The H.E.S.T. folder is a an overhyped piece of shit for gear queers. It is a small knife in the hand, that doesnt do ANYTHING that any other little folder does. @Grubkat Definitely and they are continually trying to fix them as they go, and I understand that its their first knife as a company so its to be expected. Much like how people wait out the new model car in their first year, and buy the subsequent year models that have some new additions/kinks worked out.
@takenomorimonster Hey mate how are you? Is everything ok on your end?I haven't had much energy due to my disease to check around too much, and forgot to ask if you were ok after the devastation that occurred in Japan. Anywho, I have not, The limited ed. is at lionsteel getting the tip fixed [since it was raised above the handle] and got a replacement production version from DPX for the rust and such. So I haven't done much I have used the hest fixed a lot though and it works great its just
@takenomorimonster -cont -- it is two diff steels [d2 tool steel vs 1095, etc] but I have used the fixed blade against wood baton etc and has worked great, however since it was hand sharpened the edge grinds on both sides aren't the same and is not close enough to the 30 or 40 on the sharpmaker so I kind of botched the edge atm, and its not really correctly sharp [meaning its sharp and can be stabbed/slashed etc, but since its uneven it work in utility fashion]. I know it doesnt give info on
@takenomorimonster -cont 2 on the folder, but since its vaguely similar figured it would be better info then nothing. I have heard accounts on the forums of people doing wood cutting, carboard, plastic, batoning etc with the hest folder though some flawlessly, some people seemed to have mixed feelings. But irregardless its a great knife for the price, you get a lot of stuff, and if the minor flaws in the beginning weren't there it would have killed a lot of high priced knives. And it cuts
@takenomorimonster -cont3 cuts very nicely for such a thick stock blade, I mean its nearly 5mm thick, [when doing the math] its pretty much as thick as the esee 4 fixed blade.
Hi Jeff! Two questions. Who is the singer or band at the beginning of the video.....and do you know why dpx would use teflon washers over copper-bronze or brass. Slipperyness?
@tribunation Its an eminem song, I think its I need a doctor. Teflon washers can tend to be smoother than bronze washers without the need for oil, and provide some elasticity for it to work well with leaving little room / having tight tolerances. It is seen though that bronze washers can be thougher [albeit teflon can be chemically tougher, but not in terms of mechanical toughness], and the feel and smoothness is up in the air when you add oil to bronze washers. But its not a big deal since
@tribunation Oh and I have read that rik hinderer also uses teflon washers too. I think both types have their great own properties, but it boils down to the users preference and the makers preference. Albeit in this age, spyderco has a huge rule over knives, and they use bronze phos. so that has inadvertently become the gold standard.
@MyChaos71 still struggling with whether or not to do so. I mean I sold off a good 1/2 ish of my collection to pay for these [paid ahead of time when I was still somewhat working]. So it would be cool to get some money back, its a great for all the little things it does, and I guess this price range, its a small niche of similar knives that do the same, but at the same time a lot of little things kick at my conscious lol. so I am a struggling a bit with it.
Nice reveiw once again Jeff, but dam there are some issues with them i just dont like, blade almost sticking out when closed and RUST wtf on a brand new blade?? wow, anyway cheers brother, hpe all is good with u, stay strong and stay safe.
@TheDishD Thanks mate, One day I will get a better camera, at least, a good medium for YT uses only [since if I was to get another camera it would be for photography uses so thats way into the future]. But ya for these prices, well the rust thing shouldn't come in any new knife really, so that was a bit of a downer, as you may understand my enthusiasm during the video lol, and just a lot of little things that happen here and there. [the rust was a bit deeper, and spread a little to the side-cont
@TheDishD -cont- to the side where you saw - so the flat side of the blade- , and had to use my last bit of flitz, since neverdull was too weak for this and didn't take it off. Ya the blade does stick out on the LE version but its covered if you want to send it in and paid for shipping, at least I heard. But what they do is just grind down a part of the tang that hits the stop pin so it rides lower. but both my blades are quite close to the edge of the spine when closed which is a bit -cont3
@TheDishD -cont3- which was a bit worrysome, especially since its the first time I have seen this on any of my folding knives. So I am not sure if its normal or not, there was a supposed few people who used a prototype for months and didn't feel the need to change anything so I guess its not really a problem. And also DC57 also pointed this out, that the blade is actually quite short. All the hype etc, I think made me think it would look bigger. But its just 3.1 in. with a long handle.
