  • That joint is nearly as long as his drumsticks!

  • this is the real thing

  • Linda Lewis is still amazing!

  • Love it, love it, love it. 00.28; Alan White seriously bogartin' that joint. 02.25; I think Lee Michaels' on a promise. And what a voice! Try and catch the 'Glastonbury Fayre' DVD, people. Music and life as it could be...

  • Classic gem!

  • thumbs up if Rich Robinson brought you here

  • @jhrobbin DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2 dislikes? PLEASE... please... burn in hell

  • i think that is absolutely magical.thanks for posting.i recorded this off the telly on a cassette about 15 yrs ago but its so much better with th film to watch......However i must disagree about the cool hips, they all look like a bunch of posers trying too hard.why not just be yrself???

  • Good job Wayne Rooney wasn't there

GLASTO. YOU'RE DEAD. NOW PULL THE PLUG ON THAT SHIT.

  • Good job Wayne Rooney wasn't there

GLASTO. YOU'RE DEAD. NOW FUCKING PULL THE PLUG ON THAT SHIT.

  • Ah yes, back in the day when men were hip and the chicks had natural breasts......and they played really good tunes.

  • this is class

  • People, this song shouldn't be about who is born when and what it is or isn't still around anymore. Just be like a sponge and absorb it, for it is greatness.

  • And all these years later, most performers still fail to beat (pun, yes) this. I was in my 30th year then and 'superlungs' was setting a standard. Never courted fame, but deserves more recognition then he seems to have. Usually backed by a great band, few voices have fronted as good as Terry Reid's. Thanks for sharing.

  • With the exception of Jess Roden, undoubtedly the two best UK voices of the late 60s and 70s (and you've got to be really mustard to be in the same league as Jess!)

  • Terry is amazing.

  • it would be so cool if those 4 outstanding musicians would get together for a 40 year reunion of this performance. thankfully they are still with us and producing great music today. now, if they could somehow meet up at the same place time, it would be really cool to hear them do a performance of this song 40 years down the road. Hopefully the young woman is still with us as well. it would be nice to see and hear her again, too.

  • this is proper music

  • That is one fine Blunt Mr. White is puffing there.

  • glad i was born in the 50's to be part of this in its hey day born at the right time thanks God

  • This is cool as hell. Don't think it would of worked with Page. This guy has his own vibe going and Page controlled of Zep. The two guitars may not have worked. Glad it happened the way it did. No one got any bones broken by Arden or Most.

  • no wonder he was Jimmy Page's first choice as singer for his "New Yardbirds" {Led Zeppelin} Can't help but wonder where Robert Plant would've ended up had Terry taken the offer.

  • @fortuenti Paving roads in the black country...

  • 2 dislikes are you taking the piss? Q_Q

  • @Slazfreska stunning performance

  • At the back of the stage you can see Lol Creme and Kevin Godley of what will eventually be 10cc - smoking some herb or other.

    Great times.

  • does a GOOD recording of this set exist anywhere?

  • Linda claims to have been off her head on magic mushrooms and that she had never heard or rehearsed the number before. Pretty impressive performance if true.

  • He's headlining the spirit of 71 stage at Glastonbury this year on the Saturday!

  • @SI0NY Saw him, quite drunk but good as ever, played with broken leg.

  • These are my chosen people. I love you all forever. I am so surprised I missed Terry Reid at the time. Pure genius.

  • Amazing!

Is that David Lindley on Steel?

  • Comment removed

  • @LuccaTotti Yup!!!

  • These were the daze..Free Festivals ....Windsor , Stonehenge....excellent upload*****

  • proper music!! non of this SHIT NUMBTEE RAP CRAP !!, where a come from !!

  • If Terry HAD joined Zeppelin it would have been a definite supergroup vibe. But they would have torn the roof off without question. Robert was great but Terry had something special on his own that would have really brought Zep to another level.

  • I was there just yards from the stage and high. I remember Magic Michael before this. Then Terry Reid, David Lindley and all. It really was fantastic.

  • @mha4351 I was there too,did not want to leave, left part of my heart there

  • back to when drummers smoked weed in public

  • Jimmy Page originally wanted Terry Reid as the singer for Led Zeppelin, before Robert Plant......now we know why!!!!

  • I always thought the guy on the chopper at 5.35 was the coolest dude on the planet. I tried his style but could never carry it off as effortlessly as him.

  • Both hats off to two-hat Tez

  • kinda reminds me of chris robinson

  • It was a stunning and supremely memorable experience to stand just below the stage and listen to these guys. This track of Terry and Linda is a benchmark.

Thanks for posting this up, but a word to all the viewers ... GET THE DVD and listen to it again.

