It's my pleasure. Somebody says that Akiko Wada is only soul singer in Japan. Even now, she is active in various fields not only singer but also hostess of TV show in Japan. Now, I am very very surprise that you interested in old japanese movie 「女番長 野良猫ロック」even though you live in Italy.
@ruf1515 I usually like movies from '30s, '40s, '50s. I liked very much japanese original music in the animes, in 70s, when I was a child. I heard Meiko Kaji in Kill Bill, a movie I don't like at all. But remained surprised by those two songs (Shura no Hana e Urmani Bushi) sung by Meiko Kaji. Started to buy her lps, now I have all of them, and the cds collections. (continue)
@ruf1515 (part 2) I truly love her, she was my musical friend, I listened so many times to some of her songs. It was my duty to look at her movies, but I started lately, except the two Lady Snowblood. I don't like too much, and they were a delusion for me. She acts wonderfully, but the movies - I have seen three times each - are average, on my opinion. And she is so cold and different, respect to what I feel in her songs. (continue)
@ruf1515 (part 3) I much prefer a simple tale like "Wandering Ginza Butterfly", this movie brought me back my own Meiko Kaji, the Meiko Kaji I had learnt to love listening to her songs. In a scene, were she asks to be forgiven to the wife of the man she killed some years before, and for she was sentencied to prison, she made me weep. Stray Cat Rock I like because Akiko Wada come into the scene from nowhere, and to nowhere she returns at the end, like Shane in "Shane" (1953). (continue)
@ruf1515 (part 4) The only difference, is that she mounts a bike, not a horse, and is a woman. She has an almost masculine look, yet she remains a beautiful woman, and sings three beautiful songs at the right moment. She goes to the stage and performs "Boy & Girl" almost without reason, if not that she is a good singer in real life.
Once happened to me that, in 1996 they were airing the annual "Sanremo Festival of italian song", and on the stage there were japanese Panda Monkeys (continue)
@ruf1515 (part 5) who had won the Hamamatsu festival. They were singing "Nanohanabatakede Koioshite" (youtube: 1996'第46回イタリアサンレモ音楽祭ゲスト出演『パンダ・モンキーズ』PANDA・MONKEYS IN SANREMO). I remained so impressed, it was a way of singing that has gone lost, sincerity and singing just for the sake of singing, with semplicity. After years without results, I was able to contact them, they were so kind and sent me their owns cds. This "Nanohanabatakede Koioshite" is still one of my favourite songs.