@jeffjuice3886 G'day Jeff, thank u for the replies! brother i would be stoked with any style of lanyard that u decide to make, but yes i like "different" style lanyards, so liets say the "spiral" one? but as i say man anything will be awesome. As to colour my dear freind, i realy do like the ACU cammo ones as i cant get hold of that here but again i leave that up to u as u have a talant for choosing great colours! all the best my brother take care
@TheDishD PS. if I made a lanyard, one is kind of unique I thought of, so Ima send one with the rest. Although I think it may be too odd but who knows. Another one, a box or do you want one that is like a box but swirls? Um, I guess a metaphor would be a box = building with elevators, the other kind would be a building with a spiraling staircase. so spiral or box, and colors? [im gonna make the loop long just so if you use a bead you can add a knot etc]
Well, it looks cool anyway. They don't fall short, I'd say, but they do stumble a bit in some relatively minor details as you've mentioned. I still wouldn't mind having one. Not that I'm in the market for it. Maybe down the road.
@elongatuspiranha ohh ok. yea me neither but I think thats why they go through that process of putting layers of epoxy and anodization. But with various heats they can bring out some cool colors. But its a bit too "fancy" or a bit too "artistic" for my tastes too, but really cool just in a science view, but some customs do look really good with it. I had been thinking the cash Im gonna put into the seb 21 with custom handles + possibly thumbstuds, its custom price range lol
I've been out of YT for a while. I'll make an account update soon. Nice to see you finally getting both the LE and Pro. Nice collection of Hest. ;) LOL on the wrong promo.
@elongatuspiranha What wrong promo o.o. And well I found ya on the USN so I figured as much lol. Man I told ya about the LS CF back in like nov and your gonna beat me to it lol. oh well. You should check out the superconductor bolsters, not great if your near electricty [although they do take steps to epoxy+anodize finish it so its less likely], but its amazing [ti+ni+cu components], its expensive though since it was originally a government funded project to get a material to have less -cont
@elongatuspiranha -cont less electric resistance, which that combo of chemicals does. Hence superconductor, but the project was scrapped, and one guy mainly [although some other companies do sell it Im assuming from him] sells it to various people.
Looks fantastic but yeah, those problems are kinda unacceptable especially the rust. Love the color of the G10! Thanks for lettin us know about this one, buddy.
@Lucentdawn Yea I found the rust was harder to get off, neverdull didn't work, so I had to use the last bits of my flitz on it with some elbow grease [it migrated slightly to the flat side too which I noticed after]. So I got a small bite of lemon on that one. I wish the blade was longer, after hearing dc57 talking about it, it made me realize the blade does look quite small for the handle. And all that anticipation problem made me think it would be bigger.
