@severdnerv How do you know your computer doesn't have a virus?
It's not like your computer coughs or gets a fever, your computer could be infested with keyloggers, data miners or worse, part of a botnet... and it'd be almost impossible to know.
Not all viruses are designed to insta-destroy your system.
@Treblaine OK i see your point, But how do you know that you dont have cancer>??? i mean u might have but it just hasent shown yet? see u cant go through life wondering if u have or havent cause then life wouldent be worth living ... Live a little dude =P
@severdnerv I'm certain I don't have cancer because I am only 22 years old, don't smoke, and check my ball (like every guy should) for unusual lumps when I bathe. Most cancers have noticeable and distinct symptoms, must computer viruses by their intelligent design do not.
If you smoke you SHOULD worry about cancer.
If you download pirate games, you SHOULD worry about viruses.
@Treblaine LMFAO lol Wot is this? THe world acording to "Treblaine". LOL that everything should conform to YOUR Standards and everything else is wrong and unjust. @severdnerv Want to fuck your computer with pirate games? Fine, YOUR SYSTEM!
Want to risk testicular cancer and ending up a castrati? Fine, YOUR BALLS!
But DO NOT act like it's only your problem being a STD spewing parasite, ignorance is no excuse, you have a responsibility to rubber-up cause she's not going to put one on herself.
Grow up and be a man, not a petulant child. I tried to give you some helpful advice, now I'm just disgusted at you.
@Treblaine Well Treblaine Its been fun =D but i got to go ...Got some games to download and i got a date 2nite so gona be having some RAW SEX =P and mabey afterwards i think ill have a Cig but its been fun
@severdnerv Are you trying to be a douchebag... like as in trying to be funny.
Because it really is fucking hilarious, bragging like some passive aggressive teen virgin, bullshitting about sex and downloading games OoOoOOH! So edgy.
When downloading torrents of games I like to use something that most people including yourself don't seem to use anymore in this dark cruel dumb world.
There is one thing I hate about Good Old Games. The revenue they get isnt routed to original authors. In fact the software is so old, the developers have already got all they needed. So why are they selling something that is outdated, has already made profit and something whose authors wont get any money anyway? I dont know. So many proud people for throwing money away and feeling good. Throw your money at greenpeace and get a version from TPB instead. Do something GOOD.
@lin545 I think the authors know they can't get any money out of it, but like how people can at least play the games they once played before, or if they missed out on it because they were so young, or even if it's kids who never played the games before and want to try'em out. Besides, since it's DRM free, the devs pretty much said, "Here, sell it, because we don't anymore."
Besides, I love the service. The games I have work perfectly, and it's a good Alt. to Steam.
@lin545 In some cases the original developers do own the rights, like Cyan Worlds and the Myst series or Piranha Bytes and Gothic, for example. In other cases, the original developer is still under the current and/or former publisher, like Beyond Good & Evil, for example. And then there are cases where the current publisher is funding new installments in a franchise under a new developer, like Kalypso and Patrician IV. FINALLY, there are cases like the King's Quest fan project!
@pendevil Yeah, I know these cases, but in reality only 1-3 percent own rights for the titles they wrote, the rest is some mega-publisher that does what it wants, main thing moneyflow is there. They fire old staff, freeze projects, outsource them to extra-low payment coders, sell titles further, sue fanprojects, ignore community wishes, make like 4 titles all from scratch instead of one but finished, etc. Something all know anyway :)
I like getting games from Good Old Games however I've noticed that some of the older titles don't quite work right with the newer NT versions of Windows (XP,Vista,7).
I have no problems so far with the gaming titles at gog that were originally released when XP was out. Some of their titles are quite recent as well.Kind of surpised that
iL-2 Sturmovik 1946 was at good old games and they have some other top titles as well for dirt cheap.
@ajones6302 i agree with you $5 is a good price on games thats why i pa that but i do download the games that cost a shit load more like bad company 2 BUT thing is that not all of us do have the possibility of buying things over internet i can use credit card but i dont trust my self and tell me ONE store that sell Duke nukem _/ Shadow warrior / Doom 1, 2 in store and i go there right away. . . . oh yeah that was 20 years ago so there is none so i HAVE to use torrents
@pappo666 Use Paypal instead, which GOG accepts. All you need is a bank account -- attaching a pre-paid credit card to your Paypal account will let you make instant purchases even after the money runs out also. Been doing this a long time.
I installed duke nukem but it does not run on my vista 32 bit. It will finish the setup menu and then it goes back to my desk top. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! I paid FOR IT AND GOT NOTHING IN RETURN!!!!!!!
I got all the games from that site... free.. illegal, yes. Virus, no. Just have to have a brain and you can install and crack a game faster then you can buy it from that stupid site. stop trying to promote this garbage and make people pay SO much $ for such old games..
to hell with GOG why pay 5 to 10 dollars for gams like doom duke3d or ut99 when i can any of those games on amazon for as little as 1 cent point less and i wouldnt want to pay for old games like thats anyways and for new games with drm and it dont install your just a retard and your comp dont work but thats my guess you must be hitting cancel or something
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

GOG is having a promotion: During this week, until Monday, June 1 at 11:59 p.m., you can buy Duke Nukem bundle including Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition and Duke Nukem Manhattan Project with a 25% discount. The whole action packed bundle will cost you just $8.98, this week only! To receive the discount you have to buy both games in one order or click here to receive the discount and all those of you who already have one of the games can grab the other one with a $1.50 discount.
@DotaMaster321 games are way more dangerous to pirate than music or video, as they have to be installed and plug directly into your hardware, which leaves your computer so vulnerable and bypasses anti-virus software.
A movie or song is just played by reading a data file, giving no extra system access.
@MrDavidCollins No, he's talking about a (sometimes third-party) upgrade patch to make it work on newer OSes. As you may remember, many of these old games were coded to work on a certain operating system. Not a crack.
Good Old Games buys the rights to the games from whoever owns them (don't know if Duke Nuke'em 3D's developers did), then has its engineers patch up the games and optimize them for running on modern computers. Not a bad deal for $5.99-$9.99 per game (not to mention a few free titles they carry, like Watchmen artist Dave Gibbon's Beneath a Steel Sky point and click adventure game). I'm a loyal and happy GoG customer, who's purchased Jagged Alliance 1 and Deadly Games from the company.
