  • "the animals are in the jungle and the fish are in the water, the "savages" see no need for storage"... what a load of crap... if he knew what he was talking about he'd know the many tribes living in Brazil had already developed many basic storage techniques thousands years before ... crap video

  • Brazil as a empire, well, in the two times Brazil have the corte of the empire, they represent the PORTUGUESE EMPIRE and never the Brazilian empire.

If we can call or see the Brasilian empire begun just after their independenci.

  • The time Spain was in charge of the destinies of Portugal, was the worst time our contry ever pass, the Portuguese in the minds of Spanish people just, .. lets put and use the Portuguese as cannon meat, we get rid of them an then the country are ours with out a single shot.

Spain reach the destini of Portugal by sussessive rights and not by war or conquest.

  • Rome come to the peninsula and never make a plain conquer of the lusitanus, antient population that occupie the antient territori as we know as Portugal.

We fight for almost a millenia agains north Africa, spain and all theie allies and even small on people, we won.

Even the mighty Spain fear us...

  • bLA... BLA, BLA... Portuguese, Dutch, Germans, French, English, Spaniardas.... ebven the hipocrit America... tehe contry of liberti ... COF.... COFF ..... all of then make the same they use slaves.

At least Portugal don,t do what Spain make to their colonies in latin America, simple extinguition of all native nations.

  • Does anybody know how I can find one to buy, in the black market? I wanna have my own black slave. Thanks ;)

  • It's so sad we can't buy Africans anymore :(

If it were legal, I'd have at least 10!!!

  • @LucasEllerNewYork fuckin idiot

  • @myautomobilefunk

Your mother is a fucking idiot: she fucked the wrong day with your dad and you were born!

  • @LucasEllerNewYork that's all you got? fuckin kkk .

  • @LucasEllerNewYork ahahaha slavery always existed since from ancient egypt summerians romans.....now slavery still exists but the difference is that today the people slaves themselfs to survive.

  • Why are you discussing race and nationality issues?Nonsense. This is only history. I´m Portuguese, this is part of our History program at school and surely I´m not proud of what my ancestors did in the past, but unfortunately that was what happened and nowadays I can´t change it. Instead of criticizing, we should learn something with this and I mean everyone, not just me.By the way, it´s an excelent documentary because it gives us a very realistic point of view on this particular subject. kisses

  • Fuck Europeans

  • Like seriously HOW THE F&CK do you go to a country, where PEOPLE LIVE, and SECTION IT OFF FOR YOU AND YOUR CRONIES, adn then decide to make the people there slaves then say, lets go steal more people and force them to work for us, and take all the wealth for land that WAS NOT YOURS IN THE FIRST PLACE. I dont care about wars in Africa, I dont care about wars between the native people of the land. ONLY SOCIOPATHS believe they are right in doing this. Chacha rots in hell too he is not safe.

  • @dezinediva Yeah yeah Get over it.

  • The biggest brazilian slave trader was a guy called Chacha...who was a black man. No other trader was as rich as him. Other blacks in Brazil owned slaves, even in the quilombos. They make it sound like blacks and indians were noble savages when in reality there was war going on in Africa and South America before the Europeans got there.

  • Portugal was the 1º country in the world to end slavery...

  • @leonelalmeida1989

And certainly the first to start it too...

  • That is not the real name of the documentary.

  • so basicly these snakes are saying that the portuguese people are evil and that we are greedy and back stabbers? i wonder why these never aired in portugal, fuckers... i know my country and dont worry we dont go around slaving and rapping people... sometimes its quite the contrary...

  • @virtualsnake1994 994 lol You know what I found hypocritical? Englishmen talking about how awful the Portuguese were!! Let see if the same narrators will speak about the atrocities that England spread throughout the world!! ask them what they did to the Irish, Brits make me fuckin' puke! And now I know why the Irish hate them!! anglo arrogant ugly fucks!