@Lucentdawn oh and its probably nitpicking again, but the g10 side didn't totally line up with the ti liner. Yea its a small thing, but for the price, and how good lionsteel was supposed to be, I didn't expect that. Especially when you have other companies, get it pretty damn right [amazing ex is the backspacer on the sage 3, well sort of lol]. And ofc, had to give you guys the facts and whats going on. I mean, Im not gonna sugar coat anything, or with-hold info wouldn't be right
@brotherskeepers111 Thanks mate =] Still trying to decide whether to return the production one, and save some cash for a rainy day or another piece, or perhaps more range time :p Ill keep people posted, I don't think I have done a range or skeet vid. Although it would be harder with my health atm but we shall see :p
man i love the design of this knife much better as a folder then a fixed blade imho however the price is way too much imho specialy considering the complaints you mentioned and the problems with the first run it doesnt seem promising tbh
id love to get one inspite of all that however i doubt ill ever afford that for a blade considering i just had to sell some of the blades i bought myself for my bday :( still great reveiw and nice blade to look at and hope lol
@wolfbrother2501 Well, in a way for this steel perhaps it is too much [although d2 is a pretty good steel], but with an almost 5mm stock blade, skull tool, g10+Thick ti lock bar and rotoblock, and glass breaker I think its a pretty good price. Its unfortunate that it had to have so many little things, at least for me [later I realized the rust was deeper, had to use flitz, neverdull didn't cut it, and it was also a little on the side of the area I showed you], and that the g10+ti liner --cont
@wolfbrother2501 -cont- that the g10+ti liner did not line up smoothly. All things I would not expect from lionsteel, or as you stated for this price point. And I suppose they did not find the blade being precariously close to the spine when closed a big deal since a few supposedly used it for months for a test phase before shipping etc. All the little things make it a bummer, I mean if it was one big thing, you easily return it without remorse lol. After dc57 told me, I did notice also-cont3
@wolfbrother2501 -cont3- noticed that the blade does look quite small. Its 3.1", for that sized handle, and I guess the buzz and anticipation made me think it would have been longer. But ya, had to tell it like it is. Thats a bugger about having to sell the blades you bought, especially when it was for your bday [happy belated btw]. But never say never. I am out of work with health issues, and I am slowly saving up for a CRK 21 lrg in 10-12 mon [wait list/preorder time] so little by little :p
interesting looking knife, but by the looks of it Lionsteel has had a few problems with this particular knife. Happens to a lot of manufacturers from time to time.
If you do decide to keep it let us know how it actually works.
@victorinoxfan Yea its quite unfortunate, i suppose its a design issue, if its considered one, where the blades precariously close to the edge. But I suppose they didn't find it a problem, since it was supposedly being used as a prototype by a few, for months. The rust I figure is my own luck, not sure about the other problems though. But ya I would have thought Lionsteel would be much better, but i suppose not for this one.-cont
@victorinoxfan I did notice afterwards the g10 doesn't line up to the ti liner on the handle on mine either. and the rust was deeper/spread to the side more than i thought, had to use flitz [neverdull didn't do it], and some elbow grease. It is an interesting knife, wish it was longer than 3.1" though. With more Q+C and R+D I think it would have been an amazing knife, for 175 [and if the blade was longer :p]
Nice look at a blade that obviously has much buzz and great anticipation. I'm with cibolodave on the 2nd wave of production list @ knifeworks. With all of the problems they've experienced with this launch, I'm kind of glad I'm wasn't in on the first wave. Hopefully they iron out their problems, the rust on yours to me is unacceptable on a brand new knife. Especially at this price point.
@seti351 Yea I hope so too. And that rust was a lot, well maybe not "alot" but, it was a bit more damage than I thought. Neverdull didn't quite do it, so I had to use flitz, and found the black coating was off, and the rust migrated a little to the side also. But ya hopefully some of the problems will be fixed, I don't know if people consider the blade being dangerously close to the spine as a problem. If it is, then I don't think a second wave will fix it, since its design thing and they-cont
@seti351 -cont and they would need to make some design changes. The rust I am just gonna say that was a lemony fresh isolated deal perhaps. There are the other issues that I heard about but who knows. The one thing I will say was, it felt kind of weird to me,how much of a buzz and anticipation this knife had, that it made me think the blade was supposed to be bigger lol. When i got it and looked at the 3.1" blade, I could have sworn it was supposed to be bigger but it looks smaller than thought
@kingcamo123 -cont - is diff from what I hear when I play it on YT, so its a bit hard to totally make it right. Well I kind of get used to just checking the second timer, then stopping etc, at least by now you would hope I would have adapted lol. But sometimes I get caught up in saying something or carried away, I should say, and it stops. The camera doesn't really tell you except the sound it makes that its processing the clip it just took. And when it happens I lose my train of thought /place
@kingcamo123 Thanks mate, I know what you mean, it took a huge, at least 1/4-1/3 or more i forget now of my collection sales and such for these two. Yea it was eminem, I need a doctor =] lol yea sorry bout that, ive been fiddling with the sounds for awhile. If you can believe it, most of the time I need to put it like 3 clicks from mute out of I would assume like 15-25? never counted. And it depends on the bit rate etc. And the weird thing is, the sound I hear on my movie maker, is diff. -cont
@cibolodave lol sorry mate. In my defense, I did sell at the least 1/4-1/3 of my collection to purchase these two. Hopefully the second runs won't see some of these, although not sure if they will drastically change it over my petty concerns - minus the rust, I don't think any new knife should come with that]
@thomassmyth65 yea I think this knife could have been really great, kind of like a "cheaper" hinderer alternative, sorta, but definitely needs a bit more R+D and Q+C. Sorry for not including that slipped my mind, its not reversible unfortunately [so no reverse grip waves], but you can purchase a left hand version.
