  • what will happen if you use bottled water rather than distilled

  • @reyes7ho2 I do your right. My speech needs some work. It was harder then I thought it would be shooting the video. Basically I can only get better! Thanks for your feedback. :-)

  • Thank you so much dude!

  • basically

  • Just received my Showcase II followed your video and after the first seasoning it was at 71%. Awesome humidor and great vid! Very helpful!

  • Very helpful. Thank you.

  • Hello thanbks for the question, Our Tropical Humidity solution comes pre-mixed you can just add it to your humidifier. I would only use distilled water to season the inside of the humidor.

    Hope this helps you out.

    All the best

  • @CIGARSTARCA i just bought a humidor on craigslist but it doesnt have the key. it is a humidor supream limited edition 2000 but its missing the key where if i can can i get a new one?

  • Ex cigarette smoker of 30+ years, love tobacco way to much and just wanting to upgrade to much better tobaccos. Really been enjoying my cigars immensely and humidor I ordered is coming next week. Your video was the most informative by far, I just wish I knew about your store before making my order though. But still need accessories soon.

Question, your propylene solution, would it be wise to mix a little with distilled water for when I season my humidor? Or just humidifier only?

  • @CyclesOvHate

NEVER use the PG solution for the wipe down method when first seasoning your humidor. USE ONLY DISTILLED WATER.

ONLY USE PG SOLUTION IN YOUR HUMIDIFIERS!

  • Hey, I've got a big problem. I've been using a Ci-gel humidity regulator in my humidor and now all my cigars are covered in a salty chemical residue inside and out that has completely ruined my cigars. I was told by the guys at my local store that this ci-gel which is a crystal gel regulator works well and i'm supposed to refill it once a month with a humidor wetting solution once a month which is what i did. any ideas what the hell happened?

    thanks!

  • @datfunk101 Not sure what happened We only recommend that you use a PG solution on sponge base humidifiers or Gel cyrstals with distilled water only inside our humidors.

Sound like the Ci gel is the reason your cigars became ruined......

  • so how many times do you do the wipe down???

  • @80591593030 You should only need to do the wipe down a couple of times. If you are having issues you can add a shot glass with a wet paper towel inside the humidor, leave it inside for a couple days to boost the humidity inside the humidor then remove it. This trick will get humidity levels inside your humidor to a perfect level if you drop below your desired level.

Having cigars inside the humidor will help with maintaining humidity as they will act as a humidifier.

  • @CIGARSTARCA cool thanks

  • how often do you have to season the box?

  • @JOJOMIII you should only need to season your humidor once to get it started. If you are having issues you can add a shot glass with a wet paper towel inside the humidor, leave it for a couple days to boost the humidity inside the humidor then remove it. This trick will get humidity levels inside your humidor to a perfect level if you drop below your desired level.

  • he says basically a lot

  • Good question! You can put them in the same humidor... this is where Spanish cedar dividers are good to have inside your humidor. As when cigars age the tobacco marries together creating a wonderful tasting cigar.

If you have many different cigars all together touching they will indeed pick up the flavors and aromas from the other cigars beside them. Cedar dividers will allow you to store many different cigars in the same humidor together, but apart.

  • So, I have a few question! I don;t know a lot about cigars, but I'm really getting into them, so, if I buy a bunch of different cigars (CAO Flavours, Rocky Patel, CAO Gold, etc) can I put them in the same humidor? Will that affect each cigar since they all have different notes, size and wrapper?? THANKS!

  • JUST AN FYI. If your humidor is too moist this could cause the formation of mold so you want to make sure that an analog hygrometer is reading properly.

AFTER YOU SEASON YOUR HUMIDOR FOR THE FRIST TIME YOUR HYGROMETER SHOULD READ 80-85% HUMIDITY, IT WILL THEN DROP DOWN AS THE WOOD ABSORBS THE HUMIDITY TO THE IDEAL 65-70%

IF YOUR HYGROMETER IS NOT ABOVE OR AROUND 80% AFTER YOU FIRST SEASON IT, YOU SHOULD CALIBRATE YOUR HYGROMETER

  • @JetSetterSOS If your seal is good then your humidor should be ready.

IMPORTANT: AFTER YOU SEASON YOUR HUMIDOR FOR THE FRIST TIME YOUR HYGROMETER SHOULD READ 80-85% HUMIDITY, IT WILL THEN DROP DOWN AS THE WOOD ABSORBS THE HUMIDITY.

IF YOUR HYGROMETER IS NOT ABOVE OR AROUND 80% AFTER YOU FIRST SEASON IT, YOU SHOULD CALIBRATE YOUR HYGROMETER. We have a video for this . :-)

  • Thanks so much for this. Mrs bought me one for Xmas and I followed this and now have my collection sitting in 69% (the ambient humidity is 35%). I had to wipe it out 5 times to get it ready but I'd have been lost as the instructions with it didn't cover this at all. rgs.

  • @finnstralian Our pleasure! Glad this video is helping beginners get started in this great hobby of collecting & enjoying fine cigars as cigars only get better with age..... IF STORED PROPERLY :-)

  • Thanks for the post!

  • I have a humidor which is about 13-15 years old, in spanish cedar I would guess, It wasn't seasoned properly from the beginning and has not been humidified well following receipt.

My question: How can I get it to work? Will I need to re-season it in a special manner? If so how?

    Thanks

  • @joli66 If your humidor is not holding humidity, then the seal might not be good anymore as if you follow these steps your humidor should be at a perfect humidity level. The wood in your 15 year old humiodr may have warpped, thus making the seal poor allowing the humidity to escape.

I would suggest you start with a new humidor.

  • do you have a Cigar Star humidor?

  • @carlorossiyee do you have a digital or analog hygrometer?

  • what should i do if my humidor has lost humidity, how do you get it back to correct level? thanks!

  • how long in all did it take to season your humidor? and also sis you mean season it like how you did 4-5 times in one day? and again the next day? and ne more help would help... TY

  • Most humidors will only need to be seasoned a couple of times before they are ready for your cigars, Some may only need to be seasoned once all depends on where your humidity level is on your hygrometer.

  • thanks for the vid and all the info, nice intro to a humidor.

    regards from Germany,

    Ferdinand

  • hey! how can i get it ready in 1 day? i will receive 100 Cuban cigars for Friday and my humidor arrives on Thursday!!!! can you tell me the fastest way to reach the 75 % of humidity?

    thanks a lot!

  • @kubsun You can never rush a good thing. Follow the video. In the mean time buy a large tupperware dish that locks closed and use the humidifer inside the tupperware dish until your humidor is fully seasoned, and ready for your cigars, sure would hate to see anyone ruin 100 fine cigars.

  • Great video, lots of information, i feel u need to work on your speach a little more

  • @brandon12084 Yes you are correct my speech needs some work. It was harder then I thought it would be shooting the video. I can only get better! Thanks for your feedback. You should try working on your spelling,,,lol

  • @CIGARSTARCA

    LOL

    great video

  • @CIGARSTARCA ok i just assumed soak and wipe were just being used to describe the same thing i understand now

  • im confused....it said dont soak the tray but you did it anyway..which is it and why or why not?

  • @sjjdiienno1 You just want to wipe down the cedar tray. This means no standing water should be on the removeable tray.

  • very helpful video my cigars are safe thank you

  • Hi there, thanks so much for the video. I followed it and my humidor is working great now.
