@donnaoday I can't find the clip anymore, I think it's not available, you can go to charlierose webpage and look for 'the pillowman', there're some excerpts of the play at the beginning and at 6:30 in the interview with billy crudup :)

Yes, I get to play Tupolski on the 27th, not really sure how to approach the role, it's a bit daunting at times, having to deal with Ariel's shouting.
You deal with it by dealing with Ariel. He's essentially your wind-up toy for most of the play. You need not react to his anger with anything other than a dismissive attitude or a weary resignation.
i just saw it today and you are correct, it is amazing.
they had that guy from the hustle and green street.
the acting was awesome.
i was sitting left of the stage and i swear i could have touched him if i wanted to.
anyone who lives in leicester, watch it because my preconceptions of the play were totally smashed today...im gonna take a mate of mine to see it in a few days.
i probably wont tell him that it scared the shit outta me, had so many jumpy moments.
i felt exactly the same way - king and grimm put together. my god, this play blew my mind. i read it two nights ago and i just can't stop thinking about it. what twisted brilliance!
This play is incredible. McDonaugh does a great job at really presenting these characters. We are currently doing a production of it and it's a very interesting show. The comedy in it, if played right, is absolutely hysterical. From Tupolksi's odd tactics, Katurian's snide remarks, Michal's itchy ass and Ariel's lack of patience, it's one of those shows you never know when to laugh outloud.
It's called a "black" or "dark" comedy. If played right, Katurian is absolutely hilarious. It's a beautiful type of comedy because it's uncomfortable. You want to laugh at things, but when you do, you look around and notice that everyone's doing the same thing: wondering if it's OK to laugh. That's the beauty of it. The more uncomfortable the show is, the funnier it becomes. I'm writing my University exit critique on this play. It's brilliant.
I finally read this play, since I've wanted to see it for years and haven't been able to. I want to see it now more than ever. Holy cow, what a script!
I am so pissed off that I missed this production. I saw this performed at my college last weekend and it blew me away. Possibly the best play I've ever seen.
I was lucky enough to see this show on Broadway- wow. Steppenwolf in Chicago did a version of it too recently, but their Ariel wasn't anywhere near as good as Ivanek. Still, you can't go wrong with this play. Pure genius.
sounds like teaching a golem how to read lol.

Last week I played Ariel in my drama exam!
It was so exhilerating to be graded for playing with knives, screaming and swearing at the top of my voice!

My college's student-run theatre just did this play and it was AMAZING! It was especially amazing that they let us do it since we're in Utah.
Wish I could've seen it on Broadway, too.
