My great granddad was a Australian Soldier in WW2 he fought against the Germans at Toburk. He was one of the lucky ones who survived. He died in 2001 of a heart attack. I was the one who found him and i was only 6 years old.
this song made me sink inside. it makes me think of all the british, american and all the other soldiers who fought in the wars and who are fighting now. Brave soldiers who help their country. i hope one day the world will have peace and no one will be at war.
Well done Terry! Obviously a lot of hard work has gone in to this and we have been rewarded with a really fine song and tribute. I hope it gets lots of plays and receives the credit it deserves. regards, Alan
Terry, this is a beautiful song! It made me cry too. Everyone can relate to this somehow, either through their own family members in the military or people they know whose loved ones are in harm's way. My uncle died in WWII before I could ever meet him...I can only imagine what my grandparents and dad went through when that happened. What amazing sacrifices our military families make. Thank you for writing it! :)
Thank you for this tribute to your dad...I'm so sorry. He did die...."so that we can live the life we do." I can tell you are very proud of you dad and love him so.
@vajara Thank you for your kind words, my dad DID NOT die in battle, I wrote the song using empathy on watching others suffering on the news and reading their stories.
So by convincing you and others, I must have done a good job!! I wish you well. Terry.
what a beautiful song. I'm a royal navy veteran and this song really captures military emotions. Thank you x
