! This makes me even more anxious to check out his book. I can't help but to think how courageous it is of him to share all this with us. And Marco - you can tell he cares. I'm sure Adam appreciates a good friend like him. I pray he is well and happy!

  • he never mimed except when he was made to on tv shows... he hated miming

  • Thanks for posting this, it's very sad but a well done documentary.

  • A lot of people have kind of summed up how amazing this man is in the comments below so all i've got to say is watching this account has just made me appreciate him even more.

A very good, informative documentary, which i don't think is biased, but if it is, it's to the right side. The parts where he was describing what depression felt like made me cry.

  • Dear Adam I too am Bi-Polar i work in TV in Chicago

I go to school for graphic design I am a 48 year old single mother of 3 children I am stable thanks to a good DR and Lithium Carbonate I wish you and yours the best drop the fear live in love best wishes, And thank you for letting others know what this disease is like!!!

  • What an amazing and insightful doumentary.

Much luck and love to Adam.

  • Thank you very much for posting this. It was interesting and heartbreaking at the same time. I wish Adam the best, he seems like a lovely individual.

  • thank u for posting this....Adam is an amazing artist w/ incredible talent, the world would have lost a great man if he had suceeded in ending his life, I hope his story helps others who are suffering from manic depression.

  • I watched all 8 ! Adam has a lot of fans still and we all look forward to his comeback ( both privately and publicly ) Look forward to his next album !

  • There are so few song and dance men left and Adam was one of the best. He created a whole new style - that Prince took from him and used in America, which is why I think he never had the mania in the states that he enjoyed in England. Also, I wonder if Michael Jackson's success had anything to do with keeping Adam at #2 or #3 over here?

  • A Strong Character, Uniquely Talented & Artistic Individual, Decent, Genuine, Hardworking Guy Who Has Bravely Spoken about His Inner Demons & The Madness Ensuing That Was The 80's.

    Love you Stuart :-)

  • I'd call this "Ant, Interrupted"

  • Thanks for posting this.

Love to Adam and hope hes doing well.

  • LOVE the Fred Scuttle reference!! too fkn funny! I loved the Benny Hill show, and now the paper calls him Fred Scuttle! too funny!

  • @avengerberetta Who is Fred Scuttle?

  • I belive Fred Scuttle is(was) Benny Hill

  • Are you sure? I just checked Wikipedia, and Benny's real name was Alfred Hill. Maybe he played a guy named Fred Scuttle or something, but I've never heard the name before.

  • Fred Scuttle was a character Benny Hill did. The one with a beret and glasses

  • He is a very brave person for telling his story. Don't you just want to hug him?! Poor guy...he's been through a lot...I know how scary depression can be. I hope he's feeling better these days, and won't have to go through any of that again!

Thanks for posting this! How old is this documentary, btw?

  • July 17th 2003

  • Cheers to you dear Adam. Yes, you are our brave brave boy. You will always have a huge place in all our hearts. I know mine has a lovely white stripe painted across it. Love, I completely agree with you. Mental illness sucks. I am on meds also. Let me tell you, it is very scary. However, you have faced your demons, and you still are. May God bless you. Also, let me say, you still are extremely handsome. All the best to you. Your fans are truly like ants, for we stick together.

  • R E S P E C T, Adam! You show incredible guts for sharing your difficulties! Nobody is perfect, however, you are an example for how everybody should be: deep down sensitive, kind, caring and just want to be acknowledged for you being you. Well, I thank God for you being YOU! Cheers!

  • Thanks for posting this

    Peace

  • Thanks SO much for posting this show.

  • Antmusic forever! thank you for your post. love Adam and what he's given us in the way of his inventive/theatrical music.

    eternal antfan.

    be well, fair Prince.

  • What a legend. Cheers for putting this up

  • I wish Adam love and I believe he can turn things around. He has lots of fans still and we all wish him the best.

  • That was brilliant. Thanks for posting this all. I'd love to see the man make something of a comeback by reinventing himself and writing songs more about him and his troubles and less about the fun we should all be having.

He's certainly earned enough respect for us all to listen. And no. We can't turn him into a poster child for mental illness.

He's a good man, and I hope he finds the direction he needs.

  • I just finished watching the whole thing. That was very engaging. Thanks for the post.

