  • thats a good idea. lets let the dog climb in the hottub. good thinking.

  • he was trying to save them my newf does the same thing

  • isn't that like, really bad for the dog???? like the chlorine and stuff???

  • lol the dog bullied them out of the hot tub...

  • BY ODIN'S TAIL!!

  • rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bless him

  • He looks like he's trying to get the kids out, or atleast onto the shallow bit.

  • I guess is fun for the dog that it has less weight in the water and can play easier.

  • Lol! 'And how are we going to get in?'

  • no! my dog is a nefounland and if you keep them active when there puppies instead of keeping them locked up they are really active!

  • Groovy....

  • Maybe the hot tubs a little small for him, don't you think? lol

  • CLASSIC little kid:

Dad: Watch the paws they'll bruise and even cut you

Kid (from under dog): I know I am

  • newfoundlands were bread to retrieve things from the water so maybe he was trying to save the them cause he thought they werent in there on purpose

  • I have to agree with ralphyization on this. Getting a dog means adjusting your life to suit its needs. For newfs, that means long walks every day and easy access to water. They are indeed an active and social breed if given the chance. I grew up with them and love them but could never have one in good conscience.

  • I would be watching videos like this one for hours...

  • It must take him hours to dry off :)

  • Sooo Sweet!!!...;););)

  • Ohhh sooo cute!!! I wish I had my very own Newfie to play with in the pool!!! I always wanted one, I love them so much!!!...;););)

  • I miss my Newf. She died of old age years ago. I'm working on adopting one for my son. I hope he has as much fun as your kids are having here!

  • My newfie loves, loves, loves the snow, but the snow can get compacted between its toes. Maybe if you got it booties it would help. I think the dog would be fine in an apartment as long as you have A/C in the summer and give it three decent walks a day. :) good luck, they are an incredible breed.

  • cool :-) amazing dogs ...and cool hottub for the kids ....

  • This is a beautiful dog

  • Beautiful!

  • @VolleyballSongbird adopt one, its much cheaper and you save a life!

  • he reminds me of my flatcoated retriever jacob he would always do things like the and have a face like he doesnt know what hes doing wrong if you dont know what a flattie looks like look it up there the best dogs ever they sorta look like a less broad newfie

    r.i.p jacob and pepsi <3

    ps ur newfie is gorgeous

  • Quick question, can you have a Newfie in a larger apartment? I really want a dog and thinking about buying a Newfie after reading about them and stuff. But the prob is the dog is big and i live in a apartment in the city so i dont have that close to the beach and stuff if it want to swim! But i got a large balchony 2! So what do you guys think, otherwise can you recomend a rase that is similar to the Newfie but that can live in a apartment. Im a extreme dude so i love snowboarding btw!

  • @FunOrNotFun They are not very active dogs. They lay around most of the time unless if they get excited. Its more important to keep them cool in the summer. I recommend the Wahl KM2 clippers and two 3/8" #4 skip tooth blades. The skip tooth blades are much better at cutting through the undercoat. Get two of them because then you can swap blades when one gets hot. The clippers go for $99 and the blades can be had new on ebay for around $30 apiece. Total of around $160.

  • @kevlaurtube Cool, thanks bro! Well in summers i often go to the beach alot and do some wakeboarding and in the winters i do alot of snowboarding so can the dog join me to the beach and the mountains? What i've been reading Newfies like water (ofc) and also snow?

But once again i want whats best for the dog thats why im not sure of getting one even though it feels like the perfect choice for me, cause once again i live in a apartment! But you think that it will not be any prob?

  • @FunOrNotFun I think a newfie could be fine in an apartment. They are not very active. But I also think its much easier to own a fenced in back yard with a dog door....

  • @kevlaurtube Awesome!! Thanks bro! Last question, i do alot of extreme sports do you think a newfie could join me to the mountains and snowboarding and to the beach and do some wakeboarding?