  • @sandehalynch Yes, by all means GET THE DVD...! You won't regret, as there's a bonus there - an alternative ending of this song. Just as good if not better! It's at the very end just before and somewhat overlapping the credits

  • just feelin' the skys ground wind twistin jive

  • this is my favorite video

  • Sorry about that, I accidentally hit the Post button twice

  • I used to visit Terry at his house in Huntingdonshire 1969-1972. He always had superstars of the day dropping by to learn new guitar tricks he'd developed-Stevie Marriot, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, etc. One time I arrived as Steve Stills(of Crosby, Stills and Nash fame) was leaving. Terry had just shown him a new hammer-off technique. Six months later Stills solo album was released. The song "Black Queen" was written completely around that technique. That's Terry-all heart, no ego.

  • what a marvellous voice...right up there with the likes of Jess Roden.

you are so right...they cant play or sing like this anymore....its nearly all mindless crap now.

  • WOW! this is something else i tell ya... wish music was like this today so i could experience it

  • puff puff pass,hell yeah

  • This is an awesome performance by one of the greatest & practically unknown British rock singers. Nice to see Linda's bouncy afro too! Let's hope the film finally gets a DVD release with all the other lost stuff that wasn't in the film. Love the dogs barking at the end. This is just brilliant, thank you for posting it...and that lap slide is amazing. Too cool, man

  • There are many performances over the years I wish were soundboard recorded. This is one of them! Magical!

  • this 1970 or else why beatles @ 3:45 with wives and paul dog martha leading in front?

  • Great performance and great atmosphere of late 60's early 70s hippiedom brit-style. It looks like Alan White on drums who played with Plastic Ono Band and later Yes. Anybody know who else is in the band ?

  • HEY RODZ. ! knew ued watch this, AMAZINS, am still pishhhhed

  • TERRRY IS STILL DOIN THE REAL!!

  • Fantastic!!! What a soulful performance! What a great portrait of a bygone era!

  • i am fucking mind blown at his vocals omfg!!!!! so unappreciated God bless Terry Reid you are a fucking legend!

  • @livesforthemusic609 He is not unappreciated. We are the anointed, we know we have been touch by a God.

  • @livesforthemusic609 He is not unappreciated. We are the anointed, we know we have been touch by a God.

  • My God..... !! ...this is some great shit my brother or sister in spirit{:> Thanks for sharing this positive get up and shake my shit tune!! You Rock!

  • strange to think this lot smokin bifta's are now granparents and maybe great granparents, the kids today at festivals take note grannie and grandad were cool hips once, they havent always looked old like now,,respect to the originals who started the scene ,god bless ya!!! ps the music stands the test of time

  • Wow, I would quite happily be 10 years older now, if it meant I could have been at Glastonbury 1971 :( The line-up was incredible. Terry Reid, Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come, Family, Traffic, Gong, Fairport Convention... the list goes on! This man should have been an enormous success, what a terrible shame he was'nt. Wonderful song.

  • I'll have one of what he's having.

    Fu-kin-e-MAE-ZIN!

  • Dubious hat, but very deeply groovy indeed .... girl in lilac sweater digs it, so do I.

  • I would have married Terry Reid back in 1969. He is superlungs and his guitar like no other at that time. I was told he got stuck in the city and couldn't get to Woodstock to play with Jonie Mitchell. HE WAS STILL MY WODDSTOCK.

  • Never mind the drummer - listen to that pedal steel guitar! I've been into Terry Reid since I first got my hands on an old copy of the Mickie Most produced album which was out on Music For Pleasure! Superlungs - Silver White Light - July - Mayfly - Stay With Me etc .... it's also now available on cd by BGO which I picked up too. If you haven't got it - you haven't got a cd collection.

  • Great footage!

  • Damn right he is the KING. His playing is sick!!!

  • mega spliffs these lads are grandads now,the kids today think they are rebels !

  • Terry Fucking Reid. that man is the shit.

  • who dislikes this? must be robert plant and ian gillan... jealous fuckers.

  • This is fucking fantastic stuff.

  • I'm only 2 minutes in and I have to say WOW. Terry Reid's voice is transcendental. The whole band kicks ass. The people are so fun to watch. I'm not from that era, but I sure feel like it.

  • Yeah, folks do it like this now. the drummer is fucking unreal - who is he?!

  • @socrates1818

The drummer is alan white............ went on to join Yes.

  • Just sublime - and David Lindley superb on lap steel guitar (still as good last night at Cornbury Festival playing with Jackson Browne)... John

  • awesome! thanks for posting

  • Has a Humble pie Sound, Loved them! Boy can definitely sing! Like a male janis.lol. But way better! Just like Marriott. Heard Terry's song on that movie, Wonderland for about 10 unclear seconds & was like damn! gonna find out who that is! They should have a re edited version, With 10 clear seconds!

  • Is it possible that we cannot find this lyric on the internet?

  • Zeppelin's first choice b4 Robert Plant - he turned it down - this is amazing - still at school - love this generation but they broke their promise to change the world

  • I love this .... as cool as it gets ... and i was there (I think).

