All drugs need to be legalized. Marijuana isn't a drug. Heroin and Crack needs to be legalized because there would be no more criminals running the business. At my studio.. two doors down from my space, there are two gentlemen legaly growing medical Marijuana. It smells so bad... I don't care if anyone uses weed. As long as they don't harm anyone while smoking it.. like driving.. and flying.. I don't do any drugs ... but who am I to stop someone from using it. It's just a way for the Government to get into our bank accounts and lives..
I have a few friends that got really into weed and destroyed there lives. Skipping half of school to get high then getting nocked up. Disowned by parents. It was a mess.

Pro pot. Never knew of anyone that died from it or could not remain a productive citizen. Meth is really bad news. If pot were legal, I'd bet meth and other hard drugs would not be so prevalent and perhaps fewer people using alcohol.
I'm pretty much 100% in-line with how MadBad feels. It'd take one more illicit income stream away from fraudsters. Force them to come up with new ideas or risk more exposure in others to cheat us. It'd also provide more hemp uses, possibly to the point that it becomes a traded commodity like soy. And there's no telling what medical breakthroughs we can make in less-addictive pain management with modern research methods, agricultural techniques and genome engineering to make more potent stuff.

I don't think making marijuana would put the cartels out of business, though. If they were to legalize it, they would put a tax on it. So it would be more expensive then street weed, and then people would still be buying the cartel's weed. It wouldn't put the big leaguers out of business.

I think it's ludicrous that marijuana isn't legalized and taxed. If you look at the negative effects of cigarettes vs marijuana, cigarettes should be illegal. Not to mention the insane amount of people put into the prison system due to either possession or sale of weed. I would venture to say it's safer and has less side effects then most of the anti-depressants on the market. We need to move on from the 50's mentality of lumping it in with hardcore drugs like cocaine and meth.
It's an herb given to us by the creator. There are valid medicinal uses, especially for those on chemo who are nauseous and have lost appetite. I'm going to agree with what mmmmmmmmk said. Our founding fathers grew it and smoked it. It should be legalized and possibly taxed a little if it is packaged and sold in stores like booze. I just quit doing it, not because I have anything against it, but I don't like being under the influence of anything really..and something else having control over my body. Regarding taxes, just think about how much of our tax money goes to fighting this marijuana battle..prosecuting people, incarcerating people, cops hiking around trying to find and burn crops. It all ads up to a lot of non-value added efforts and expenses. Legalize it and cut that BS out of the budget...if you want to tax it like cigarettes ok....in the end the consumer will probably still come out ahead. Buy Phillip-Morris stock if they do legalize it - dominate distribution of it.

I'm against pot and I'm against legalizing it. Pot ruins families and peoples lives. Pot cannot be measured with a breathalizer and it impairs driving abilities.

I'm pretty much 100% in-line with how MadBad feels. It'd take one more illicit income stream away from fraudsters. Force them to come up with new ideas or risk more exposure in others to cheat us. It'd also provide more hemp uses, possibly to the point that it becomes a traded commodity like soy. And there's no telling what medical breakthroughs we can make in less-addictive pain management with modern research methods, agricultural techniques and genome engineering to make more potent stuff.

I think it's ludicrous that marijuana isn't legalized and taxed. If you look at the negative effects of cigarettes vs marijuana, cigarettes should be illegal. Not to mention the insane amount of people put into the prison system due to either possession or sale of weed. I would venture to say it's safer and has less side effects then most of the anti-depressants on the market. We need to move on from the 50's mentality of lumping it in with hardcore drugs like cocaine and meth.

I HATE MARIJUANA!! But I align myself as a conservative libertarian as well. And I don't think it is my right to decide to for someone else. I also know that here in Oklahoma the top grossing crop every year is marijuana and it is going completely unregulated. That's a lot of money that could drop our personal taxes and I'm all for that!

I'm going to agree with what mmmmmmmmk said. Our founding fathers grew it and smoked it. It should be legalized and possibly taxed a little if it is packaged and sold in stores like booze. Also a lot of our police resources are heavily burdened by the "Drug War". A war that can not be won. Legalization would free them up for more important things like enforcing the 'texting while driving' laws.

I haven't smoked marijuana since I was around 18-ish or 19-ish either. I just quit doing it, not because I have anything against it, but I don't like being under the influence of anything really..and something else having control over my body. I've always been like that though. That's why I hate elevators or those blood pressure machines you stick your arm in at stores, haha. I'm afraid I'll get stuck and I'll be helpless :P.

I'm anti control freak. If you think you have a right to tell anyone what they can do with their own body- I got a problem with that. If you think you can tell what plants one can consume or grow, I got a problem with that. Smoke it, bake with it, self medicate with it, make rope, clothing, and tons of other things with it.... LEGALIZE IT? NO it's not for them to legalize a GOD GIVEN RIGHT. These control freak POS need to worry about themselves and stick their opinions back where they came from.

I'm 23 years old and I've never tried ANY illegal substances. I have NEVER understood why marijuana is against the law while regular tobacco and alcohol are NOT. I agree 100% Madbad!

i agree voodoo it should be legal. I am a classical liberal and libertarian its up to the individual to decide. Weed is really nothing and beside its medicinal uses it has many other practical uses that could aid our society at this crucial juncture in our lives. especially its use in making textiles and plastics as well as a great food source. the seeds are very high in nutrients and protein and it can also be made into hemp milk.

Backey......what a fucked up name for that. Marijuana=taco bell + sleep. It's only illegal because the govt says it's illegal. It's just like alcohol....it's intoxicating. And I agree...society and stress is a gateway drug. Marijuana and alcohol are just excuses for people who are on drugs. People make the decision to do drugs.

Regarding taxes, just think about how much of our tax money goes to fighting this marijuana battle..prosecuting people, incarcerating people, cops hiking around trying to find and burn crops. It all ads up to a lot of non-value added efforts and expenses. Legalize it and cut that BS out of the budget...if you want to tax it like cigarettes ok....in the end the consumer will probably still come out ahead. Buy Phillip-Morris stock if they do legalize it - dominate distribution of it.

@Gazerbeam72 I don't know, it seems that the government actually has industrialized the whole system and therefore has a financial interest in keeping it going. Every time they put someone on probation that's another customer. Every time they bust a pot grower and seize their assets they are turning a profit.

And if it was legal those hillbillies would still grow just not make as much. And some of those guys know there shit when it comes to growing cannabis. I say legalize it, if someone wants to sit on their back porch in the evening and smoke a joint who is he hurting. Even if it is unhealthy it is their own body, if they believe it is dangerous they can put a warning on the label and if someone ignores the label thats their own fault.

It's going to be legalized soon enough. Everyone is realizing it will be just like alcohol. Legalize and shut down the cartels. (Unless of course the cartels already have too much power in the Gov).