Damn dude, rust spots already? Man DPX is not getting off to the a right start with this knife. Just more problems... It's a shame. This is like my SOG Pentagon Elite when closed, you can touch the blade from the handle spine. Great info man, you always overwhelm me with information:) Thanks!
@darkchild57 ya and its on the side of that point too, which I noticed later, so its a deeper one than I thought [since its spreading], and I tried cleaning it with neverdull but only took like 50% off or so, so I am gonna try the last of my flitz next. Ya at least you understand re: the blade near the spine, its a bit of a precarious position especially if I hard grab for it in my pocket,*cough wave feature cough* lol. Sorry about the info :p I just dump whatever I research Ill have to fix that
Your trying to kill me here aren't you Jeff?? DAMN!!!!!! Those Hest folders are sexy and so is the Fixed blade ah.. :D!!!! Right now the fixed blade is out of stock at the store i usually shop at :(. Hopefully that changes!!! Damn it man, now i really want that fixed blade, all i do is look at it online!!! 5:00 = "Numb" by Linkin Park :D lol, just though i'd share what i heard there :D!!! Great overview Jeff, some minor stuff like the clip and the rust might bother someone, but overall I LOVE IT
@TheLazySpoiledKitty Hopefully its because of the change around to the hest 2? although I frequent DPX a lot and they seem to still be in the drawing phase for the hest 2, so it may be taking time due to the drop in collab between esee and dpx? who knows. lol Numb remix =], well all the songs were remixes less troublesome if you know what i mean =X. ya it was just a little disheartening to find after waiting so long and the costs [and you kind of expect higher quality from lionsteel --cont
@TheLazySpoiledKitty --cont-- whom produced the knives [as you know they are italian, and italian made goods that are pricey, are usually well built], but these I don't know they had a lot of little stuff going on but we shall see :p The rust was a little deeper than I first thought, I thought it was just some surface issue, some the q tip took off, I even rubbed it with the neverdull cotton infused stuff only took a little more off. So tomm. Im going to use my last bit of flitz and lb. it off
@TheLazySpoiledKitty Oh and if you are still looking at other fixed blades, new ones in the esee line up should be popping up. They are starting to have a few that can be bought in a stainless version. Like the esee 4 stainless, or you can get the 1095. Not sure if it will be so for their whole lineup though. [not sure what SS it is either]. 2011 has a lot of amazing stuff lol. Too bad I can't buy any more after the few I will show over time. Since I need to save for that seb in 10-12 months
@jeffjuice3886 P.S. If I, a non-working, disabled, with a pretty bad disease atm, getting a monthly government paycheck that used to be 4 hours of RN work a month. I think you can definitely get some of these knives :p. BUT I will admit, having a GF kind of knocks it out of balance. So I don't blame you lol
Blade is smooth as hell, only thing is that rust spot, for the price it should have came with no problems. besides that blade is smooth!!! great review also!!
@Rudemustang1 ya it is quite smooth, thanks =] ya I was a bit disheartened about the rust, but was hesitant because of how close the blade is to the back of the blade, I mean its not a problem when open, just a possibility when in the pocket, and say you hurry to grab it hard. So I am probably just whining at that point lol.
