This version of the song is pretty & melodic , but doesn't capture or embrace the original versions & variations of the dance version of "19". The lyrics of this song do not reflect on or have any vocal or lyrics relevance of what has gone on in Vietnam as the original version if this song has. I don't know what the words "Is This My Vision" mean. Does it mean the past vision or future vision? This song is pretty sleepy & "19" in it's original form of dance is more aggressive & definitive.
It also helped push the Electro genre into the mainstream making it more accessible to people helping to spread the songs message.
It informed me a great deal about the Vietnam war, and made me look further into the atrocities and hardship endured by civilians and soldiers involved in the conflict.
I was 13 years old when '19' was released in 1985, and the song means just as much to me now as it did back then.
I personally think Paul Hardcastle should have been awarded the Nobel peace prize, for his efforts in bringing the Vietnam war to the attention of the general public, and making them think about the conflict with regards to the soldiers and the sacrifice they gave, and the troubles endured by civilians also.
At the time i always thought to myself, 'a conflict like Vietnam could never happen again'
But it seems history has a way of repeating itself.
Thanks for music Paul, just sweet vocals