  • @FunOrNotFun I use to have a ski boat and the dogs did fine on it. I would not take a dog to the snowy mountains. Any dogs paws will get frost bitten after 20-30 min.

  • @kevlaurtube Sick, yeah i was just thinking about that the newfoundland dogs like snow, but thanks for all the answers!!

  • @kevlaurtube okey it's a long time since you is but i just came to think about huskeys and malamutes? i got problems believing that their paws will get frost bitten in such a short time as 20-30 minutes.. Look at wolves their outside all year i don't hear them complaining either? :D

  • @FunOrNotFun yes newfies are built for cold weather.Should be fine in a apartment as long as it is walked daily, however you need to keep them cool as they are not used to hot climates.

  • @FunOrNotFun My only suggestion is that you first learn how to spell. Are you retarded?

  • @darringuiter Nobody asked for your opinion.

  • @FunOrNotFun I would NOT recommend it...just think of the drrol and fur everywhere, and the sand that the dog drags in from the beach, and they take forever to dry...it would just be pure chaos for you to have this dog....

  • @FunOrNotFun How about a St. Bernard? Saints can live in apartments.

  • @FunOrNotFun Off the cuff?? BAD idea!!! Apartment/ Newfie?? NOT good!

  • @ralphyization I didn't mean to insult, I just think it would be really hard to keep the dog happy in that environment. That's all. If you're super dedicated, I guess it could happen. I just know how much my doofus likes to play out side. That's all....

  • @FunOrNotFun There is a video from Animal Planet talks about having a Newfie in an apartment. It is on youtube and is called Dogs 101: Newfoundland.

It won't let me post a link so you will have to search for it.

Remember, even if the dog is fine with your amount of space, landlords may not be happy with the size of your pet! It may be different where you are, but in my city most rentals have a 30 pound pet limit.

  • Newfie probably is having a heck of a time here, as he really wants to rescue them and they are NOT cooperating. I could not swim with my Newfie because he would circle me until I would take hold of his ruff, and he would take me to the shore, side of pool whatever and if I did not let him get into the water, he would be so sad I could not stand it. So it was a weird , but he was such a great dog I got to not mind. Now he is gone and I would give anything for him to take me to shore again.

  • my newfoundland is about 10 months old and weighs 12 stone and we have a hot tub but why would you let a newfy in a hot tub they shed like a bitch

  • Beautiful Dogs, thanks for sharing.

  • hahahahaha the puppy said move over boys, Im coming in lol.. Too cute I love it

  • I've got a question about this breed. When they're young, do they look a bit like Labs before they get tht huge, fluffy pelt? A friend thought they were getting a lab puppy, but he's WAY bgger than any lab would get and he's got the huge newfie pelt now. He's only two years old and as large as a mini pony! They have made the mistake with their St. John's Dog too. Could they have mistaken a newfie for a lab?

  • @Wolfgirl2help I highly doubt a newfie puppy could be mistaken for a lab puppy. Newfie pups are VERY fluffy, lab pups are VERY smooth coat in comparison.

  • @kevlaurtube thank you for answering....What breed do you think he might be? He started smooth, but he's already the size of a small horse and is very thick furred now. Could he be a pyrinese(sp)?

  • @kevlaurtube Hmm.. Our dogs (mix newfoundland - boerboel) was mistaken for a labrador quite often when she was younger. Because she has a smooth coat as well, people sometimes still mistake her for one (even though she has a shoulderheight of 27 inch and weighs around 130 pounds). I can image if the coat hasn't set in yet, people could make the mistake, as most puppies have some kind of fluffy look. On the other hand people should know what they're selling/buying :)

  • A tv outside hanging on the fence? that cant be right.

  • OK, to the people who said that the newfie paws wouldnt hurt the child... you have obviously never swam in a lake with a newfie before. Yes, newfies are extremely gentile and good with kids, but when they are swimming their limbs thrust with great force. I am full grown male and they have left bruises on my chest from being in front of them while they swam.