@tuffthumbz lol, and not sure about the lemon.... the LE blade tip being above the handle issue was widespread, a lot of the 250 people had that problem [although varying heights], the blade at the back spine I think is a general thing, probably a design thing, the rust I have not heard anyone else have yet, I have heard of the slippage of lock from a few, and one case of the clip breaking. So not as rare as a lemon, a little QC, and a little design problem mixed together I think.
@jeffjuice3886 Alot of problems in the first run. I am suprised, maybe they should have stuck by ESEE for this one? Im rethinking getting this now. The blade coming that close wile closed sound a bit unpleasant. Great review and im still jealous as hell
@tuffthumbz Yea seems to be that way, but irregardless, they were using lionsteel as the producers, and esee split this collab project with DPX 3 weeks before the supposed release [christmas week]. So no really one person/company to blame really. The rust thing does suck though i tried to take it off with some never dull, it seems to be deeper than I first thought, Ill have to squeeze the tiny bit of flitz I had left sometime later. lol and thanks :p

Especially when you have other companies, get it pretty damn right [amazing ex is the backspacer on the sage 3, well sort of lol]. And ofc, had to give you guys the facts and whats going on. I mean, Im not gonna sugar coat anything, or with-hold info wouldn't be right

Those are some sick little blades my friend
brotherskeepers111 1 year ago
@brotherskeepers111 Thanks mate =] Still trying to decide whether to return the production one, and save some cash for a rainy day or another piece, or perhaps more range time :p Ill keep people posted, I don't think I have done a range or skeet vid. Although it would be harder with my health atm but we shall see :p

Congrats on owning two beautiful HEST knives. It is nice to know the differences between the two.

@SNAFU111999 lol make that three!
SNAFU111999 1 year ago
man i love the design of this knife much better as a folder then a fixed blade imho however the price is way too much imho specialy considering the complaints you mentioned and the problems with the first run it doesnt seem promising tbh
id love to get one inspite of all that however i doubt ill ever afford that for a blade considering i just had to sell some of the blades i bought myself for my bday :( still great reveiw and nice blade to look at and hope lol
wolfbrother2501 1 year ago
@wolfbrother2501 Well, in a way for this steel perhaps it is too much [although d2 is a pretty good steel], but with an almost 5mm stock blade, skull tool, g10+Thick ti lock bar and rotoblock, and glass breaker I think its a pretty good price. Its unfortunate that it had to have so many little things, at least for me [later I realized the rust was deeper, had to use flitz, neverdull didn't cut it, and it was also a little on the side of the area I showed you], and that the g10+ti liner --cont
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@wolfbrother2501 -cont- that the g10+ti liner did not line up smoothly. All things I would not expect from lionsteel, or as you stated for this price point. And I suppose they did not find the blade being precariously close to the spine when closed a big deal since a few supposedly used it for months for a test phase before shipping etc. All the little things make it a bummer, I mean if it was one big thing, you easily return it without remorse lol. After dc57 told me, I did notice also-cont3
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@wolfbrother2501 -cont3- noticed that the blade does look quite small. Its 3.1", for that sized handle, and I guess the buzz and anticipation made me think it would have been longer. But ya, had to tell it like it is. Thats a bugger about having to sell the blades you bought, especially when it was for your bday [happy belated btw]. But never say never. I am out of work with health issues, and I am slowly saving up for a CRK 21 lrg in 10-12 mon [wait list/preorder time] so little by little :p
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
interesting looking knife, but by the looks of it Lionsteel has had a few problems with this particular knife. Happens to a lot of manufacturers from time to time.
