  • I am honored :)

  • the home for those who wants to become an electrical engineer.... =)

  • hey guys is electrical engineering the best out of other enginerring jobs

  • MIT is the biggest balloon in the world.

  • This YouTube video is an EXCERPT from a one hour long video called "Iran- Understanding Iran and the Iranian People".

You can watch the FULL video here: watch?v=qtsbwGwAMjw

To get to this part, just fast forward to the 50:40 marker.

I'm not against this video. I'm rather giving people the opportunity to watch it in entirety.

  • sharif???

    hahaha

    its a dream.they are totaly crazy...nothing in science.just talking

    :)))))))))))))))))))))))

  • Its because they are selected from the students who are very intelligent and extremely hard working, with very powerful math and physics background from highschool. In the program itself, they are taught the very advanced and complicated stuff that only student like them can tolerate. That makes Sharif great for undergr, but when it comes to projects and research, Iranian universities do not have huge fundings, so they cannot conduct real research that yield in technological advancements.

  • @ehsanmon

we are waiting for Einstein from sharif

    :)))))))))))))))))))))))))

    sorry.you are nothing,sub zero.

I don't know why you leave your university if its good???

why you can not do some progress in science and engineer??

its a problem in 3 world....they think that they are the best in the world...

    wake up!! you are zero.

  • @omidisara2005 pour..

  • GO IRAN! DOWN WITH ZIONISM WARMONGERING!

  • This comment was made by Bruce Wooley, Dean of electrical engineering of stanford at the time. The thing is Wooley has been fortunate enough to hire the top 1% of undergraduates of sharif EE throughout the past 20 years and that is why his comment is biased. Sharif EE is very good, I got my bachelors in ee from sharif, but is still not comparable to Harvard and Stanford undergrad programs in engineering.

  • @jjarmoosh

3 world will not wake up....

they come here but still in a big dream....

  • You can't teach talents and ambitions in the classroom... A lot of students are book smart but they can't think creatively to come up with new innovative ideas and take risks...

If the environment isn't open to new ideas.. or doesn't inspire anyone to try anything and reach for the skies.... It's all for naught.

  • @beenn15 It's no secret that a lot of tech entrepreneurs and engineering students are moving to the US to setup their own businesses or work for US companies. The environment embraces creativity... Failure is an option.

  • Wow, I had no idea.

  • Iran's people do not deserve its leadership.

  • Clearly: He says, students of electrical engineering, he means the graduates and those who have been accepted in the school.

  • yeah they have also set up a basij compound at the uni giving everything a political twist and don't let the poor students to be focused on their researches

and once students are protesting or complaining crack them down right away

  • it doesn't surprise me , Iranians , wich is persians , are smart and talented ,history just repeats itself.

  • Im from MIT and this is deffinitely true, everyone tries to make freinds with Students from Shariff, to get training from them. But its difficult because they have a very different system of math. Some of which I heard they learn in elementary/high school. :(

  • @Pheonix776 right now i live in UK.. i studied in Iran till year 5 and the maths and science we did in that year was just about the same as year 10-11 here in UK as GCSE and that was just year 5.. i remember i used to study three weeks non stop just for each test.

Btw Persians always took maths and science/physics very seriously!

  • @ahriman46 How is the math/science in high school?

  • @janjan55555 i dont know.. i left when i was in year 5.. one year away from high school.

  • @ahriman46 I see, got an indipendant source I can check on the internet regarding Iran's engineering/science development, most are just plain bashing Iran as if it's a stupid underdeveloped country that wants nukes -.-

  • @janjan55555 we have the fastest rate of growth in science in the world, we are among the top 10 in nanotech R&D, we are among the few countries that have the technology to send satellites & live species into orbit, we have the capability to produce every weapon we need including fighter jets such as 'Saegheh' and 'Shafaq' and UCAVs like 'sofreh mahi' & 'Karrar'.

we make robots, super computers, planes, cars.. etc and we r not looking to get nuke weapons, thats what media has filled in ur head

  • @ahriman46 I never said Iran did develop nukes did I? :P Ps I am not falling for the zionist tricks to make the glorious Persian country of Iran fall, Iranian government is too smart to be fooled unlike stupid arabs who are puppets serving the American (Israeli) master! When I said got an indipendant source I can check on the internet regarding Iran's engineering/science development, that was a question to you ;) I can't find a single UNBIASED site that doesn't underappreciate Irans science =(

  • It's ridiculously difficult to be admitted to Sharif University

  • Thanks,

    Amazing

I am trying to get to US for higher education in electrical engineering, but I didn't study in sharif.

    wish me luck

  • MIT is way better than that school!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing to hear this..amazing

  • Viva Sharif University

  • Comment removed

  • these type of gifted students are every where on the earth and in a same amount , sharif students are as talented as mit's are.

but what it makes mit 1000 times better than sharif is the facilities it provides .

