History has no record of a Palestinian state. The name "Palestine" was given to the region by the Romans during their reign. Before the early 1900's the Turks were in charge for 700 years and there certainly was not a Palestinian state. Only after WW I when England promised the Jews a homeland did this become an issue. Arabs were there but not as a national entity. The Jews were given the land under agreements reached at the end of the war. And don't forget how four Arab countries attacked

However, the entire article puts things in the context of a besieged Jewish community in Jerusalem. There was an ongoing effort to cut off all supplies to the Jews in Jerusalem and this Massacre was obviously part of retaliation. Doesn't justify the killing but changes the context to something other than brutality just for the heck of it.

They have over 3000 years of ties to the land and were the majority for large periods of time in history. Land was captured as a result of hostility towards Israel and israel has always been willing to trade land for peace, but The Palestinians have not be willing to commit to a two state peaceful solution.

Israel is in violation of more United Nations resolutions than almost any other country, and international organizations routinely condemn the illegal occupation, even check Amnesty International.

History has no record of a Palestinian state. The name "Palestine" was given to the region by the Romans during their reign. Before the early 1900's the Turks were in charge for 700 years and there certainly was not a Palestinian state. Only after WW I when England promised the Jews a homeland did this become an issue. Arabs were there but not as a national entity. The Jews were given the land under agreements reached at the end of the war. And don't forget how four Arab countries attacked

@budlangpapa It was Israel which cited pages of reservations to the Clinton Parameters, and if you actually look at a map of the intended settlement proposed by Israel (information rarely made available by western media) it is obvious that no viable Palestinian state was offered, only separated cantons, with most of the valuable land annexed to Israel and no possibility for real sovereignty and economic integration in the proposed Palestinian state.

They outnumbered and out gunned Israel by a huge margin. Israel purchased their first arms from a Czech source. Their first jet fighters, which came years later were from France not the US. Only after multiple efforts by Arab countries trying to obliterate them did they get assistance from the US.

@budlangpapa In reality Israel's declaration of independence in 1948 was followed by a massive operation of ethnic cleansing and terror perpetrated by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the newly proclaimed "Jewish state." This resulted in the uprooting of several hundred thousand Palestinians who fled their homes in what is today Israeli territory. Many fleeing because of what they heard were massacres and other crimes committed against Palestinian residents, which was in fact the case.

@budlangpapa If you had any concern for the truth you might want to research the Deir Yassin massacre which occurred in exactly the period I refer. If you know anything about history, it doesn’t come as a surprise that neighboring Arab states decided to intervene. And by the time they did, over half a million Palestinian civilian refugees were already fleeing from the advancing Israeli forces, many of those refugees seeking safety in neighboring Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and other countries.

@wnxsilence Ok, I just read the entire article about Deir Yassin on Wikipedia. Haven't had time to look further. It was obviously an ugly incident. However, the entire article puts things in the context of a besieged Jewish community in Jerusalem. There was an ongoing effort to cut off all supplies to the Jews in Jerusalem and this Massacre was obviously part of retaliation. Doesn't justify the killing but changes the context to something other than brutality just for the heck of it.

What I wrote earlier, if you read correctly, is that the massacre was part of a larger program of ethnic cleansing commited by Israeli forces against Palestinian residents preceding the declaration of a "Jewish state" and also in its aftermath.

It also had the effect of stengthening the resolve of Arab countries to intervene which they later did. You simply backwards rationalize based on your bias to defend Israeli actions, saying that Jews were 'retaliating.'
In my view if anyone is doing the retaliating in the Israel-Palestine conflict, it was and has always been the Palestinians.

@budlangpapa As for the Palestinian resistance, I do not see anything wrong about their struggle against the Israeli occupation. The United Nations charter gaurentees the right of people to fight against "racist and colonial regimes" and to defend themself against agression and foreign occupation.
If your country was occupied and you were evicted from your home so your neighborhood could be colonized by others, would you resist or not? If so, don't tell Palestinians not to do the same.

Another openly said that it was only "when" not "if" that they would eventually rule the world. I don't think I have ever heard such statements come from Israli officials.
