  • Can't say I've witnessed anything with the circuit breakers. The number of conflicting messages I got from instructors about the 172 and best practices with the fuel system. Some would say that I am best following a left-right alternation like a PA38. Others would say just 'bung it on both' as they flow into each other anyway. I would be told to switch the feeds off after a flight by one instructor, another would say to leave it on incase someone doesn't do their checks properly and takes off...

  • Thanks for the reply. Yes I have encountered the foibles of the handbrake. Also have suffered the CB popping when the flaps are deployed. Its the same CB that isolates the starter switch circuit.

With only a little time in 172s ( I have several hundred hours in PA28s) I was unprepared for the fuel crossfeed system. Parked up on a slope if the tank selector is left on both it feeds to the downslope tank and, possibly out of the overflow. Never mind, I am sure the grass will grow back one day.

  • Hi there I take it that Ravenair will want to keep their registration mark? G-RVRI was actually the second aircraft Id ever flown as a student, although it had the registration G-CCCC then. Not much more to say than its a classic old C-172 - stable, docile, it virtually flies itself. Any niggles that I can remember will have changed after being serviced over the years, such as rudder pressure, hand brake behaviour. Nothing outstanding springs to mind.

  • I have just bought this ship. What was she like to fly?
