He may have been standing in their flight path and that makes them mad. Honeybees are very uninclined to attack. My grandmother keeps them and I was standing with in touching distance of them today with her and they didn't show any agression toward me.

I received a swarm in July and have fed faithfully and they are doing wonderful. 9 big frames. They are in a home built top Bar Hive and I really thank you all for showing me so much information about bees. I love gardening.

ive got 6 hives dont wear anything but a vail really the gloves just get in the way and those shits sting through the suits ive still got a suit from when i started though