  • @GundisalusMenendiz im sure they did the same things when they discovered their colonies...

  • @virtualsnake1994 They did way worse!! There's more to the story, how can just a couple of people keep down thousands or millions???? As in the beginning of the program they said; Our population was low we didn't have enough people to run a new colony!!! How do you start a colony with no masters and whole shit load of slaves??? It wasn't because we were being backed up was it??? who was our biggest client?? fucking hypocrites!!!

  • @virtualsnake1994 OHHH!!! and why do you think they abolished slavery??? So they could get the whole monopoly on the sugar trade!!!! right after they abolished slavery, they went straight to INDIA and enslaved them ONLY 6 years later!!!

  • @GundisalusMenendiz Also what they did to the Boers in South Africa.

  • @jmsnooks lol how about the "coolies" after the arrogant bastards abolished slavery in 1830???? ask them what they did to Egypt, South Africa, India, Middle East, THE WORLD!!! these narrators should know all black Americans have what??? English names!! and African MOTHERS!!!

Where ARE??? our Native Americans compared to South Americas native population???? ask them what they did for SUGAR!!! bunch of fucking hypocrites!!

  • @GundisalusMenendiz To be honest I don't have a lot of sympathy for the Middle East under European colonialism. The fact is they were trying to kill us and wipe out our civilization for hundreds of years prior to that. They destroyed Constantinople which was an irreplacable cultural treasure trove for us. Also, most of them were better off under our rule than by their own leaders. But getting back to English colonialism, it had it's ups and downs. Still, I agree with you that they have no..

  • @jmsnooks ...room to talk. The only European colonial power that took it easy on people were the Dutch.

  • @ Snooks Let me share with you something that's not known, did you know Britain before they opened the doors to the Zionists in Israel, they offered them Portugal! what a bunch of great friends! huh? They offered Portugal to the Zionists! This is how arrogant they got!! They just used people as pawns, and this ideology still lives today in the USA, Israel, and all those Anglo Zionist countries! I wonder why they would do that to the oldest alliance in the world?? They know something we don't!

  • @GundisalusMenendiz That is something I never heard before. I can't understand why they would do that. That just makes absolutely no sense. It doesn't sound like something the Doctor would approve of. Portugal is actually a real country, and it's not the Jewish homeland. But just for the record, I do support Israel and the right of the Jewish people to have their own country.

  • @snooks I'm not sayin' Jewish people shouldn't have a home, but... it's a proven fact that today's "Jewish" people are all eastern European descent, 99% Ashkenazis have no ties to Israel except for their beliefs. That's like sayin' all Catholics invade Rome because that's where all Catholics come from! when in fact it's not true! Hebrew means wanderer, Hebrews never had a home that's why they were called Hebrews and "not" Jewish.

  • @GundisalusMenendiz I'll send you a note.

  • @jmsnooks French writer said; Even though these people are the smallest of all the globe, it seems the globe is not large enough to satisfy them as soon as they set sail along the coasts they take possession of it and consider it a conquest/colony! end quote; remind you of someone???

  • @GundisalusMenendiz Haha, yes it does.

  • @GundisalusMenendiz A lot of the propaganda that we are seeing from contemporary is motivated by political correctness and white guilt. What we need is for the right wing to start infiltrating academia, and then the historical documentaries will be more accurate and less laden with anti-western bias.

  • yeah they have, they just did dna tests on famous people and they can trace them to tribes in angola mozambique and guinea bissau, exemples: quincy jones, oprah etc

  • 90% blacks toay in the usa and brazil have dna from tribes from angola mozambique and guine bissau all portuguese colonys... im talking about oprah or eddie murphy and many others... one thing that happened long ago changed world forever

  • @ukusapillage Most Black Americans have West African ancestry. For the most part they have nothing to do with Angola or Mozambique.

  • @rosey312 And btw, I'm only posting on here because this vid is about my country's history. I don't go around watching docs on American history as I don't frankly care about it.

