I'd be surprised if Chris Cornell was feeling this but the other members this is their roots. Chris Cornell and Tom Morrello are both slacking when it compares to Eddie Hazel (he sings and plays guitar on the funkedelic version)
The singing was Cornell; Too grungy. Then The Keyboard part with only guitar sounded slow and awkward. the song overall was pretty slow and awkward. Lol.
I hate it when people get so insulted that a band would cover one of their favorite songs; imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and a cover is an imitation. Take it as a compliment or an insult, just don't bash other people when they like a different version than you.
Personally, I love both versions. I had no idea who Funkadelic were before I heard Audioslave's cover, and guess what? I'm a Funkadelic fan now. I'm sure other people have similar stories.
This just shows you the genius of Eddie Hazel. This group F'd up this jam....Funkadelic has had some much influence on music..... The song loses alot of it's groove when this group plays it... But it's all good man... just raises Funkadelic even higher.... Eddie had that unique way of talking with his guitar... beautiful...
