  • GREG MAY of Orlando, FL says: "As a kid I was glued to the TV every Saturday night watching this show. The closing credits said it was filmed at the Miami Seaquarium so I bugged my parents to take me there so I could meet Flipper and Bud & Sandy. Being frugal people, they took me to Marineland (only 2 hrs away) to meet Flippers's 'cousins'. This began my lifelong fascination for Marineland. Read articles on the website, florida backroads travel.com."

  • grew up as a kid watching this after school..lol..couldnt wait to see it..haha..i remember when flipper came back with a friend...flipper and flipperett...lol

  • RIP Flipper T_T

  • I agree. If u remeber Sandy and bud in the oringal sweires at the end nver went to the same college, so Sandy could not of stole Bud's gf. All crap.

  • Check out my piano rendition of Flipper!

  • Brian Kelly....... yum!

  • I am a Flipper as well as a fan of the old shows Lassie, I grew up on these shows and boy what memories these shows bring back, Thank you so much for posting these, God bless.

  • This show I used to watch when I was a kid, boy oh boy what memories this brings back.

  • the cove

  • Flipper nearly killed himself. During his last years he lived in captivity in a zoo in Sao Paulo Brazil where he banged his head into a pool wall everyday but he was eventually released into the wild.

  • all 87 episodes are on hulu!

  • Brian Kelly was hot!!

  • the dolphin's suffered so much within the filming-conditions (they were each week transported in boxes"""")

Read about the dolphin-trainer Ric O'Barry!

But I have to say, I really liked Flipper. Very pleased to see Brian Kelly, whom I and my Daddy liked a lot. What a wonderful person he was/is!

  • Flipper is so cute and i luv these two boys with their shirts off all the time. Tommy Norden is really cute!! :)

  • Man, Bud is really packing some biceps at :03!

  • Man had I a crush on Luke Halpin....

  • my ex wife went through drug rehab with the older kid

  • When did that happen? In what part of the country?

  • Well thats me well and truly "Out the Closet" so to speak - Flipper, Lassie Come Home, Skippy and Rolf Haris all part of my Childhood DIet - Better send for the "Men in White Coats then" Ha Ha

  • Creepy Girl from Catalina Caper at 1:00!

  • the dolphin that did most the flipper scenes committed suicide

  • I heard about that years ago. I didn't think animals committed suicide.

  • this is true. the new movie The Cove, had Ric O'Barry and he explained how it voluntarily closed its blow hole, therefore committing suicide.

  • woohoo flipper , possible chemtrail at 0:32 :(

  • I like flipper ..when they mix it up with canned Tuna

  • not seen THAT for quite a while:)

  • I used to have this movie when i was like 8. I loved it! I haven' seen it for a while.

  • Movie??

  • this version of the theme song is very 'Dean Martinish'

  • Yes that is so cute.

  • The dog licking that kid's face at 0:47 reminds of Skippy licking the kid's face on the Skippy opening.

  • Which song r we talking about.

  • The words of this song could describe almost any politician.

  • I wasn't aware of this version of the theme song. Thanx for it. Im more familiar with the choral version of the theme song. I think the dolphin , who played Flipper, died in 1971 and was actually a female.

*(Jessica Alba was in the mid 90s tv series filmed for the most part in Australia. Don't know if that version is out on DVD but would suspect it is since Alba went on to bigger things.)

  • Yes. I like this version also.

  • Songs for kids! But funny!

  • Someone should do a show that combines Flipper, Skippy, Gentle Ben and Lassie in a reunion kind of special. But done like it was in the 60's..NOT today!

  • I agree. I just finsihed doing the theme of Skippy in audio format. it is over 4 mins long.

  • forgot to post in my other comment. Flipper is my favourite Show i normaly watch it when im bored

  • i cant believe theres 4 types of flipper or is there more?

  • Flipper aired on Nickelodeon.

  • When was that?

  • yo wasnt jessica alba in this show or sumtin

  • No this is the Oringal TV series in the 60s.

  • This was filmed in Virginia

    Key in Biscayne Bay Miami

you can see what is now Jimbo's in the background

It's now a bikers dive bar hide out

  • my fav when I was a child, it's nice to remember the old days, thanks for posting

  • You are very welcome. I am glad I could make someone happy. :)

I am making a DVD very soon on 50 years of TV.

  • They talk to Flipper like he totally understands what they're saying. "Hey Flipper, what classes do you think I should take next year?" "E-E!, E-E!".

  • If u see Skippy, Lassie and Gengle Ben they all act the same also as well as Mr Ed the talking horse. :)

  • i think its cute. that's one of the charms of these shows. that Timmy can give Lassie complex instructions and Lassie knows exactly what he's talking about. these shows are great fun. Thanx for posting them. it makes me want to go out and get the DVDs to Flipper. "E-E!, E-E!" :)

  • Totally awesome ! I love classic Flipper just as much now at 41 as I did when I was 6 !

  • I do 2, and now onw the 2 original films and the 1st Season on DVD. My buddy who is 48 alkso wanted to borrow the series just because I love it.

  • I hope they bring this out again...my little boy would LOVE it!

  • Yes we all do

  • love ya flipper !

  • we loved flipper and his family too, in switzerland!!!

  • Nice to know Flipper is loved all over the world.

  • my mom and her brother used to watch it in 1964!!! cool huh?

  • Yes it is. I use to watch it too when it came on also. Now I own the 2 origianl films and season 1. :)

  • My dad used 2 watch this when he was my age!!

  • How old r u?

  • What a dolphin!

  • Did they ever mention on the TV show where they got the name Flipper?