  • @rosey312 you're a liar and a retard.

  • @RafaelFernandeSantos Retarded? Stupid fuck you can't read. I was not trying to be confrontational with the person that I was talking to 2 (TWO!) Years ago until he acted like an ass like you. If I am so wrong please name me one Brazilian show or movie with blacks shown as middle or upper class? Other than the show that is the equal of the show "good times" I believe it is called "from my favela window" or some shit like that, there are no blacks on tv here except criminals or service roles.

  • @rosey312 I don't go to the movies and don't watch TV. I have no idea whether there have been Blacks portraying upper class people and I frankly don't care. I've got stuff more important to worry about, dumb fuck. And are you kidding me? Is that how your African brain gauges racism? Americans are really dumb, aren't they? And are you sure you live in Brazil? Please let me see your Portuguese just so I can be sure I'm not talking to just another troll.

  • @RafaelFernandeSantos Thanks for assuming that I am African. You know what they say about assum right? It will make and ass out of you. In fact, when I wrote then, I said that there had been more Irish slaves in Brazil than Africans that the doc glossed over. Something that most slave histories gloss over. You have important stuff to do like read HUNDREDS of comments, lol! Troll? you went through HUNDREDS of comments and you want to know if I am a troll? Filho da puta estúpida

  • @RafaelFernandeSantos BTW If Americans are so dumb, why did you take the time to learn to write in American style or come to and English site? Something about us must facinate you, you wannabe American but are not,so you need to be insulting, Puta.

  • @RafaelFernandeSantos See I am not pulling shit out of my ass, I know of what I speak first hand. I love brazil, because on a person to person level, dicks like you are very rare. Most are very good people that don't care about race. The media does, and that was what I was addressing. When I have seen racial issues, it is normally poor whites with a tiny bit of power or folks that are one generation into the country, that think they have more right to it than the folks here for a millennium.

  • @rosey312 Yes, you're pulling things out of your ass. I've yet to see a single factual statement from your foul posts. Irish slaves in here? How ludicrous. You're clearly a troll, and a deranged one at that. And yes, there are many things in America that I like. Some writers, journalists, bloggers, bands. That's why I (according to you) can write like an American: because I have contact with part of your culture. Now, the average American is pretty much like yourself: a self-entitled moron.

  • @RafaelFernandeSantos And if you do not know about the white slave, In all sincerity you are not alone. Even in the US we were taught that all white slaves were indentured. It was not true. When Britain tried to kill off the Irish in 2 separate war, millions of them were sent free to all the Americas. Google the subject. There were also Scots and to a lesser degree German and British "undesirables" that were not indentured slaves, as many like to believe.

  • @RafaelFernandeSantos Further on the subject, Whites were sometimes classified and Mulatto or more dilute and the records would never show their race. And if the white woman was enslaved, even as indentured her children could be enslaved for life if her husband was black, free or not. There is a famous case of a 4 y/o German girl whose parents died and the ships captain sold her as a slave and told her she was black, blond hair and all.

  • @rosey312

    a

  • @bryansouza Not even Cariocas do that. People in Brazil work harder and longer than do the welfare-pampered Europeans who constantly pat themselves on the back on how hardworking they are compared to Third Worlders.

  • that's why they are good at football...it's because of the black players that play for them with african descent

  • @bluboroughman Duh... Except for Brazil, all other soccer powers are White. France, England, Spain, Argentina, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands...

  • Don't you just love how they stereotyped Brazil as a country where the only clothing women have are bikinis.

  • @Cecixx19 Which shows the sensationalism behind such docs.

  • portugal was the first country top abolish slavery on the planet, first to abolish slavery for chinese or indians, chinese slavery was proihibited in 1567, chinese were seen as equals

  • @ukusapillage They were no seen as equals. There not such thing in Modern Period! No one was equal.