If you do decide to keep it let us know how it actually works.
victorinoxfan 1 year ago
@victorinoxfan Yea its quite unfortunate, i suppose its a design issue, if its considered one, where the blades precariously close to the edge. But I suppose they didn't find it a problem, since it was supposedly being used as a prototype by a few, for months. The rust I figure is my own luck, not sure about the other problems though. But ya I would have thought Lionsteel would be much better, but i suppose not for this one.-cont
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@victorinoxfan I did notice afterwards the g10 doesn't line up to the ti liner on the handle on mine either. and the rust was deeper/spread to the side more than i thought, had to use flitz [neverdull didn't do it], and some elbow grease. It is an interesting knife, wish it was longer than 3.1" though. With more Q+C and R+D I think it would have been an amazing knife, for 175 [and if the blade was longer :p]
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
Nice look at a blade that obviously has much buzz and great anticipation. I'm with cibolodave on the 2nd wave of production list @ knifeworks. With all of the problems they've experienced with this launch, I'm kind of glad I'm wasn't in on the first wave. Hopefully they iron out their problems, the rust on yours to me is unacceptable on a brand new knife. Especially at this price point.
seti351 1 year ago
@seti351 Yea I hope so too. And that rust was a lot, well maybe not "alot" but, it was a bit more damage than I thought. Neverdull didn't quite do it, so I had to use flitz, and found the black coating was off, and the rust migrated a little to the side also. But ya hopefully some of the problems will be fixed, I don't know if people consider the blade being dangerously close to the spine as a problem. If it is, then I don't think a second wave will fix it, since its design thing and they-cont
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@seti351 -cont and they would need to make some design changes. The rust I am just gonna say that was a lemony fresh isolated deal perhaps. There are the other issues that I heard about but who knows. The one thing I will say was, it felt kind of weird to me,how much of a buzz and anticipation this knife had, that it made me think the blade was supposed to be bigger lol. When i got it and looked at the 3.1" blade, I could have sworn it was supposed to be bigger but it looks smaller than thought
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@kingcamo123 -cont - is diff from what I hear when I play it on YT, so its a bit hard to totally make it right. Well I kind of get used to just checking the second timer, then stopping etc, at least by now you would hope I would have adapted lol. But sometimes I get caught up in saying something or carried away, I should say, and it stops. The camera doesn't really tell you except the sound it makes that its processing the clip it just took. And when it happens I lose my train of thought /place
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@kingcamo123 Thanks mate, I know what you mean, it took a huge, at least 1/4-1/3 or more i forget now of my collection sales and such for these two. Yea it was eminem, I need a doctor =] lol yea sorry bout that, ive been fiddling with the sounds for awhile. If you can believe it, most of the time I need to put it like 3 clicks from mute out of I would assume like 15-25? never counted. And it depends on the bit rate etc. And the weird thing is, the sound I hear on my movie maker, is diff. -cont
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
quit rubbing it in our face 8-)
I so want one. I am definitely next on the second production wait list with knifeworks. Excellent job with the comparisons.
cibolodave 1 year ago
@cibolodave lol sorry mate. In my defense, I did sell at the least 1/4-1/3 of my collection to purchase these two. Hopefully the second runs won't see some of these, although not sure if they will drastically change it over my petty concerns - minus the rust, I don't think any new knife should come with that]
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
that is one beefy knife, but a great design, i didnt notice but is the pocket clip reversable for left handed carry?
thomassmyth65 1 year ago
@thomassmyth65 yea I think this knife could have been really great, kind of like a "cheaper" hinderer alternative, sorta, but definitely needs a bit more R+D and Q+C. Sorry for not including that slipped my mind, its not reversible unfortunately [so no reverse grip waves], but you can purchase a left hand version.
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
Damn dude, rust spots already? Man DPX is not getting off to the a right start with this knife. Just more problems... It's a shame. This is like my SOG Pentagon Elite when closed, you can touch the blade from the handle spine. Great info man, you always overwhelm me with information:) Thanks!
