before ww2 America was an isolationist country. The only major interactions we had with countries outside of Americas was during ww1. My Uncle Frank was one of these guys. He's not in the movie by name because he decided to stay at his job and thereby keep his retirement. He didn't think this thing would be as big as it is and endure as long as it has. The guys wanted him remembered, so things he did are shown in the movie, but mostly without expository action as to how they happened...

Second of all, America demonstrated the tendency to join the war when the course of the war had already been decided (both WW1 and WW2). On the Eastern Front, the course of the war was determined at Stalingrad. So whether America joined the war or not would not have made a difference. By joining the war, America helped to end the war sooner. So don't take the credit here for the victory. It's hilarious.

American intervention was helpful, yes, but opportunistic. Post-war tensions between Stalin and America existed because Stalin felt that America had intentionally held back until they were sure they could win outright. The U.S. could have saved a lot of civilian lives if they hadn't been such pussies.

This was a truly moving and amazing dramatization and the summing up by the survivors should make us all pause for thought and consider what we owe to them and those like them that did not return. We owe our future to them.

My Uncle Frank was one of these guys. He's not in the movie by name because he decided to stay at his job and thereby keep his retirement. He didn't think this thing would be as big as it is and endure as long as it has. The guys wanted him remembered, so things he did are shown in the movie, but mostly without expository action as to how they happened...

I met him for the very first time in early May when he came through my mom and dad's home on his way back home after the winter in Florida. What a guy! The stories he told are beyond anything you can imagine. I am proud to be of his blood and never forget what he and his brethren did for all of us...

All you people arguing about who did this or that...all three major powers were decisive in victory. Without either Britain, which held out alone for a year, the United States, which supplied the industrial production, or the Soviet Union, which bore the brunt of the fighting, the Nazis would have won. And as one historian said, (approximately): "Every single person who fought or contributed to the war in any way, at home and abroad, was a part of the victory." And who could argue with that?

@wiseguy1010... the US, practically single handedly, destroyed the mighty Japanese military machine; whom Russia declared war against only in 1945 when their fighting with the Germans was over..funny how you seem to completely ignore that in the "war" you talk about..Germany knew once the industrial might of the US got involved they were in for it, they easily could've held off the Brits in the West and pushed further into Russia

@AlphaStrikeSquadron First of all, it's USSR, not Russia. Big difference. Second of all, America demonstrated the tendency to join the war when the course of the war had already been decided (both WW1 and WW2). On the Eastern Front, the course of the war was determined at Stalingrad. So whether America joined the war or not would not have made a difference. By joining the war, America helped to end the war sooner. So don't take the credit here for the victory. It's hilarious.

@AlphaStrikeSquadron Yes, Russia did endure the worst of the war by a wide margin, enduring just under 30 million casualties. They also captured Berlin and ended the War in Europe. American intervention was helpful, yes, but opportunistic. Post-war tensions between Stalin and America existed because Stalin felt that America had intentionally held back until they were sure they could win outright. The U.S. could have saved a lot of civilian lives if they hadn't been such pussies.

It's a shame to see present-day idiots like you disrespecting both American and Russian sacrifice...although primarily Russian, because like I said before they lost roughly 90 times more people than the U.S.

65 years after the war... having been born 25 years after it ended - I say "thank you" to all of these men, to all who fought and survived, and especially to all those who lost their lives. If not for you, my two boys would not have the life they have today. God bless you all.

This was a truly moving and amazing dramatization and the summing up by the survivors should make us all pause for thought and consider what we owe to them and those like them that did not return. We owe our future to them.
