Interesting despite all this testing the early '40s were underdeveloped took 2 or 3 years of customer testing to really get them right once sorted they were excellent. Problems with the electronics in later life but even these can be sorted today.
Thanks for the upload! My girlfriend just bought a well-maintained US market XJ40 from a family member (which probably explains the lowball price) for $1500 US! It's a `94, and has the 4.0ltr. Amazing car..smooth and competent. I've never driven/ridden in a car that handles well, and gives such a "cushy" ride at the same time. It's interesting to see how much work the Jaguar engineers put into this chassis.
Reminds me of back when britain was great (and spelt with a capital 'B'). Although the electrics are a bit iffy on mine, and it needs new steering rack bushes.

my first was a gunmetal grey 1984 series 3 sovereign 4.2
then about a year later i got my beloved metallic BRG 1987 XJ40 sovereign 3.6 :D
has a daimler interior, US headlights, an LSD and 17" performance wheels
sorta looks like the one at 3:48 :)