  • @ukusapillage

    Dnt u feel proud

  • Comment removed

  • @ukusapillage You forgot to mention that by 1567, the Portoguese had already enslaved the native population and by 1600 they had introduced captured Africans to do forced labour.

  • people nowdays take the world and geography as a fact but try imagine the past, a wild world, with almost 0 civilization all unkown everything was unkwon for europe animals trees people culture costumes, europe poor as hell, the world rich as hell, in those days if you went into sea it was like going into space if you got lost you would die

  • what about the slavery going on today in Brazil, and you should blame white Brasialns not just the Portugues

  • fuck, why that idiots americans only show Salvador, and they think we only dance all day, fuck u, we have São Paulo biggest economic polo of latin america , and ny

    we

  • Peace and Love!

  • I am Brazilian, and this documentary is 100% reliable.

  • if there were arabs when portugal started theres no record since they lived with jews in small judeirias or corners and theres no one with arab last names, in most ancient records theres many jewish last names but no arabs, probably theres mixture from arabs that were slaves in lisbon, or blacks that were slaves, in a pop ith just 1 million that has huge impact over time thats why its so dangerous for small pop to accept massive african immigration like we have today

  • the gold we made was to built the north you fuck, if europe rules and american rules is because of us we took europe out of the dark ages, theres lot portuguese who are white and others who are dark skined descendents of jews mostly, there are no ancient names with arab last names not even in 14 century, they were jews, sephardic jews, and gypsies dont mix with non gypsys, unfortunally we could not expell non whites because portugal had only 1 million ppl until 19 century, even so we expelled

  • Comment removed

  • did anyone read the top comments? your arguments are pointless blaming and accusing someone based on their ancestors actions. stupid fuckers.

  • and you single handedly managed to wipe out over 4 millions of native indians.

  • @MarechaldeCampo lol! but Brazil is a young country and the portuguese continued to enslave black people until the late 19th century when most of europe had already outlawed it.which brings me back to what I asked last month.Clearly you guys owned 5 times more slaves and got most of the gold and huge pieces of land. what on earth have you spent your money on.Portugual will need about 90 billions from the EU to save its economy. This has got to be looked into.History repeat itself.

  • Brazilian Slavery An Inconvenient Portuguese History

how about the inconvenient history of the english, dutch, spanish, french or arabs slavery?

  • @Musashi850 you can add sweden and Norway they too had their share of slaves. they just started "opening" up about it. But I am much more interested in Portugual because they owned 70% of the slaves and about the double of that number perished in seas. Portugal has an awful lot to answer for.

  • @cannoir forget the past, the nations i mentioned also have a lot to answer no?

about the portuguese are basically arabs on steroids! just look at your french president to see who looks more arab! by the way the arabs almost took over france ehehe

research illuminati also ( present day slavery ) wish your france as 1 of the big sayings in that cult!

  • I just think that when people see this, its very easy to place the blame onto the portuguese people, has its very easy for many portuguese people to feel ashamed by this. But we must not forget that ALL people of that time are now dead, and the portuguese people from now a days have nothing to do with what happen in the distant past. It would be the same as saying that all germans from now need to feel guilty for what happen during the 2nd World War. It's only information.

  • @silvericeitachi

You suggest that 'its all in the past' which is patent nonsense since the Brazil of today has been formed absolutely by this period. The descendents of Portuguese invaders and killers gleam all the benefits while the black and darker indigenous people proportionally contend with social difficulties. Only Western Europeans have such a rich history of large scale oppression in the modern world - the Portuguese are the very worst

  • @silvericeitachi

I have you great grievance with the Portuguese of today, I had a girlfriend from Portugal who was lovely. Its just that deep-down lm slightly distrustful as l wonder if your ancestors were capable of such sub-human behaviour, maybe you have an elevated propensity towards it also. Seeing how the former slaver traders are still rather racist - who knows what such people are capable of.