  • U know Mathematic was founded by Iranians who dominate the knowledeg in the world. But Unfortunately ,Iran was captured by berbers such as Alexander ,Arabs ,Mongols and they burned all the libraries ,people , scientists .Becauseo all of them Iranian have th highest IQ in the world .I know stanford is better than sharif but Sharif Students are exceptional Brilliant .For some iranian scholars

  • To All People ,First of all U don't know Iranian People so much.U know Iranian established the first great University near 2100 years ago named Gundi Shapur .You know Iranian were the founder of Algebra ,Trigonometry ,Astronomy .U know Iranian invented many surgerical operations .

  • It's true and fascinating. I'm just learning about that. You'd think white people are on top of human intelligence with Isaac Newton and such, practically celebrating Eurocentricity, but they never told me about ANY of this in school which is important. The advancements in math and science in the middle ages while europe was still developing. Good stuff. .

  • Alhamdullilah,

May Ali(as) be with all you Iranian students, you guys are the future.

  • Well I'm EE student at the Technion in Israel, not in USA. Moreover, Sharif school of EE is not ranked among the top 10. It's probably a very good EE school but to rank it 1 in the world (or its undergraduate program) is absolutely exaggerated.

  • First of all, This Video is talking only about "Electrical Eng" not general ranking!!! Secondly the guy who spoke about Sharif in Stanford Univ. is "Bruce Wooley" who is world famous for IC designers. I think you are not a EE student or you are not familiar with universities of California. Just go there and see how they judge about students fro Sharif and stop judging fast with no fact.

  • @saeeddaneshgar Be quiet.

  • there...No ranking has put Sharif university among the top 5, top 10, top 20, or even top 50. It's bullshit and in the same time it's a scoop. I guess that the level of education at Sharif university is absolutely high and probably better than in many westren universities. However they are undoubtedly not among the best or close to it.

  • True. He has exaggerated a bit about ranking. But sharif's students are truly gifted. Basically you got to be a nerd to make it there .

  • @ Emad9191: Jundi Shapor was bulit during Sassanian Empire. That is about 1500-1700 ago ! How did you come up with 2100 ! LOL.

    Greeks made the first college/university!

  • I don't know what you are talking about exactly. But if I wrote something then I can also prove it.

  • It's quite pathetic they are citing one professor (Jewish by the way) who was talikng from his own experience and didn't base his argument on formal, arranged, methodic and strict process of evaluation as accepted. Formally the Israeli technion is ranked among the 25 best technical universities in the world with its department of electrical engineering and computer science ranked among the "top 10" and by one prominent ranking in the same level with MIT and "second to none" -Iran is just not

  • Ranking is not important. sharif's students are chosen from the top 1% gifted students of Iran. That is what his point is that EE program is the best. I am sure when it comes to research Sharif can not even match smaller universities in the US, but on teaching their graduates are very skilled without doubt.

  • There are acknowledged organizations that are specialized in ranking EE programs. One of their criterions is always the quality of graduate students and teaching level. The all point is that among world top 50 I never saw Iranian univerity. Infact, among these 50 academic institutions about 40 are Americans most others located in the EU and in Japan.

  • @fmahini That is true and this is because universities in Iran are not funded by industry in order to conduct large scale research programs as opposed to all other high ranking universities. Therefore, they do a lot of redundant and deprecated research in their PhD programs which are the decisive research programs. Other reason is that most of truly amazing Sharif bachelor students flee the country after they graduate. Nonetheless, there is a bulk of papers bachelor students in Sharif!

  • hahaha they said Iran was loosing it's great minds, they said Iran will never survive under sanctions.

When you follow right path no one can stop you!

  • Persians as a percentage of all other minorities disproportionately reside in the most affluent regions in the States and Canada and have one of the lowest criminality rates in North America, I wonder why???? It aint because of luck, I'll tell you that much

  • sharif university is the best in electrical Engineering in the world. only iran

  • The Iranians are very smart, so were the Germans and Japanese. They fuck with us they get demolished. I don't respect that they have the best, according to this man, Electrical Engineering program in the world.

