@GustaveKwak Probably because she was born into a Philadelphia high-society family, and she in fact went on to become a princess. She had the 'fair' factor compared to Ava, since Ava was famous for partying and drinking and her three marriages.

Though what I just mentioned was in no way meant to tarnish her image. Ava at an early age was thrust into the MGM system and had a lot of choices made for her.

Nonetheless, she was a consumate and bona fide star in every way.

@andeaver1937 maybe there's some prole outrage inside to protest over kelly, who could also be as indiscreet as gardner in her private lives. perhaps, candidness is what i appreciate on gardner. just as in mogambo, kelly is the one who betrays her husband for clark gable whom she later shoots in a haste anger, but ostantatiously she acts guiltlessly like lily while she's the one doublecrossing and hurting others.

@andeaver1937 besides, in kelly's personal life, she also had affairs with married men like ray milland and gary cooper. i don't find kelly any higher than gardner except she just knows better to hide and act decent. i have nothing against kelly, who is also one of my frequently watched actresses, and i just try to make a point that reputation doesn't necessarily reflect the actuality. obviously, i ADORE ava more!

Why? Because all mankind know that this was only the part she played in Mogambo and not the true Grace Kelly! But relax: they were close friends, Grace Kelly (inviting her to Monaco) and Ava Gardner, they surely tied the match in real life!

my goodness she was so beautiful and talented both but ava was a real natural beauty....i was reading that ava while making this ate her food up in her room (donald) was saying he couldnt wait to meet her gable said she's already here sh had her meals sent up! so donald not thinking that was polite went to invite her to dinner he knocked on the door says who he was and she was like 'ha who' he apparently said ive come to inviteyou to dinner she looked him up and down and was like sure! lol