  • @kevlaurtube there paws really do hurt i have humongous scratches on my back

  • I just got put on a wait list today to get a newf. I'm soooo excited. I've been itching for one for over 2 years, finally about to graduate so I can finally have one. :) These two are adorable especially mister adventure. I plan on putting mine through water training!

  • @AnthonyFamiglietti I recommend getting a male newf.... i know it sounds strange but our female is a little timid of the water. She will happily get wet, but wont dive into it like our male newfie does...

  • @kevlaurtube Do they understan quickly that they should not mark inside the house?

I bet a newfie mark is a hole river equivalent! :)

  • @kauxkaux Like any puppy, the first few months there are accidents, but both our newfies were very easy to train. The best way for any dog is to make them sleep in a kennel for the first 6-8 months. I also hung sleigh bells on the back door and trained them to ring the bells to go outside.

  • That is so cute! I love big dogs and how playful they can be and great with kids!

  • Some of you need to lighten up on the dad and understand where he's coming from before you start criticizing. He just told the kids to watch for the dog's paws, not to be afraid of the dog. I water train my newf & my legs are one big bruise all summer long. As strong as they are, one accidental rake down the leg with their claws & you're bruised for days. The dog could be gentle as a mouse and still accidentally get you with it's claws.

  • Dogs are cooler than cats...but we have 2 of them to go with the two dogs. They all get along. We have taken Odin to a lake several times and he ';heards' everyone swimming with him there as well. Lucy, the other newfie, doesn't really care for the water...weird. Newfs are sweet...but those paws can get you. They don't know their own strength all the time..especially when swimming.

  • Wow you have a hottub xD cte dog ^^

  • reason 996 why dogs are soo much cooler than cats !!!!

  • @SummerTheFuzzy : what a silly comparison... Cats and dogs ? It's like comparing which is better milk or strawberries - no connection whatsoever. Also, look up the word "specieism" - equivalent to "racism" against a species. I have both cats and dogs, they are different species with each their own beauty and needs. All are fluffy and cuddling : )

  • @bonafidesser Don't be silly, you can't keep milk OR strawberries as a pet !

  • Comment removed

  • I think the dog's trying to "rescue" the kids...newfoundland dogs have a very strong instinct for that, they don't want to see their people in the water. The way he's "herding" the kids, looks like he'd be good at water rescue training.

  • Ooooh, how stinkin sweet! He just melts my heart!

  • the dad needs to relax newfoundlands are some of the sweetest dogs ever.

  • that dad shouldn't act nervous when his kid is near animals cause then his kids will be nervous around animals. i mean i have a newfoundland and i would never tell anybody to keep away from him cause it makes ppl think they're not a friendly breed or that they would hurt u when they wouldn't. peole need to relax and let ur kids jump all over the dog if they want to cause its fun and a great way to keep the kids off ur back :-)ha

  • Very nice video; btw: we have had three Newfies. The father is correct; with giant breeds one's feet do take some abuse. It is one of the joys of ownership.

  • wow the father needs to chill...its not like the kid meant to get near his paws, he was just having fun, and newfs know how big they are, and they kno their limits, I wouldnt worry about them hurting the kids in any way.

  • his paws arent going to do anything to that kid.

there suppose to be kid friendly

  • does a bear go in the woods?

  • Oh yeah totally. My family used to have one and he was practically my brother. He was great around kids, fun to play with, but smart enough to know when something wasn't right. They're a little messy but totally worth the effort.

  • Oh yeah they shed.

  • @Shepard033 They shed but because of their personality and the general fun they bring to our daily lives....it is worth vacuuming and mopping every day of my life....and washing walls....at least one a day....and brushing them at least every other day in winter and every single day in spring and summer...they are worth it.

  • What fun they had!!...I'm thinking you will have trouble keeping Odin out now!!...lol...