  • @loveofkemet I completly understand your point of view, I'm portuguese and I don't like the portuguese but for different reasons. None of those people that enslaved your people are alive today, maybe their descendents. Anyway, like someone onde said "Dont let the sadness of the past and the uncertainties of the future ruin the happiness of the present." My only point is, we can hold on to these old grudges and keep this rivalry, but I dont think nothing good will come out of it.

  • @silvericeitachi don't you know the christian saying " The sins of the fathers shall be visited upon the sons" ? why do you think the Jews are still talking about their holocaust and black brasilians are being asked to "forget" ? lol! we discuss opently about the armenian holocaust but when it comes to the afrobrasilian holocaust everyone insist " oh its the past , get over it" try telling this to a jew .

  • @cannoir No, I do not know the christian saying, I'm an atheist, I don't belive in any religious system or doctrine. It's funny that you mention that, cause isn't one of the teachings of religion to forgive? "...and forgive us our debts,as we also have forgiven our debtors." I insist that being reported to a past event is just one obstacle for progress. Brasil, Portugal, this hole planet was here before we were born, it will still be here when you and I are gone, so why fight over who ownes it?

  • @silvericeitachi Sounds like the decendant of a white elite Portuguese family. I assume you are not black brazilian. That maybe we it is easy for you to say.

  • @silvericeitachi Sounds like the decendant of a white elite Portuguese family. I assume you are not black brazilian. That is maybe why it is easy for you to say.

  • @CaniPaul1 are you black american? how about the slavery that still goes around today?

  • @CaniPaul1 Im not descendant of any elite! Thats very funny how you rotulate people "white elite, black blazilian"... and then we are the racists!... But nevermind, hey, you keep your ideology, being a black brazilian, and i keep mine, being a white elite or whatever you called me.

  • @loveofkemet the portuguese are basically arabs on steroids.

  • @cannoir sorry not just the arabs but africans too! they say in 20 years france is a Muslim country wow :p

  • @Musashi850 about 30% who actually look arab in france are portuguese, portuguese look very much like a cross between gypsies and arabs. This country will forever be judeo christian like it or not. Now meanwhile france has has to sghell out a few billions to save the portuguese and you guys have some nerve to insult us. what have done with the money you made off slavery ? where is that gold you stole from those nations you colonised.where the hell is it.

  • @cannoir looooooooool about 30% who actually look arab in france are portuguese, portuguese look very much like a cross between gypsies and arabs!! yeah your president is portuguese too no?

research history and the reality of your country then you have the right to debate with me!

and to save Portugal with a few billions? i can only say fuck the Euro cause that is illuminati france/germany ideas ( new slavery ) euro will collapse and the billions you can clean your arse with it!

  • @Musashi850 first he is jew , have you seen his 2 blond sons ? next yeah Portugual is next in line for a bailing package.Unless you live a sheltered life or you watch Brasilian telenovas. The economic crisis in portugal means the country could well be sold for cheap to the chinese.Yes the Chi wanted to buy off Greek's debt and I trust they could buy off Portugals' with a few coins. That money doesn't come from thin air, all sorts of taxes have increased to pool those financial ressources.

  • @cannoir first fuck jews the jews are the worst of all religions, anyway your president he looks an arabe on fire, there are many many blond blue green eyes etc in Portugal too. yep Portugal,Greece,Irland are fucked and now Spain and Italy might go the same way thanks to the fucking euro

  • @cannoir not fuck jews, the real jews are ok, your president in a zionist ( nothing to do with jews ) research zionism, new world order, illuminati then you might understant whats going on! alex jones or david icke is a good start to look at!

  • @cannoir watch?v=kg_OBsOhzWY

get ready to point your ass to the moon on fridays soon ahaha

  • @loveofkemet Yeah. The Portuguese were partly responsible for the slave trade. Who cares? It was the past. I think its pathetic that people like you complain over it.

  • Brazilian regions where portuguese people settled are the poorest in Brazil. Othewise, regions like the south of Brazil and Sao Paolo, where ITALIANS were the settlers are very rich and pretty industrialized. So, Italians RULE.

