  • If Matthew Macfadyen came up to me and said "I fancy you. Here's my number." I wouldn't think twice before tackling him to the ground. The old dating style is very sweet, but when it comes to Matt, timing is everything ;)

  • I barely know what dating is like in this century :(

  • I quite like the discussion of etiquette in this video, but it's 1800s, not 18th century, really...

  • 3:20 anyone knows what is the name of the song? *-*

  • Wonder if that's what he said to his wife... I fancy you, here's my no. LOL

  • I fancy you, here's my number.

    AHAHAHA LOL

  • I totally agree. Now, it's so hard to tell what other people think. So many mixed signals...

  • dating in whatever time period or culture is hectic, exhausting and consumes much energy and emotional investment. Why can't we be like trees?

  • matthew's eargasmic voice

  • loved the topic for this interview! matthew macfadyen has to be one of my favorite english actors :D

  • i wanna go back in time and place ahhhhhhhhhh

  • oh God matthew macfadyen >< and to think that i'm fangirling a married man T.T

  • @funkpunkmonkey

    It's okay....i'm fangirling too.....

  • please tell us what´s the name of the song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! playing at 3:15?

  • I love this so much. I hope we could bring this period back. No wonder I feel as if I belong to the wrong era.

  • @poshwanders06 that is exactly what i'm feeling as well.... lol! i hope the lines are a lot less blurry nowadays..

  • i wanna have his number ♥.♥

  • In Asia, the whole concept of dating is still pretty much the same as it is in Pride and Prejudice..Thank God for that!

  • haha! "i fancy you, here's my number" ;)

  • now comparing to this time and the old times. the old times is more kind and sweet from gentalmen to ladies. but now in our year its more like " get lost women."

or " you cheated on me so i am not listing to you!"

  • i love matthew macfadyen

  • wow this explains exactly how i feel! i love the dances and how gentlemen respect ladies. i wish we could live in those times now. It would be great! love is so pure especially shown in this movie. people would respect "love" more and not just use it as namesake.

  • did you see? at second 4:10 that´s Mr darcy´s number!!!! Pemberly 261. jajajajaja!

  • I really think we have lost ourselves. I watched pride and Predjudice and really loved the formality of it all. Who says things improve with time?.)..wonderfuk film:)

  • lol @ I fancy you, here's my number.

  • you can hardly understand it when he says "oh i fancy you, heres my number." thank goodness for the subtitles!!

  • Haha. I fancy you, here's my number.

  • comments made in the video are really well said i think! this is a great segment thank you very much for posting :)

  • Yeah but this was only in England, it was different in France, German states and Russia (yes Russians did have the 18th century) or the upper classes did St Petersburg was an aristocrats city, read war and peace and before that Russian's had western dress since about 1690.

  • does anyone know the name of the song that starts playing at 3:15? It's very beautiful! ow, others have asked here ...

  • this movie i love it,love it .love it =), the outfits and the dancing is so pretty , any1 knew more movies like this one about the 18th century ?

  • Comment removed

  • "... how important one touch can be ". Amen.

  • @sumiregusa23 I know!...just beautiful.I wish things would be like that still. With so many rule, people appreciated the simplest things back then. Not like today.Gosh old times were better.

  • I wish these rules still applied!!! And I LOVE that Matthew Macfadyen seems like a real-life Mr. Darcy!!!!!! He seems like such a gentleman! His wife is so lucky!!

  • Thanks for posting this. It's delightful to get this point of view.

  • does anyone know the name of the song?

  • Please!!!!!!!does anyone knows what is the song at the minut 3:22?

  • Hi, thank you so much for uploading this :)

  • Everything seems so great...the dance and dresses and gentlemen and all that...wish I was born back then! :D *sigh*

  • love this i think we totday should go by the same rules we might find things work out for the better.i like a gentleman as i am a lady!!!

  • @livefaithlove88 AGREE!

  • this is late 18th century

  • Fascinating interview. The dancing looks like so much fun. I wish we could still have dances like these.

  • ...or Mr. Thornton's number or Captain Wentworth's number or Mr. Knightley's number...

  • I love this interview! I think those manners are much better than the lack of manners we have now. I always think it's funny how they say they touch people all the time, because that's not quite true. I always hear how strange is even nowadays for British people to see how Brazilians have a tactile nature, very different from theirs... Oh and I wouldn't mind having Mr Darcy's number!