Americans, me being one of the smart ones, are increasingly because to weak and dependant. Are free public schools are filled with low grade teachers that have no values and we have a weaking religious aspect to our culture. It will take crisis to de-feminize the U.S. population.

  • I think the American educational system is messed up from the base, and it is partially because of using too much technology. An average American engineering student doesn't know how to plot y=x+4 in his/her head. I am an electrical engineering student at OSU. I hate to say this but Americans are surely in minority in the majority of classes I take.

  • Learn to spell before claiming to be "one of the smart ones!"

Sharif was not said to be the best in EE by the man above you dumb cunt. The EE Chair at Stanford said it!! But obviously you know much more about the subject than the chair at Stanford! Just stick to you WWF and CNN and don't worry about it. P.S

de- feminize? WTH is that. That would mean the opposite of feminize or to masculinise. What are you on?

  • Learn to spell? Come on. What don't you understand about the current cultural course of the US? I see your from Canada so it figures. Just a shadow to this great land.

  • Coooool

  • amazing

  • All those American Jews who been blindly supporting Israel for the last 40 years because of the guilt felt by Holocaust etc and believe Iran is about to nuke Israel out of existence should go to pdxjustice(dot)org and watch lectures by other Jews who have become fed up with Israel abusing the world in their name.

Jeff Halper, Norman Finkelstein and rabbi Arik Ascherman are all courageous Jews who have nothing to gain by giving another perspective on Israel & should be respected for their views.

  • If I am not mistaken, a Zionist does in many ways equal to the Muslim Islamist. Both use their religion in combination with their political and social agendas, and often tends to be extremely fundamental.

So if I say that I have problem with Zionists, than I am not a antisemmit, right? I only think that their ideology and political view is wrong.

Anyway, that goes also for Muslims who think that all Jews should be eradicated. There needs to be a peace between you.

  • After all, both the Muslims, the Jews and the Christians share most of their religion. And they all agree about the beginning, it is just that after some time that you have different perspectives on god and life, but you should respect each other the same. Its all the same god, that's my point ;)

  • Love Iran

    Love Iran

    Love Iran

    Love Iran

    Love Iran

  • I have a Doctorate in EE and I can tell you, there is no such thing as the "best EE school" whatsoever. The formulas and equations that you learn in the Engineering Program are all the same. While the teaching method will differ, at the end, you will learn the same thing. Over a period of 12 years, I have met countless people who who have been to two or more Engineering schools (including MIT) and they said the same thing.

  • LordoftheKeyboard

Unlike the US & Europe, Universities in places like Iran have an entry exam. The places are so few and so competitive that in order to get in good Universities, you have to be a semi-genius as well as having the ability to work extremely hard.

Maybe then the companies being referred to by this chap look beyond ppl the ability to do quadratic equations.

  • HomeKirchoff. I think your position still doesn't negate LordoftheKeyboard's assertion. We have universities that are extremely competitive to get into (MIT, Cal Tech, UCBerkley, etc etc etc.)but once in there the education an EE student gets is pretty similar to that of the student going to the next university because...they all teach EE. So the difference comes to the student not and so much the university. The Iranian Kid should be pretty similar to the American or British kid.

  • Tyokol- appreciate ur point & those of LordoftheKeyboard's. I believe, notwithstanding the calibre of students and the faculty of places like MIT, Yale etc, the Unis themselves offer a lot more in terms of extracurricular activities to their students than Unis in Iran do.

True- the kids in Iran work very hard & attend school 6 days of the week & all that but personally, in my line of business, I prefer UK & US graduates over any other country which doesnt have English as its first language.

  • Mr Dickhead- if Iranians talk against the US is not against the US way of life or populace, it is against the US administration. May I remind you that your illustrious George Bush is the least popular US president ever who has changed the world's opinion of Americans. Whatever you care about that or not is your problem but the Iranians reflect the opinion of 70% of the US and 99% of the world.

Iranians studying in the US are generally American Iranians & u can't compare them to the Chinese.

  • Haha- I thought ur referring to regular Iranians- defending Al-Qaeda is indefensible.

Nevertheless Im not sure if the ppl ur referring to r actually Iranian cuz Ive come across many, each with their own agenda but none has any support for a Moslem terrorist group. Even the government of Irans been threatened by Al-Qaeda 4 having helped the Americans in 2002, handing over the fleeing Al-Qaeda fighters.

Anyway, next time u see these ppl tell them to move forth & multiply- they aint Iranian.

