Hi, thanks for the video. I had my claws replaced on my princess cut solitaire. Its been 2 months since I had it done, there appears to be feathered stress marks at the corner of one of the claws. Could this be due to too much heat that was applied. I am in the works of dealing with my insurance company. Thanks. The jeweler is saying he is not responsible because i walked out of his store with no marks on my diamond.
Hi it varies what temperature they can take depending on size and quality of diamond, a couple of tricks help protect it. . Keep the flame moving, holding the flame on the diamond will damage it quicker
2 . Coating in borax first helps to keep the temperature down briefly.
Above all you have to be very quick to solder claws on diamond rings without removing the stones first. Practice with cubic zirconia, if you can solder on czs you should be able to solder on diamonds after lots of practice.
Yes I can... its just simple borax... it gives you a few extra seconds to get the solder running protecting the diamond.. this is a very experienced level of soldering that takes years of practice and is not for the faint hearted..!

You can see the solder getting soldered on to the wire before just before it is joined to the ring...
