  • Ironically, the original PSA actually WAS animated in Japan (by Toei Animation, to be exact!) Maybe that's another reason why Fenslerfilm did that for here?

M: Is there something wrong? W: Nice to meet you.* M: Please call me after 2~3 days. I'm not a Japanese myself and I haven't studied translation so there might be some ambiguities w/e.

  • What's the name of the song that plays when the GI Joe catches the kid? I forgot but it's really familliar

  • You mean the very brief bit? It may be used in other things, but I know it's at least in the Star Wars game Jedi Knight, so it might be in the soundtrack somewhere...

  • Cobra lalalalalala!!!!!!

  • LMAO! Japanese just because it's Quick Kick.

  • hell ya!

  • wow the japanese way of saying "gi joe" at the end is so much better than the english way.

  • i think you might be suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder TBABSOSWEET

  • For years, I thought they were saying

"GI Watashi no Fukuu' which means,

    "GI I am a Uniform'

  • Konichiwa!

  • lmao thats so funny

  • "What time is it?"

"Hold on, I have to change into my kimono"

    "Hello"

"I am glad to see you"

    "Let me introduce you Mr.Sakata"

    "Are you okay? Anything new?"

    "Nice to see you"

"Please call me a couple days later"

    "See you then"

  • Thanks!

  • i though genhi desu ka meant are you in a good mood today or something like that

  • sorry i mean geki desu ka

  • yeah that's right too, but the word "genki (元気)" has many different meanings such as "healthy", "energetic", and "good mood" in this case, i thought that translation was the most appropriate, but since each japanese word has so many meanings, there is no universal definition of "genki'; that really depends on how we perceive the situation.

  • "O genki desu ka" is equivilant to "How are you?" or "Are you well?"

  • probably in this case it means are you ok? (o genki desu ka?)

  • no, it's along the lines of "I'm good, how are you." so, similar i suppose

  • "何時ですか"

    "着物を着替えるまで待って下さい"

    "こんにちは"

    "どうぞ宜しく"

    "坂田さんをご紹介します"

    "お元気ですか?変わったことはありませんか?"

    "はじめまして"

    "二三日したら電話をかけてください"

    "ではまた"

  • hajimemashite! [snort] So much primary Japanese I'm surprised I didn't hear the following conversation:

    1: "Tonkatsu? Sakana desu ka?"

2: "Ja arimasen. Niku desu. Oishii desu yo."

    or at least:

    1: "Daijobu?"

    2: "Daijobu."

    That would have been QUALITY.

  • scoobyscoobyscooyscobbyscooby snaks

  • Lol the ending is by far the best part

  • the ending is the best

  • Konnichiwa itisu desu ke ! Rofl

  • teewarratassikuussucuuurruuu!

  • HAHAHA!!

Priceless, the translation is amazing, no?

  • LOL- 'What time is it?' "Just a minute I have to change into my kimono." *falls* "Good afternoon!" "Pleased to meet you!" "Let me also introduce Takada-san" "Are you doing well?" "What's up?" "Nice to meet you." "Write down your phone number please" "Umm... gotta go!" (That's as much as I can get out of it anyway)

  • You're awesome! I always wondered what they were saying...

  • For some wierd reason, this reminded me of the ninja weapons South Park episode.

  • So great. Like random phrases from a "Learning Japanese" CD and put up together in a most awesome manner.

  • Comment removed

  • Why did that kids scream like Glover?

  • How do you know what Glover screams like?

  • I was terrible at that game...

  • why the hell did the kid say "let's begin" after he said, "Awa totoko alimasen desshita"?

  • The ending is the best.

  • LOL! They're speaking Japanese and then, "GI JOE! A Real American Hero" ROFLCOPTA

  • Dewa mata!

    So awesome...

  • lol, 90% of that was "Hello, how are you?"

  • um, i don't speak japanese, what are they saying?

  • sounds like clips from a "learn japanese in 10 minutes" casette tape. i lol'd at "hajimemashite" when he caught the kid.

  • I don't know what that means, i only speak german and english... sorry.

  • "pleased to meet you", basically

  • cuz he's azn huh... GOSH lol

  • So randomly awsome <3

  • meh, not as good as the others

  • Yeah, would have been funnier imo if the kids were the only ones speaking Japanese, and the GI guy wasn't, lol.

  • Whats funny about the whole thing, they just kept saying greetings to each other hahaha

  • gee watakusi kasi gulu!

  • QI WARA TASHI FU SUKURU

  • XD that was the best part of the video.

  • Thanks for clearing that up for us, otherwise we might have had to use our eyes and watch the damn thing instead.

  • Obviously not. Do you read comments before replying to them?

  • the voice talking about changing clothes sounds like Yuki from Fruits Basket.

  • wow that Japanese GI Joe is fucking CUT!

  • GEE WARATASHI FUSU KURU

  • He says 2、3日したら電話をかけてください。

"2, 3 nichi shitara dennwa wo kake kudasai"

which means: Please phone me in 2 or 3 days.

  • i no understand :(

  • Jii Wara Tashi Fu Sukuru

  • HAHAHA

  • Is there any translation for the ending? The part with the GI JOE title that sounds like "chi wara tashi fuzu kuru"?

As far as my Japanese goes that doesn't mean anything.

  • awesome dubs

  • It's basically a bunch of ritualistic expressions based around greetings. The order is all fucked up but they make sense.

    J: Nan ji desu ka?

    E: What time is it?

J: Kimono tsukaeru aida dake, matte kudasai.

E: I was just putting on clothes, wait a moment.

    J: Konnichiwa.

    E: Good day.

    J: Douzo yoroshiku.

E: (literally) Please treat me favorably.