  • Hey you idiot, what's the relation???!!! answer logically, dont just throw words like fucking idiots that have watched only CNN or SKY News???!!!

  • Do U know how much technology we gave to U? Do U know the logarithm or algorithm that U use in your engineering computations are coming from AlKharazmi (an Iranian Scientist), Do you know alcohol that U use for medical activities was invented by Iranian Scientist (Raazi) and .... I think this is completely your natural right to be angry about Iranian's current government, But Plz do not forget that dumb persons can be find every where in the world. Plz think deeply about my comment. Thanks,

  • I've seen this happening even to Asian universities in Korea, China, Japan and India

So, whats the point of the video?

  • why do iranians take pride in some thing that they aren't?

I've seen such crap happening quite a lot of times

  • oh man this is fuked. USA gives them green card as soon as they finish university

  • This was undergrad school. Guess where they go next?

  • Iranian are fanatics, that goes for any best in any thing we do.

  • یحیونی! :)

  • Enjoy this article at the Washington Post

(Iran Makes the Sciences A Part of Its Revolution)

  • If you all read the comments all the way down to the last one, you see different and similar ones. But, even if this gentleman is right, the sad part is that the intelligent students in Iran all go to technical schools and in the US the smart ones choose humanities which is more beneficial to the society. The quality of education in human sciences in Iran is low and students see engineering as the only prestigious job. Oh well!

  • "Video from MIT law school experts"

uh...MIT does not have a law school

This vid is from the Massachusetts school of law, not MIT

It would be great if you could find some experts from MIT commenting on Sharif U. technology...

  • Thanks, I corrected it.

  • They aren't given "straight green cards." They are given plain old student visas, and that is not automatic either.

  • gosh, were is the rest of the video?

  • tehran polytechnic is the same, especially for its postgraduate programs.

  • khafesho baba vatanforush

  • yeah but sharif student are freaks .. they are total nerd ... they cant even act social, its like they all have a IQ of 400000 ... lol ...bunch of freaks, but yeah, still smart

  • I have a handful of classmates who are undergrads from Sharif university and they are all quite good academically. And they are nice guys to hangout with too :)

  • Forgetting about being an Iranian, without a boubt Sharif University is one of the world's finest technical universities, the point which I agree with this gentleman. But he is nothing but a liar about straight green cars. The US still continues its stupid way toward Iranian professors and students. They have avoided giving visas to Iranian scholars for years and it isn't some thing new.

  • Are you an academic who has worked for all 3 institutions, or are you another brave warrior embarked on a campaign of misinformation?

Some of our best university professors in Great Britain are from Iran.

I've been learning a lot about that country via Youtube and most of it is good. You'd never hear anything positive about Iran in the mainstream media. It's always the men in dark robes, as they speaker says.

  • I've just finished my undergrad studies in Sharif. I strongly agree that's one of the best univ's in the world in undergrad level, but notice that the guy in the video is stupidly exaggerating! that's obvious from his sentence "given green cards"!! so don't believe his other words as well!

Sharif students admitted by american univ's have lots of difficulties even in acquiring entrance visa (particularly after George-Mahmood close friendship!); some of my friends missed their admission.

  • No, but when you get in and finish school, nobody goes back! Almost everybody stays for a post doc and gets a green card!

  • that's too different from being offered a straight greencard by the university itself!

my point was, the man in the video is a liar, is not trustable,

  • My point, Mr."too different", is what you don't understand here is that the man is not teaching f**kin immigration procedures! Those three words were the least important in his sentence! I think you should email him and let him know how stupid you are, because he is over estimating Sharif grads..

  • Mr(s). intelligent!

when someone tells even a small lie, then his entire speech is doubted, no matter how much his words match your childly interests!

  • Its not a f**kin lie! Its not even a mistake in his speech, because his speech is about something else! (GoogleVideo "Understanding Iran and the Implications for U.S. Policy").. And leave me alone, man!

  • ok baba hamoon ke to migi! khanandeye in commenta khodesh sho'ooresh mirese,

"leave me alone" et mano koshte! :)), roo ro beram!

  • to kheili parti, akhe! khosham miad! :))

  • Can you a put a longer version of this clip. That would be nice.

  • You can find the full length program at Google Video with the title - Educational Forum: Understanding Iran and the Implications for U.S. Policy -

It is an interesting one hour program, which has even more good news about the Education of the people and their Achievements. Great People and Great Country.

  • Thanks alot iskaa29

  • My pleasure. I love and respect the Iranian people, for they have given knowledge to the world. No one can do Engineering without studying CHEMISTRY, MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS. They were all invented by Iranian Scientists, and given to the world FREE of CHARGE.

