  • Awesome video!

  • I liked your vid!

  • @bradacus Thank you!

  • Funny I aggree with everything but still liked the movie !!!

  • Terrible film, lousy action scenes, dreadful story.

  • You try too hard and it doesn't work!

Sorry dude, enjoy the next Episodes 4, 5, 6, all CGI'd, hahaha!

Coming soon to a Hell near you!

  • Your reasons inst strong enough to even bother. You just dont like the movie, but its nothing wrong with it Your problem is that the new star wars movies are made in a totally different and modern way so its missing the old star wars spirit in a way. Still nothing wrong with the movie. I could complain about riddicules nonsense from the old star wars movies also that is stupid but thats easier to accept isnt it? Because its the old ones right?

  • @CU2UK That's not quite right. I really do like the new movies, but the point you seem to have missed is that some liberties have been taken with the timeline and it's skewed the rest of the story.

My original intention was to do this critique for ALL SIX movies; i have no prejudice against the newer ones. The title of the project is "What's Wrong with Star Wars" not "What's Wrong with the New Star Wars". I've had software problems and wasn't able to do the rest of the project. Maybe soon.

  • @CU2UK

everyone got a point of view sure but watch the review of the prequels by RedLetterMedia and you will see reasons strong enough to bother about that pieces of sh@t.

  • @pedalero At least i like the movie, i have an own mind so i dont automaticly like or dislike what everybody else does.

  • @CU2UK I'd really like to hear some of your "RIDICULOUS nonsensical" examples from the original trilogy. Just a few.

  • @Chrisdrumz Ok, i really dont like to complain. Ive heard so many random stuff on episode 1 that isnt even a problem. But i can give you some that i can think of right now. Darth vader strangles his crew through a screen, shouldnt the screen be crushed? I mean can he strange people just by watching a foto of someone to? And when Luke, Laia and Han lands on an asteroid. How can they breath on an asteroid? And how can any living thing live there. They didnt think about how things work. You see?

  • @CU2UK I bet you could complain about riddicules nonsense from the old star wars movies, but you would only do it in an attempt to defend the stupidness from the new ones, i need NO reason to complain about riddicules nonsense from the new sage other then the Fact that it is stupid...

  • Agree with you except for Jar Jar, who is still not a good idea, but at least has some kind of personality and distinctive vocal delivery that differentiates him from the drone like performances of actors struggling with bad dialogue and bad direction and the slow, lifeless overal feel of the film.

  • comment removed by the force.

  • @gpgpgp13322 Oooooooh!

  • @gpgpgp13322 midi - chlorians aren't in charge of youtube, are they?

  • @purefirefox oh yes they are lol

  • I loved this!!!! I agree with every point you made. Nice work!!!!

  • @DrewAmante Wow, thanks! I no longer have video editing software (looong story), so I haven't been able to make any more of these for ages.

    Who knows, maybe one day...

  • The CG did not bother me. What did bother me was Jake's horrible acting. Portman's wooden performance. Everything about the Gungans. Focus on Trade Federation. How exciting! An economics lesson in a Star Wars. I was waiting YEARS for that. Darth Maul shows up briefly in a couple of scenes before the showdown. So much for an engaging villian. There was absolutely nothing driving the film forward. It was pointless and boring. Two things an epic should NOT be.

  • @Chronolyse I totally agree. The opening crawl didn't inspire confidence, stating that it was all about a trade dispute. And we waited sixteen years for that.

  • @Chronolyse Damn...i hope george lucas reads that. you hit that on the nail .

  • I don't think the "Phantom Menace" is supposed to refer to a person. Rather I think it refers to a hidden (ie "phantom") force for evil (ie the Sith plot).

In this way the title is appropriate, although I agree that this is a bit of a stretch.

  • @damo2353 Yes, but either way the "Menace" bit really lets it down.

  • lol that was how i watched the pod race, and i think it was almost the best part. it really was a terrible hat trick of films

  • @Mtorrez19 true, true

Luke is the least trained Jedi ever and still.. h can fight vader

the force IS strong with him.... i suppose... :/

  • It might of been bad but there's no chance CGI killed it... Cool puppet or not no one wants to watch fake looking, plastic characters, seriously? New technology is developed its USED in NEW movies.

  • Good criticism, but I still affirm that The Phantom Menace was the best of the prequels (though I may be hated for that remark). The podrace was long and mostly unnecessary, but what about the song number in Jabba's Palace? Also, the midichlorians. My question is this: how come knowledge and use of the force seems to be genetic? I mean, yes it's a force field, but then how come Leia and Luke get it because of Anakin? Midichlorians is the only way to make sense of that I guess.

  • That's exactly what I don't like about midichlorians. They're just something you pass on, which I guess makes them like an STD. Midichlorians make the force genetic, so it's just blind luck if you get it.

  • I'm just saying that the original trilogy basically set up the framework for midichlorians by alluding to the fact that it is an inherited trait. So I'm not sure you can fault the Phantom Menace for coming up with that concrete definition. In Return of the Jedi Luke talked about how his father had the, so then he had it and his sister had it. That's all I'm saying.

Maybe I'm thinking about this way too much. :-)

  • ***how his father had the force

  • That's a fair point. I just think that Lucas could've gone another way with it, such as leaving out the scientific explanation and allowing the audience to theorise on what the force is.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  • @MendelsonShape I'm thinking the new trilogy wasted a good opportunity by introducing the midichlorians. The Force should have been something that a person only developed over years of study. The reason it ran in Luke's family could have been because of some mysterious forbidden experiments that resulted in Anakin- Anakin could have spent the movie trying to unravel the mystery behind his own birth. That would have made for a good subplot. (Instead of what we got.)

  • @theproplady I like your thinking. I feel that the force should have remained as ambiguous as it was in the original trilogy.

  • But the point is we hadn't seen that at the time, so how does Qui-Gon know?

  • the film was okay....5, 6, 7 out of 10.. i cant decide

  • what's with the backdrop?

  • I said IGNORE IT! It's the best I could do. I even ironed it for the next video.

  • haha great! And I agree! And I too have a hang-up on such details... ;-)

  • Good argument, but 9/10 years late to argue about it?

  • Well, it's not really an argument. As I said at the start it's just to get it off my chest.

  • I agree ! :O

  • CGI doesn't cut it for me - It just doesn't look real and the movement is unrealistic. Plus the story line and sub-par acting added to TPM's failures. Big budget craptacular sci-fi movies today generally have no imagination or soul but at least they make us appreciate the older movies even more.

  • I did not like this movie one bit. Being a lifelong fan of the original films I still remember the excitement of waiting throughout the late 90's to see this and the undescribable disappointment I felt upon leaving the cinema on opening day. I did not pay to see Episode 2 at the cinema as a consequence but I still held out a little bit of hope and watched the second film on a copied DVD...Rightly so too as that film was also pants.
