It's not about being cheap. It's a cool idea for water use and ease of sprouting. These are some of the best sprouts I've ever had! But I agree with you about the potential for contamination with bacteria - although we never got sick from it. I think there is a higher chance of getting sick from not washing your hands after using the bathroom and then going into the kitchen to rinse sprouts. Regardless, we don't sprout this way anymore.
this is sick or could make you sick.there is shit and piss floating in the air when you use the bathroom and flush.this setup is very very unheathy.this is very gross.would you eat a meal in the restroom.then dont grow it in there.quit being cheap and do it safely.
