Eastern Germany sharing the destiny of the Irish since 20 years - we export our best too. But the Irish will come back once to their native land. It will not happen to us.
This is song is lovely. I'm proud to say I'll be heading to the airport and fly into the fair city in about 5 hours. I can't wait for the day I'll be moving out of the english lands Cambridge where the only thing making it worth so far is the unmatched work experience. Erin go bragh! I love the republic, I love the republicans. Not Irish in the passport, but Irish at heart!
the government should be ashamed of them selves, i said goodbye to my family and friends to go to australia in the morning, my heart is broke, hope im making the right choice, didnt have a choice realy im a 24 year old girl. have fours years done in college fully qualified and not a job to be got. so proud to be irish, ashamed of our government..
I too am an. O'Neill. Tis great sadness that our Father passed away a few months ago..we miss him soooo., This song is a great tribute to the survivors of the famine ships that delivered most of us here
.Please refer to the "scattered seeds of Ireland."always look after yourself and your bro , sis. parents too. Daniel.

I am O'Neill an it hurts my family's heart to not make Erie free . We died trying me boys . I pray we rise agion ! An know matter where ya go Erie is in are blood an no one can take that ! God bless ya all !
this song is forever in my heart, The first time i heard this song i was around 18 (Im 34 now) and there was no work in Ireland. I left for England with a couple of mates to try get work and make a better life.
i spent 12 years in Luton town where i learnt a trade as a carpenter and made some of the best friends ever. i love the English people. i came back to Ireland in 06 and work was good but im out of work 2 and a half years now and when i hear this song it makes me want to emigrate again.
My mother was the first in her family that was born in the US, Grandda and Nana emigrated in 1921. I am and have always considered myself as part of Irish Diaspora and am not a "Plastic Paddie". God bless and keep all the Irish people in the palm of His holy hand.
I do believe that I am eligible for Irish citizenship and an Irish passport due to my grandparents being Irish born. Least that's what I've been told by the Irish tourist board. Besides love for Eire doesn't paperwork!
well it dnt really matter coz in Ireland nobedy really cares!!!lol
on my way thru customs after comin home from a hloiday in America they didnt even luk at my passport and just grunted at me nd said move on!!!lolhahahaha.... gotta love the easy goin Irish!!lol.....
I know about Customs! I won a trip to England in '94, then took a hop to Dublin for a few days. It burned me up that I could not get and Irish customs stamp in my passport. No, they said, we all part of the EU now and you don't need our stamp. I kept saying, but I want the darn thing. Did no good what so ever!
hahahahaha.....yeah thats so annoyin!!!...I went to rome in March with my school and I was lukin forward to getin a new stamp and they didnt given me 1 I was so angry!!!lol..hahahaha American Customs are REALLY over the top!!!!hahaha this summer wen we 1st got ther they wanted to no everthin about us and the people we wer visitin!!!and on the way home my cousin got stoped and searched randomly 3 times from comin in the main door to the plane door (not includin the general security)!!!!lol.....
I'm just happy that there are still people in Ireland who think of us as their brothers and sisters, and not simply "plastic paddys".
There are many in the diaspora who fit in the plastic category, but there are also many of us who carry on the traditions of our forefathers, and take Irish history and culture very seriously.
@blunt1984 i have great respect and time for the Irish living around the globe.
i know how it feels missing Ireland, and more Irish are going to emigrate now than ever before. its quite sad we have to leave the country we love just to try make a better life for us and our loved ones.
@M1L3Y it is very sad mate, i have left an i am living an working in canda. but the irish are going to get a big shock when they go to try an get work in a diff country, because of the way we treated forign workers in our country!
@blunt1984 I love your honesty, there are too many "plastic paddys" who come out when the drink is flowing. My girlfriend made her sons learn St Patricks prayer before she let them go drinking on St Patricks Day. This is a song Ireland has given to the world and anyone who has had to leave home and family to follow work should have it favorited. It doesnt matter if youre a Paddy or not, we all miss those we left behind.
A song for everyone who can't make it home for christmas....you're not forgotten, Brickie , chippy or squaddy all are loved