  • Saeed jan dastet dard nakoneh, damet gharm.

  • I have seen many different rankings for universities, what are they based on? By the way, this Sharif International in Kish has nothing to do with the Sharif in Tehran, right?

  • Those rankings are based on too many parameters and thats the reason you don't see iranian universities among them!

Also this video is only about Electrical Engineering and only undergraduate!

But yes the Sharif International in Kish is only to take your money (like azad university) and have nothing to do!

  • I see now. I am doing Electrical myself so have looked around for university rankings a lot. No wonder I never saw any Iranian uni!

  • Kish Islands belong to Iran

  • LOL electrical engineering. Thats right mudafunglars!!! You can learn how to wire houses and we'll get on with the cool stuff. ELECTRONICS EVERY TIME DUDES!!!

  • i already knew it... My brother studied in Sharif and now he is MIT for his PHD...

Kalee gondehaa Iran hamashon az Sharif mian

  • I have had 5 students from Sharif in my group at Stanford for graduate studies. They are generally good but it is a big statement to tell that they are the best in the world. The video clip is just baseless and there is no fact behind it.

  • sharif has always been the best and it will remain the best

  • I checked last ranking and sharif was even lower than Tehran University( I remember Tehran was 1430 and Sharif 2600), Rankings are different, I don't know what is this ranking.

  • Well done to Sharif University AND its students. Thanks for posting. Thats truly amazing.

  • Wow, I am so flattered.

You choose the best of the crop for students in Iran and that is what you get.

  • We should give credit to sharif's STUDENTS.

  • so true

  • it's better be Put this way: Sharif is Great because of having the top students in the nation every year, it JUST because of the STUDENTS and not because of the fucking educational system :-) good luck to every sharifi on the Globe

  • your comment addresses my question even before I ask it. hopefully the recognition of success won't be damaged by the politics and hinder the teachers.

  • First of all its about only EE Dept. Then if you compare this fucking educational system with the other universities of the world from teaching point of view, you will see it's still better. But from research point of view and also characteristics of professors, I agree with you.

  • RE: mehdigoudarzi

Finally, I am sorry that I can say a large group of sharif EE students use the system & money for receiving their BSc. degree and then waste it by going to the third order universities of the world just for escaping from IRAN, not for Study!!! and these are Fucking STUDENTS!!!

  • Calm down my young friend or you're gonna shoot your pants!! About the results of this whole damn system "teachers and student", I totally agree. About some very bright Prof.s in SUT, I also agree, but since you're bringing up "Sudy", I should ask you a question. Do you think it's totally logical that at least 85 out of 100 top ranks in that "FUCKING KONKOOR" go to EE in sharif? look what are the input and the output of the "Whole System". Don't get so up and high this easily.

  • If you look at the model of India's ITI, it wouldn't bother you so much that they leave Iran. In reality their presence in US strengthen Iran on global level. After all it was Indian's expats that brought tech. revolution to India at such a rapid rate, not people within the country.Like wise it has been our collective achievement in this country that has made us a force to be respected out side of Iran.

  • I am proud of those iranian students who go to abroad for studying and become a great engineer or scientist even if they don't come back to IRAN.

  • But the problem is that most of students in sharif only apply abroad to enjoy life and escape from IRAN and if you listen to their reasons you will find like this: 1- Military Service 2- They don't like to see that their wife should put on scarf!

They use sharif for jumping to United States and I am absolutely sure that they will not help even one cent during their life to IRAN or only Sharif!

  • However, I have studied in Sarif and I am outside of IRAN and I like all my friends and I am proud of them!

  • I have no idea how long you have been out, but I assure you, the longer you stay the more alienated you will become and the more you will feel the need to go back to your roots. Mr Bush is working hard at making sure you feel unwelcome. Good luck to you if you stay here and accomplish, I have never been let done by Sherif or Alborz graduates "the night is young".Lets sit at judgment seat in 15 years from now.

  • yes I agree with it, my brother who studied in Sharif, now studies in USA (MIT) and he is one of the best student of his class

  • I have been friend with some Sharif graduated engineers and have worked with them for some years. They are undoubtedly the best and the most intelligent engineers of the world. It's quite true!

  • Hendooooooooooooneha ro jam kon nayoftan

  • Sharif is a great university

  • Eival baba nemidoonestam :-) So Grrrrrrrreat!

  • its true

  • Wow!

  • Great!
