In any case, the fact that the students are protesting means that they're upset about something.

Kerrey called the police because a good number of the "protesters" occupying the building were NOT New School students, making them criminals breaking and entering into a building, THAT is why the police were called. I am a New School (Parsons) student from a working-class background. I pay for my education entirely through scholarships and loans on my own account. As someone who has been involved with those in this conflict, I can tell you that the majority of the students who are demonstrating against Kerrey come from average, middle-class backgrounds. Kerrey's plans for corporatizing the university jeopardize financial aid in the the pursuit of increased profits, one of many reasons we want him out.
