  • Ahh Garry my favourite student...what has happened to you?

I hear you lost your temper and attacked another student while in Switzerland?

I think you need to go easy on the burgers.

    And died hair?

Ahhh yar, ONE DAY YOU WILL MAKE ME TURN OVER IN MY GRAVE, YOU KNOW THAT?!?!

  • The 2 students sparring looked like they were uses a kickboxing stance rather than a wing chun stance.

  • If I ever get the chance to I wanna learn from this guy.

  • Sifu Lam's confidence speaks volumes on the quality of his knowledge. Thank you for posting this interesting video.

  • is the best

  • Foul language neither make the foul language speaker more powerful nor make the audience more fearful, ABILITY does ! ! Those who want to appear on the public video, but could not take comments, might as well shut down the video ,or make another video 10 years later when their skills , maturity level and confidence might have been improved. Mr. L is a great Wing Chun teacher and master , he should not need to be a Zoo-keeper , to keep the animals in check.

  • Without ability to self- control (verbal and behaviour) , how to control your enemy or opponent ? You could muscle through with brute force , aggression and some junior level techniques and may win over a physically weak opponent, but facing a good martial artist or a physically much stronger opponent, no chance.

  • Mr. Lam mentioned the words " Control" , " Feel" , "Sensitivity" , these underlying concepts are as important as(or more than) the " techniques" . Without control, feel, and sensitivity, power and speed would not go very far. Unfortunately, some people only want to search for "power" , " speed" , and " techniques" only .

  • Mr. Gary Lam is a good teacher and good Wing Chun master, but look like some of his students are not .......... The video is good to watch for any martial art practitioners, to learn what to do and not to do. Mr. Lam mentioned the word "Control ", it is a key word indeed.

  • Finally, I had had enought of him, so I got the chance and "lap" his arm and thrown him. He never came back to the club. Control , Respect and Consideration are important in trainings. Perhaps I should not throw him, but I am human, not a punching bag. By the way, the short hair guy(not bald), sorry for the mistake, appeared using western boxing skills to punch ? Were they testing western boxing vs. Wing Chun ? However, I would not like to train with this two guys anyway .

  • @azetic

You don't know anything about about them. This was a staged demonstration. We were there. You weren't.

    So shut the fuck up.

  • In all martial arts trainings, without respect and consideration to your partner ,everything is useless. "武德" (martial moral) is as important as "武技" (martial skills). I recounted 1 incidence happened to me years ago, a guy came to our club for a first trial class (he actually tried to challenge in reality). He practiced with me for Lap Sau, my skills was not good(even now), so he "lap" my arm all the times, and he hit me hard with another fist (lap 打) everytime, and it hurts! TBC

  • After rewatching the video, actually both of the 2 guys in training were trying to looking for a real fight (perhaps they didn't get along anyway) This type of students were dangerous to themselves and other people as they would "look for fights" constantly. In cantonese sayings would be "沙尘" or "串" . Thanks Mr. Gary Lam to stop the aggression before it got out of control and also thanks Gary to teach the 2 persons a lesson in an indirect method. showing good model role as a teacher .

  • Amid MA students, there is so called "killers"(they like to fight with aggression and anger, overzealous, kind of trigger-happy type ), there is also so called "timid " students who are always worried, lack of confidence, afraid to be hit type. Both type of characters are not beneficial to become good , highly skillful martial artists. May the bald guy not using his learned skills for bullying or showing off or "Macho" other innocent people. Martial Arts train skills as well as proper mindsets.

  • Control is the key word. Thanks Mr.Gary Lam. Gary knew how to control the situation as the training almost became a real fight( the bald guy got angry and tried to muscle through with aggression). Gary stopped the training before it got out of control. Gary also taught the two guys, especially the bald guy, to control "yourself" (your technique, your mind, your emotion, your compose, your anger , your aggression etc.) Martial Arts are not only training for skills, also training for hearts/minds.

  • Hey, hey, cannot do like this!

  • Gary Lam rocks! He seems not just to be an awesome fighter, but also very nice person.

I like how he cools down the two fighting cocks!

  • Powerfulness. See UFC fighters go crazy with kicks from this man. Nobody stops this king of Chi flow powerfulness. I never see anything like these type of fights. You think you get in a cage and fight with drums and music going like this? You crazy people. This is Superman fast and furious and all the chicks dig this kind of violence. Oh, yes! You learn this and you marry a nice San Diego girl that likes your big arms and beefy fight technique. You are now hero of the world. Zap!