  • Thanks again for posting. It's hard for people to understand that "mental illness" is a physical illness that has expression through the thinking and personality. It's not different from lupus or arthritis except in how it reveals itself to others. I hope that he will not be ashamed of being bi-polar and will someday feel comfortable being active again as an artist. He cannot help being an artist, I hope he can have the pleasure of self-expression again.

  • Thanks for posting this! I suffer from Bipolar Disorder and have had a lot of similar experiences.

  • I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. I had never seen this before and was glued to my seat. I've been a long time fan of his, I always will be. He's still incredible!! Thanks again!!

  • Thanks for shring - in Australia we didn't get to see this.

I'm so glad Adam got to share his story. I hope that it makes Neuro-Typical people understand we people with mental illness a bit more.

    he is a brave man.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, for two reasons. One because I'm a huge admirer of Adam Ant and I admire him for being so honest about his illness. Secondly, because a friend of mine is suffering from mental illness, and hearing about Adam's experiences helps me understand what she's going through.

  • Excellent documentary. I would love to see him remake and reprise some of his songs, but reinvent them in a new way. I don't want to see him try to be 80s Adam, but his own self.

    I do wish him luck.

  • Alwaysinmyhouse is my hero for posting this documentary!!!

  • Keep fighting Adam!

  • When was this filmed? Ohhh... I hope he's okay... he seemed like he was doing fine when I read his book...

  • about 2002/2003 something like that

  • totally interesting. He's such a fascinating person and talent. I hope he finds some peace and happiness. And he's lucky to have a friend like Marco, who seems to really get it and care about him.

  • That stuff with the stalkers was SCARY!!!!!! If I found a cake with a crazy note like that I'd shit a brick. Best of luck Adam.

  • Thanks for uploading this - totally interesting.

  • I hope Adam gets better. His music is GREAT and I can't wait to see him live one day.

  • Thank you SO much for uploading this. Adam was and still is a bloody genius, it's just tragic that he has to suffer this awful illness. I wish him all the luck in the world.

  • Wow, I am so glad that I saw this..and that it was posted so kindly. I never knew that Adam was bipolar, and his band and music shaped my teen years positively. I saw him in '82 in Passaic's Capitol Theatre (that's NJ). It was a night I'll never forget. I couldn't hear for an hour after, but I didn't care. He gave it all, and he still has his fans. I'm glad he came forward and was honest about everything.

  • yes. One day at a time, one hour at a time...sometimes one second at a time. He's right. The medication helps a bit...but mostly it just makes you fat and lethargic.

Manic depression sucks. I feel for you Mr Goddard. I feel for me too... I rapid cycle. three monthly.

  • Marco - thank you . . . for your music, for standing behind and looking after the divine Adam and for your big heart.

Adam - new Ant fans are made every day and appreciate your talent and genius. Being in Australia I've never seen this doco till now even though I'd heard about it. Touched my heart. Adam, you are still relevant and we want more of you if you still have it to give. Love you, Adam.

  • My sentiments exactly! How this could not touch someone is unthinkable. Adam is in my prayers. It does show how unfealing the press can be!

  • God bless Marco Pittoni and other mates for standing behind the troubled superstar all these years. Adam, despite what the press may say about you in the name of a "salcious read," your longtime AntFans still love you and are proud of you for your efforts to get well and stay well.

  • After finding myself in a controversy surrounding Adam's hospitalization; through that process I learned first hand of this ridiculous"stigma" in the UK we don't have in the US. It shocked me as the sister/mother of two family members with bipolar diagnoses, to witness this attitude toward Adam and civil rights of mental health patients that assumes hysteria and forced confinement fix this. His doctors let him go home because they don't live in the dark ages as doctors, and they have doctorates

  • Thanks for this; I had wanted to see the docummentary. By watching this I have gained great insight into manic depression which will help me as a nurse understand more as to what it's like to be a person with a mental illness. I wish the best of everything for Adam!!!! Look forward to future music!!

  • he is still great and i hope he can fight his demons

  • thanks for uploading this *Always.the docummentary was pretty interesting.

  • Thank you for uploading this. :D

  • Thanks for PUTTING THE WORK IN on this video(s)!!!

I had wanted to see this for a very long time. It's even better knowing he's possibly on his way back to making some great new music. And Marco is F-ing awesome, by the way.
