@7flyinghecks Yes, some of the ladies are posting! I've never riding side saddle, my hats off to these ladies, posting side-saddle is not an easy task.
why do they rap their tails up like that? it looks prettyer if you let it hang because the all the shorter hair is like hanging down and it just looks really good. Idk how to explain it but whatever. and if they do that to make them hold their tails high then i still dont get it cuz my arab QH mix holds his tail that high and he's not even a full arab. he dont trot like that tho, he trots like normal exept he doesnt bend his back legs....
@1233Maya I can't answer the braid question but it doesn't effect how they hold their tail, Arabians have a natural high tail carriage. Arabians also have a free flowing trot, some have a higher break at the knee which has been perfected through proper breeding. Thus, breeding for a Western, Hunter, English, Dressage etc. I had a 3/4 Arabian 1/4 Quarter when I was a child best horse ever!
@Prowinda yeah he's awesome and my mom thinks he might have leg problems... i think he likes to move like that cuz he can and will bend his back legs he just doesnt want to. and Yeah ik they hold there tails high... when he poops he flips his tail up over his butt lol, he has about a 3 or 4 foot tail so the whole tail goes over his butt xD
Not all Americans keep Arabian tails that long. :) I sure don't, because I have do not have the time on my hands to re braid it and bag it everyday. Besides, my show horse is not stalled so it is quite impossible for me. I just let it grow as long as it can naturally. My horse's tail just touches the ground when he is standing still. A long tail can make a horse more eye catching, but is not needed to win. I have won against horses with much longer tails.
@7flyinghecks Oh gosh, I know what it's like to have a long tail and mane to look after! I have a gypsy vanner who lives out in the field. His tail trails around 3 inches behind him during the showing season and his mane down to his shoulders! :) If you did want to grow the tail of your horse a little longer you could try tail bags? I think they're by tail gater, my boy has one on all the time and always has a lovely, long, clean tail! :)
@SabPag672 It is an option in Ladies Side Saddle for riders showing English (Hunt/Saddle Seat) to post or not. Some riders do and others do not. Thank you for watching this video and I hope you'll visit Total Horse Channel main website for more great videos and live feed.
@pacerfreak22 ok I just reread your post . I know fake tails are illegal, I questioned you because you posted yes you can. I just re-read your post and it says yes you CAN'T my bad. Daw I feel stupid I should of payed more attention to what u wrote sorry lol, I knew I wasn't crazy!
My friend is now sometimes riding my saddlebred sidesaddle. I was surprised how well he put up with it. I've never seen it done and this is the first video I've looked up, it's really cool.
The horse at 5:23 is not girthed correctly. The balance strap is either moved back or not looped through the small girth strap. Can be a real pinchng problem for some horses, she's lucky hers must not be. Sidesaddle is a beautiful way to ride, but like anything else, should be done properly to ensure an enjoyabe ride for both horse and rider. But, this was fun to watch!!!
my horse blackie hes a tricana and he is a professional school master at side saddle and dressage hes been on the tv :) he is amazing :) love the video btw <3xx
what did you with the tail, thats really unnaturally like some horses puts them up. Do you soap into the ass?? Sorry for the stupid question but I heard of it but never believed. but the tails of the horses are so strange!
The tails you see on Arabian horses are 100% natural. Arabians do not use fake tails. We pride ourselves on caring for these tails as they grow with washing and briading them up, we bring them down and show them off during competition. Other breeds such as Saddlebred and Walking Horse do use fake tails but never the Arabian, its against the rules
i have tail envy my arab tail is not that long oh how i wish it would grow faster. have a question how do riders stay in the saddle and keep their weight evenly as to not give confusing cues
wow! posting sidesaddle is sooo hard! i usually sit, but usually at horse shows if ur riding english - sidesaddle, i dunno why but they like to see posting! I LOVE sidesaddle, congrats to the people who made it this far! =D They are truly AMAZING riders!
You're allowed to either post or "flounce" (sit the trot). neither is penalized, but posting is generally looked as being pretty cool. It takes a LOT of work though.
The only thing that bothers me is the "overweight" riders. i know a horse can carry a lot of weight, but thats not it. its the rider thats having trouble and it ruins the effect.
Wow, how incredibly disrespectful and idiotic. These are amazing riders and have worked their butts off to get to Nationals and all you can can remark on is their wight? Get a life.
longs tails are common to certain breeds. It also can be the 'show fad'. SUPER long tails were *in* a few years back for western pleasure. Saddlebreeds are typically shown with tails that drag the ground like that too. I LOVE the side-saddle though I ride gaited so I think it would be a bit easier. They do it flawlessly. Hats off.
Theres no way i could ride like that, i dont think id have the nerve lol. However i did notice the horses tails are extremely long, is that tradition? I think it looks awful personally
Are some of these ladies posting? How do they do it?!
