You're an amazing keyboard player but your theory is very flawed. The solo for Riders on the Storm is of course in E minor, just using a C# accidental, as the chords called for it.
This information doesn't really help for playing along to Doors songs, rather it helps for playing along to songs that are in a minor key that contain a natural 6th.
@decko87 i might cause a bit of an uproar by saying this, but the way i see it, the main verse/chorus section is in E dorian, which is essentially D major. The the first "half" of the keyboard solo is played in E dorian, then he jumps into an E blues at one part, then back into E dorian towards the end.. i can play the entire solo verbatim to how Ray did it, so I know the notes are right, just my perspective may be wrong...

Hey man, Riders is in E Dorian Mode, which has the same notes as D, but starts on E.

he actually used dorian scales... for riders it's e-dorian. (same notes as D)
church modes you know...
it's a door-ian mode :p
