Almah means "maiden", which generally means virgin. I'm pretty sure Isaiah wasn't saying: "Behold, the woman who has been around the block a few times will bear a child". It's not unreasonable to say that virginity is inferred

And the statement has no purpose viewed otherwise, if she wasn't a virgin. "A woman will bear a child". As opposed to what? A stork? All children are born of women. It would be the equivalent of going out of your way to mention: "The child will have two arms."