  • @MatheusStradivari That's not the reason why the south of Brazil is more developed than the North or the Northeast.

  • @MatheusStradivari ITALIANS LOOOOL YOU ARE FUNNY WELL GO BACK TO MILAN KMFT

Portugal was the first West Empire to abolish slavery in the European territory and India (1761) and the 2º in its all Empire, after United Kingdom(among Western Empires) in 1854. And the first(Portugal and Britain) to abolished the commerce of Human beings.

  • Correction: Portugal was the 3º or 4º (among them) to abolish in all Empire: African colonies etc.

In all Empire, African colonies etc. - The years for Portuguese Laws are: 1834 (End of Transatlantic Slave trade) 1854(total Abolition) Processe Complete(1869).

    The Dutch Suriname? (was later?)

Netherlands: in 1814(End of Slave trade) 1819 - the Dutch made a treaty with U.K. to abolish slave trade. (total abolition?)

France abolish slavery in 1848 in its colonies.

  • Don't know about Brasil, but in Portugal all the stories told on this documentary are rather well known, some, if not all, are taught in normal school curricula - so this is main stream. Now that I think about it, there are also Brazilian soap operas that threat this issue describing more or less what we learn on this video (specially about the slave owners abuses). Also there are also scores of books written by Brazilian and Portuguese authors about this issue.

  • I'm part Portuguese!

  • Damm all those spaniards and portuguese people are in hell now ,no offense to them now though

  • Fuk Portuguese...the original devils. They traded in human lives for money. They're no different than the worst scums of the Earth. God will judged your country to hell.

  • @Microglia1 Mi amigo, learn how to spell " Fuck" before you insult a whole nation.... there is not a single portuguese who enslaved people alive... so swallow your hate and ask God for forgiveness for what you have just done, sentencing innocent people.

  • because of Dutch possession of the territory and several attack of English and French pirates, portugal decided to MOVE to Brazil. Napoleon attacked Portugal and they RAN AWAY of the war going to Brazil(king and family, rich people,artist...).The original Brazilian were NOT able to work then were brought black people from Africa. They Portugal set the slaves FREE and later on Portuguese married black people and some Indian(indigenous) mixing the races

Later mix Europeans, arabe and Jews to them.

  • Comment removed

  • "North America" being the United States of America, the former British colony. I can imagine that the history and legacy of the Africans in Brazil is something that will never go away, or might never be fully resolved...

  • The difference between the English and the Portuguese was the English paid more for their slaves and so didn't kill them as readily they were some what late to the party. The Portuguese owners also didn't bring their own families and so had more unchecked aggression. They copulated with their slaves more as well as working them till death. a new slave cost less than feeding the now dead one..

  • so thats why theres so many blacks in brazil their slave ancestors.

Portugal educava as pessoas e expandia a nossa religião.

Além disso Portugal foi o 2 país no mundo a ir contra a escravidão.

    Ignorância gera ignorância.

  • @SirIgorHatake Justamente.

  • @SirIgorHatake Bueno, y yo no hablo portugués.

  • @SirIgorHatake I live in Chile. Once I went to Spain and I hear a remarkable similar speech. European don't seem to realize the damage they've caused to the Americans. All of your today wealth comes from the pillage and exploitation of the New World. The "truth" religion and education was forced upon kind natives thanks to the lash and brutality, because nobody believe in that crap anymore. It's well know that Incas and Mayans had by far more knowledge.

  • @ebombin78 Both Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs were very advanced people. They were killed by the swords and guns, but most died from germs brought about by the dirty Portuguese and Spaniards. I hope Brazilians realize this and make teaching of the horrors committed by bastard Portuguese in all the schools.

  • @Microglia1 We don't need to be lectured about colonization and slave trade that took placed in our own country by a moron like you. Why do you assume know no one knows this shit around here?

  • @SirIgorHatake

  • Clearly you portuguese guys have no clue about what happened there.

