  • Yes, the same thing happened to mine but after 18 months of use. I had the distributor replaced, the seal, the seal clamp, the complete jack, misc parts and 75.00 dollars labor. For a whopping total of $225.00 in repairs from the authorized Krupps repair center in California. The name is California electric service in Concord,Ca 19258271011 19258275409

  • Had the same issue was the water distributor ($80 part)

  • ...and for the record, I make two cups a day, so that would be less than 600 cups before it broke on me. I still view this as a pretty good deal seeing as it's convenient, at home, and costs far less than the $5+ cups I'd get anywhere else even if you factor in having to buy a new $500 machine every year.

  • I sent it in to be repaired. We'll see how long it takes before it breaks again but you'll laugh at what their rep told me. He told me that the beans I was using to make cappuccino with may have been too oily. I said you mean I can't use espresso roast beans to make my espresso? He said yes. What a joker.

Anyhow, what I figured I'd better be doing to prolong the life of this device is to rinse it after each cup of cappuccino I make. You'll hear back from me when it finally breaks again.

  • I have fixed these and also other Krups's coffee makers, I love them (makes great coffee and the units are really small). The spare part costs 14 euros. It's the piston (not sure if that's the right word for it). It has a bad quality O-ring. Some units only last about a year. The manufacturer have said that these should long at least 5000 cups of espresso. So the bad quality is not intended.

  • I'm having the same problem. I don't think I should have to mess with O-rings when a product fails due to poor design. I'm going to find where it's leaking and epoxy it if I have to.

BTW, their website is a total joke. Don't waste your time going there for anything other than a way to contact them. A search for the XP7260 turns up NOTHING on their site. To make matters worse, they have VERY few service centers in the US. Plan on having to pay for shipping to get it repaired.

  • @barkmaker I sold my Krups after I found out it was made in China and that repair would be a hassle. So I got rid of it before it started giving me problems.

  • @barkmaker

Hi, well I have the very same problem, so I took of al the parts to discovered the piston case is a plastic and they crack around the screws, so only chance to be repaired is whole piston component to be replaced.

    My one is for sale.

  • Check all the O-rings you want and it isn't gonna solve much for a longer period. What you do is: Go get something else than Krups... What the problem is that the Krups espresso machines has a very integrated brewing unit that is not accessible to the user. Eventually the brewing unit clogs with semi wet coffee ground, and pressure is built up causing the sealings to leak.

Instead check out the Saeco Giro for an example. It is very easy to clean! and if it leaks, the internal system is safe.

  • HOLY crap!!!! IT's about to have a baby!!!!

  • Thank you for the video. I got a little leak the first use but i couldn't replicate the problem after making sure the waste tray pushed all the way in.

  • Excellent video!

I've had the XP7200 and EA8005. Same thing happened with them after 2 and 1,5 years. Pile of ####. Probably designed to last slightly past the end of the warranty period.

  • @gammernno I'm actually surprised to hear that other people are also having problems with Krups. I am a big fan of German and Swiss products and I am kind of disappointed in Krups after hearing other people's comments. After I returned the defective XP7260 I got myself a brand new XP7230 (which is essentially the same minus the milk bottle - which sucks anyway). The XP7230 has been working like a clock. I use it every single day, twice a day and it never failed. I've had it for almost 1 year.

  • i just bought Krups 7240 , in 1 hour I return it to seller ,same problem, water appear under machine,

  • @misel63 Where did you buy it from? Was it brand new (never used)?

  • yes, brand new, my seller is Tehnomarket Novi Sad ,Serbia,I am curently waiting for new machine from main store from Belgrade.Price 500e for unusable machine :((

  • yeap, new machine come after 8 days and work perfect, also I receive for free 1kg Lavazza coffie, great

  • @misel63 after 3 weeks my Krups is in error code 12 state.what is this ? no more coffie :(

  • You need to check the o-rings. All the automatic expresso machines after some years of use need to be cleaned and need new o-rings with new seal silicone.

Try to find a service manual, a kit of o-rings and some o-ring sealing silicone.

  • This machine was brand new... I returned it to the seller and got another one which is perfect.

  • Hello!

I have the same problem with my XP7220...

  • @stephaneb35
