And I would respond with the only thing I agree with what vickersman down here said: Jesus Christ already. I wish you would look in your heart and hear the message we are trying presenting. Which is life of Christ living in is. I wish we would all encourage and edify one another rather than nitpick on unnecessary details t hat cloud the message of Christ.
I think you'll find dire accompliments of hymns clouds the message. It happens at our church, they are so busy doing this that and the other, you forget the words, can't hear them and forgot why you even came.
I'm starting to think that your comments are because, you actually can't hear the words on my recording. If so, let me assure you, this is a terrible recording made from a digital still camera in the middle of an orchestra projecting its sound. Our choir is a 100+ member choir which projects its sound well.
If that is not what you meant. Then let me assure you as well, and I get this from great authority, having heard our Music Pastor say so many times, that we will never do anything to diminish the Salvation message of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the only reaosn we sing and play our instruments in the first place.
This reminds me of something a student of theology (and close friend of mine) said once regarding the diminishing quality of church music in recent decades: "Too many people take the attitude that as long as the text is about God n' Jesus, the aesthetic integrity (or lack thereof) can be ignored." The example in this video is NOT the idiom for which this otherwise glorious hymn was conceieved. It would be equally ridiculous to perform "Our God is an Awesome God" w/ pipe organ and chancel choir.
as far as I'm concerned, God has not put these kinds of limits on the way we worship.. and I can almost guarantee you that the author of this song would most likely not either. Worship is beyond words and a style of music. It is an attitude of the heart. So if you are so caught up in the method, friend, then I suggest you take a good long look at your heart, and ask yourself if you are in actuality worshiping God.
I think you need some time to really listen and meditate on the words of this song in order to understand what we are trying to do. This is not a show to us: we worship Christ and it doesn't matter what way we play this song, as long as our attitudes and our minds are in that right place. And by the way, it's ironic that you would complain about the way we praise the Lord on the song "Crown Him With *Many* Crowns". God Bless.
I must agree, there is a certain way of singing songs that ruins the words as the music takes over, and this is one of them.
