Tolkien forever!!! He inspired this generation of poets and bards, and he will be for centuries.
"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door; you step on the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."
There has been no one like Tolkien since Homer or the Vedic poets. Tolkien went to the edge of human perception to record another world (nope, he didn't make it up. He said he was "Given things…already there, somewhere").
Even pople who have a absolutelly common way of life are amazed by the magic and beauty of the characters of a book (and movie) such as Lord of the Rings. You cant deny it..thats something in all that magic and light, beauty and virtues that call us...as we feel that something is missed on us...as if we lost some kind of magic..
My god...they really have captured the spirit of Tolkien. Actually, one day, I want to create a thirteen part TV series based on the book. And if they're still around in the future, I really would like them on such a project.
Yes and no - he created several languages, the two most prominent being Grey and High Elven. "Taking gaelic and finnish" would be incorrect, as he first used their pronounciation rules and grammatical structure, but then elaborated that in an "Anglo-Saxon manner".
So yes, Tolkien did create his own languages but no, he did not come up with them from nothing.
My gosh, what a beautiful voice!

@mujaku Robert Jordan was a genius too, though i am not saying he is as good as Tolkien, just that i love both of their works.