  • Not on TV, but in the original movie there is just a hint: Sandy (Luke Halpin) goes out to where the dolphin, wounded, has beached itself. He pleads, "Please move...just a flipper or something!" (It doesn't do so.) The word, then, is apparently planted in his mind.

  • Cool! Thanks for the trivia!

  • FLIPPER FTW!!!!

  • What is FTW?

  • "Flies Thru Water"..... of course! :-)

  • I never heard the term FTW? What does the l;etters stand for?

  • for the win

  • if you get a group of gay men of a certain age together, everyone has something to say about flipper's dad. Brian Kelly, you live in our imaginations...

  • Well I know a few people who like Luje Halpin.

  • Yea Brian Kelly was VERY HANDSOM!

  • I think Dusky is persistent. So shall I be. I thought O'barry admitted to not knowing how to train and could only starve his animals to make them work. Regardless, hard to imagine anything but ratings canceling a TV show.

  • I din't think he starved them

  • Not intentionally. But, he only knew how to use food. That's not training; it's baiting. And apparently didn't work out for his animals.

  • That is not good.

  • At the time "Flipper's New Adventure" was released, producer Ivan Tors wrote:

"Observing the affectionate treatment of the [dolphin] mother towards its young, it occurred to us to apply the same technique. We decided to abandon the conventional training method, which in essence places the dolphin in the position of a circus performer. "One of the young dolphins, separated from her sick mother, was placed in a salt water lagoon. We decided to treat her the same way her mother did....

  • "....Luke Halpin joined the dolphin. He swam alongside of her, touched her rhythmically and kept her company the way her mother had. Luke's presence reduced the shock of loneliness created by the loss of her mother and the dolphin returned his affectionate dolphin-like training in kind. "The boy and the dolphin swam and played together as only two dolphins would. The dolphin's response and gratitude were beyond belief."

  • Great memories! I love that episode and that version of the theme song. If I remember correctly, Frankie Randall sang it.

  • I love thosw scenes 2. I just got Season 1. Is there a full version of him singing it?

  • Enough of the people! We want to see more Flipper!

  • Season 1 now is out on DVD.

  • in the first season isn't it like a totaly differnt song? because i haven't heard this song as the theme before

  • Yes. This song was only used in 5 or 6 episodes.

  • Ric O'Barry used to train the dolphins used to play Flipper and the reason the series stopped was because the dolphins became too dangerous to be in the water with. DOLPHINS ARE NOT TOYS. They are not all smiling, gentle, angelic beings. They are WILD animals that need to be RESPECTED.

  • I always thought Dophins were friends of men. Very gentle like Sea World.

  • This is the winning nomination for Mitt Romney's theme song

  • Is that who sings it?

  • Luke sure got alot of scantily clad face time in the credits didnt he?

  • How do u mean?

  • Whatever became of the red haired kid Tommy Nordin? Probably a used car salesman at this point right?

  • He dropped out of site.

  • Porter Ricks is HOT!

  • I am glad u think he was Hot. I thought Ullas was hot myself. :)

  • old memories came up,seeing this :)

  • your welcome

  • awesome

  • thank u

  • Flipper is cute. But the way they talk to him like he 'understands'. "Hey Flipper, go to the store and get a loaf of bread, then do my taxes". "E-E, E-E".

  • Tommy Norden as Bud is kind of cute, but I love Flipper and his little sounds. Porter Ricks is cool, too.

  • Yes i agree 2

  • Bonjour. Je m'appelle Flipper. J'habite dans la mer. Je suis gris.

  • Flipper is so cute. Just swimming around there. Not a care in the world. No queing for the fuckin bus to go to a job he hates. Just swims around in the warm water, laughing at humans, while we think he is putting a show on for us. Good for you Flipper! Even puts himself up on youtube.

  • LOL!!!!!

  • If he looks that cute, you knows he's plotting something. He's out there, with his mates who escaped that Naval facility after Katrina, and you know they're plotting something...

  • And thats the frightening bit. People out there dont realise this. Flipper has some serious connections in the "underworld"

  • flipper flipper jeder kennt ihn, den klugen delfin ;)

  • Who is the singer? Kind of has a Bobby Darin-style to it.

  • I honestly couldn't tell u.

  • I think it was James Darren

  • It was Frankie Randall.

  • Thank u. Is there a full version to that theme?

  • I only know of what was broadcast of that theme.

  • OMW I had no idea andy devine was in flipper!!!

  • He was in it for a few eps in the first season.

  • One of m,y friends in the Yahoo users group Flipper did this video.

  • I picture a second rate singer at some cheezy lounge singing this song in some lousy Vegas casino, but I kinda like it.

  • The theme was used in the first 6 eps of the 2nd season. A friend of mine in my Flipper users groupd did this.

  • Heck Yes! =)

  • I LIKE THE OTHER THEME BETTER -_-

  • I love the other theme also, but this theme was used in the fiorst 6 eps of season 2.

  • I wish they did a full length theme on CD from the original Flipper movie with Chuck Connors that ran for over 3 mins,

  • they need to bring back flipper on primetime -_-

  • You mean make a new series? They did that in the late 90's. Ran for three seasons. Jessica Alba was on the show, actually.

  • In the first season had a new Bud, when he left they should have brought back the character of Sandy like they did in 1 ep in season 1.

  • u mean on the New Adventures of Flipper? Wish the introduced the regulars characters when they re idid Flipper. I didn't like the New Bud or Sandy. It was bad as in this series they fought where in the original they were close.

  • I love both of them.

  • I know this theme off by heart. Did u realize in the original 1963 Movie they sung the full version to this theme, and I also love the Them to Flipper's New Aventure 1964. It was also similar. Which I own both movies.

  • I do do with the theme to Flipper's New Adventure.
