If you don't get the joke: the numbers 1-10 on the volume dial on the amp are not a real measurement of the amp's volume. What really determines the amp's volume is the wattage. A small amp with 30 watts will not be nearly as loud as a large amp with 300. Yet all amp dials are marked 1-10. You could have a small 30 watt amp that someone strangely had marked 1-11 set to 11, yet the 300-watt amp would be much louder set at 5. Louder = more watts, not an extra number on the dial.

My amp goes to eleven! I love it! I had to count the dots on the EQ numerous times, I finally got it drilled in my head it goes to elven and five is on below 12 o' clock.

I don't understand how the 11 thing is funny. If it goes to eleven, that's a logical answer right? It is one louder. I know, i'm like one of those idiots you get into these conversations with, but please explain.

@fox84M Ha ha, no problem :) The joke here is that Spinal Tap made their speakers go to 11 so that it can be louder. The guy interviewing them is saying, "If you want it louder, why don't you keep the 1-10 scale and just make the volume itself louder?" Think of it this way: a man has a white shirt, but it gets dirty. He puts another white shirt over it, saying, "This is clean." A friend says, "Why don't you keep the old shirt and just clean it?" The guy says, "Uh...this is clean."

i guess i thought the 1-11 dial was the volume itself, so it was kind of confusing. I think some of these bands have custom made equipment for themselves and stuff like that though, so they probably do have amps that go to 11. My marshal is small and shitty and barely has any adjusments on it.