darkchild57 1 year ago
@darkchild57 ya and its on the side of that point too, which I noticed later, so its a deeper one than I thought [since its spreading], and I tried cleaning it with neverdull but only took like 50% off or so, so I am gonna try the last of my flitz next. Ya at least you understand re: the blade near the spine, its a bit of a precarious position especially if I hard grab for it in my pocket,*cough wave feature cough* lol. Sorry about the info :p I just dump whatever I research Ill have to fix that
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
Your trying to kill me here aren't you Jeff?? DAMN!!!!!! Those Hest folders are sexy and so is the Fixed blade ah.. :D!!!! Right now the fixed blade is out of stock at the store i usually shop at :(. Hopefully that changes!!! Damn it man, now i really want that fixed blade, all i do is look at it online!!! 5:00 = "Numb" by Linkin Park :D lol, just though i'd share what i heard there :D!!! Great overview Jeff, some minor stuff like the clip and the rust might bother someone, but overall I LOVE IT
TheLazySpoiledKitty 1 year ago
@TheLazySpoiledKitty Hopefully its because of the change around to the hest 2? although I frequent DPX a lot and they seem to still be in the drawing phase for the hest 2, so it may be taking time due to the drop in collab between esee and dpx? who knows. lol Numb remix =], well all the songs were remixes less troublesome if you know what i mean =X. ya it was just a little disheartening to find after waiting so long and the costs [and you kind of expect higher quality from lionsteel --cont
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@TheLazySpoiledKitty --cont-- whom produced the knives [as you know they are italian, and italian made goods that are pricey, are usually well built], but these I don't know they had a lot of little stuff going on but we shall see :p The rust was a little deeper than I first thought, I thought it was just some surface issue, some the q tip took off, I even rubbed it with the neverdull cotton infused stuff only took a little more off. So tomm. Im going to use my last bit of flitz and lb. it off
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@TheLazySpoiledKitty Oh and if you are still looking at other fixed blades, new ones in the esee line up should be popping up. They are starting to have a few that can be bought in a stainless version. Like the esee 4 stainless, or you can get the 1095. Not sure if it will be so for their whole lineup though. [not sure what SS it is either]. 2011 has a lot of amazing stuff lol. Too bad I can't buy any more after the few I will show over time. Since I need to save for that seb in 10-12 months
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@jeffjuice3886 P.S. If I, a non-working, disabled, with a pretty bad disease atm, getting a monthly government paycheck that used to be 4 hours of RN work a month. I think you can definitely get some of these knives :p. BUT I will admit, having a GF kind of knocks it out of balance. So I don't blame you lol
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
looked like theres a flat spot on the cutting edge when you shined the light right at 10:15..kinda disappointing with all the problems
drumrboy80 1 year ago
Blade is smooth as hell, only thing is that rust spot, for the price it should have came with no problems. besides that blade is smooth!!! great review also!!
Rudemustang1 1 year ago
@Rudemustang1 ya it is quite smooth, thanks =] ya I was a bit disheartened about the rust, but was hesitant because of how close the blade is to the back of the blade, I mean its not a problem when open, just a possibility when in the pocket, and say you hurry to grab it hard. So I am probably just whining at that point lol.
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
do you think its a quality control issue? or u think you got a lemon? i would be very upset with the rust.
tuffthumbz 1 year ago
@tuffthumbz lol, and not sure about the lemon.... the LE blade tip being above the handle issue was widespread, a lot of the 250 people had that problem [although varying heights], the blade at the back spine I think is a general thing, probably a design thing, the rust I have not heard anyone else have yet, I have heard of the slippage of lock from a few, and one case of the clip breaking. So not as rare as a lemon, a little QC, and a little design problem mixed together I think.
jeffjuice3886 1 year ago
@jeffjuice3886 Alot of problems in the first run. I am suprised, maybe they should have stuck by ESEE for this one? Im rethinking getting this now. The blade coming that close wile closed sound a bit unpleasant. Great review and im still jealous as hell
tuffthumbz 1 year ago
@tuffthumbz Yea seems to be that way, but irregardless, they were using lionsteel as the producers, and esee split this collab project with DPX 3 weeks before the supposed release [christmas week]. So no really one person/company to blame really. The rust thing does suck though i tried to take it off with some never dull, it seems to be deeper than I first thought, Ill have to squeeze the tiny bit of flitz I had left sometime later. lol and thanks :p

omg i hate u!!! lol good stuff