The history that had been told to you is completely far from the reality just because it is convenient.

You don't have to be ashamed of your past because it is not your fault, but know the true is important, it will make you understand the reason of many things.

  • @ivandame Em Português por favor.

  • @SirIgorHatake e o Brasil foi o ultimo a abolir. Portugal eh bem conhecido para escrever " lei pra ingles ver".

  • @SirIgorHatake

Racistas ayer, hoy y manana

  • @loveofkemet Fala Português.

  • Good historical information. Thanks for posting it.

There are many who would rather see such knowledge buried forever.

  • OMG! Brazil is such a *diverse country both geographically and Racially :O there's so much mystery, I'm really fascinated about this country :P so much so that i've even started *reading, which is something i never did before :) ooohh Brazil gives me goose bumps <3

  • @afrolatinadamien search for >>(why evangelists and khazars hate this video? part 1 khazars)<< here on youtube and hear white jewish people saying the truth that the true israelites are black people. and that all white and ashkenazi jews are not the real jews after they converted into judaism their descendants started claiming to be the real jews to this day. in luke21:20-24 JESUS said that before he returns the israelites will be carried away as captives into all nations for slavery = blacks

  • 1onyx This comment on Portuguese is harsh and undeserved. Slavery was a war consequence applied all over the world. The winning country or tribe was always taking the loosing tribe or country has slaves (or killing them all), no matter what color they were, ethnic or country. In many wars against Spanish we took as well Spanish as slaves and we were also made slaves. Ofc this is not correct but in fact slavery happened with all races.

  • @PortugueseRedMoon Yes slavery happened and happens everywhere but was there a war between Portugal and Africa? If so, did it go on for hundreds of years? AND we are not talking about 50 people here from a different tribe, a few hundred there from Spain, we are talking about over 4 million people. Selling and slaving these people was the most money-making business that made Portugal the most powerful country of its time.

  • @Jovitinha , there were wars between Portugal and some African tribes, which has a result made the Portuguese African colonies. Back then everything that was on those won territorys was considered matherial to be traded. This in Africa, India, Brazil or elsewhere. And ofc this was wrong, but its over long ago. What I mean with my comment is that I desagree with all kind of discrimination, but I also dont like to be victim of discrimination. And this video shows only 1 small part of it all.

  • Verdade, mas parcial. Uma versão, mas histórica.

Os portugueses inventaram a miscigenação. Seu legado é bom, também. Adoro o livro "o povo brasileiro" do grande "Darcy Ribeiro".

  • This is ridiculous. They make it seem like Portugal is the only country who did this. Btw, how the hell did they manage to find out that there were 4 million natives ..

  • @SwooshParker This documentary is about Brasil so yes, they would be talking about Portugal only and the Portuguese were the biggest slave traders of all time. They know there were over 4 million Africans shipped to Brasil because meticulous records of how many ships were sailed, how many people were in it, man or women, were kept. The British kept very good records too.

  • @Jovitinha Yes they were because of the strength of their empire, the other European powers tried but Portugal had the monopoly so don't make it seem like they are terrible people because all major nations did it, they just did it better..

  • @SwooshParker Yes. They did it better. They excelled in capturing and selling over 4 million human beings. And please, don't make it sound like a business transaction, there was much despicable cruelty and ill-treatment. I am not making anyone look bad and I do not believe slavery should be a collective guilt for all the Portugese people of that era. What I want to see is not people apologizing, but acknowledging what happened and not telling themselves everybody did it oh well.

  • @Jovitinha It was a business transaction. It wasn't a clean one or a considerate one but Portugal wanted the money and nobody opposed them or told them to stop so they went for it. Understandable, but I am not trying to say 'oh well' but rather saying that it's the 21st century not the Age of Discovery. You have to live in their shoes and see the times they lived in. And let's not pretend if you were a rich person back in those times that you would've stood up for the slaves.