  • @dregroyx me too daxi

  • Great song, I can now see where The Black Crowes got their influence from.

  • that drummer was tokin like it was his last smoke! LOVE IT!

  • @tropicalpimp thats.alan white later of yes!! big biffta..old skool

  • Cookin stuff. I was totally unaware.

  • Amazing footage! Especially the guy at 8:40 !

    Amazing song!

  • So good! Very groovy, especially when the female singer comes in!

  • Terry Reid was so talented. Great bit of film from the days when Glastonbury was a fringe festival.

  • wow they used to have good weather in those days.we used to blame margret thatcher for the rain she would do anything to stop a good festival. by the way global warming includes rainy summers so dont get exited

  • The bass player on this video is Lee Miles, the awesome bassist for many Motown bands when they went on tour and probably most famous for backing up Ike and Tina Turner. The slide player is Dave Lindley, of Jackson Browne fame and El Rayo X solo albums. The female singer that joins them on this song is Linda Lewis, the UK's answer to Minnie Riperton, and Cat Steven's ex-squeeze..

  • This was made for "idiot dancing", I'm worn out and too old now. lol

  • somebody has this lyrics? ive been looking for it like crazy and just can't find!

  • Alan white from yes on drums and is that Lol Creme from10cc having a toke with the roadies?

  • Good catch, spotting Lol.

  • Terry has been a musical hero of mine for years, but this video puts him in godlike status now. :)

  • Even though I live in the States, seeing Terry perform is definitely on my "bucket list".

  • @krankbomb You live in the States? So does Terry. He plays gigs (unfortunately unfrequent) in LA and NYC and occasionally elsewhere, so you probly have a chance.

  • he s still singing? :) and how old is he now? have you had the chance to listen to him? has his voice changed a lot? I wish someone spott him life in a gig, use the phone and put it after on youtube for the rest of us :)

  • BOW DOWN~ IT'S TERRY REID!!!! I have this on DVD...amazing

  • I,ve just bought a Terry Reid album and I thought I'd look him up on youtube. He's great, like everyone says, what a voice. now we know where Chris Robinson copped his vocal style from ;-)

  • I'd trade all of the iPhones in the world to be able to go back in time and enjoy this live :(

  • Indeed... I shoulda been born in the mid fifties to enjoy this music and much more... but No, Im an 85 baby

  • TERRY YOU'RE THE KING!

  • this guy is incredible-great voice/playing amazing Ive never heard of him till I sourced Cheap tricks cover of one of his tunes-Hes got a voice on a par with Zander but with a much 'funkier-bluesy' style-

This is really good! Thanks for posting

  • Still the best live performance I've seen. Was there at Glast ' in '71. As "bomber" says, the best of times

F*** knows what the kids have got now.

After this we all pissed off to St Ives for the rest of the summer - sea and surf.

    Different times.

  • lovin that drum groove.....and terrys voice is amazing

  • nobody does it like this anymore

  • @ukenasia yes, they do. You just might need to get out a bit more...or move to a big city.

  • @ukenasia what a marvellous voice...right up there with the likes of Jess Roden.

you are so right...they cant play or sing like this anymore....its nearly all mindless crap now.

  • @ukenasia As the English would say, "bloody hell!" I accidently put a thumbs down on this. Sorry UK.

  • @ukenasia Thank the lord. Bloody hippies!!

  • incredible sound, terry should have been bigger than led zep

  • I saw Terry Reid many times back in the day at the Roundhouse on a Sunday - such fun times. He was amazing live - earth and raunchy with this richly vibrant voice.....and gorgeous toboot - shame he's aged....

so glad I've got my Dorian Gray portrait....Hahahah!

  • also, mister David Lindley on slide guitar ......what a jam !...!!

  • magic , magic ... magic ...

i bought the box with cds and dvd of this 1971 Glastonbury Fayre , really interesting , and good surprise like this !

There are also Family and Traffic in the dvd ..Sounds and images not so good but very natural

free music , by free people , for free people ..

    ( i am a dreamer but i am not the only ..etc ..etc .. ) .

  • real music absolute quality, the x factor people should watch and learn

  • He was the pick for Jimmy Page when they were trying to form a new band, but he was already signed with another contract. Terry told them about Robert Plant and the rest is history.

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!

This is what we called MUSIC!!!!!

  • His voice is like... I dont know... Brilliant is not a word good enough for this...

  • i love glasto !!!!!!!!

  • At 2:05 young Vladimir Putin rather chilled.

  • Damn Naked Hippies!

  • The drummer has barely finished toking when he just drops straight in on the beat like he's been playing it for the last 5 minutes. Awesome. Why o why are there so few musicians this tight anymore? Not the right spliff mix? : )

  • You know the drummer in the video is Phil Collins?

  • Phil Collins couldn't even watch something this good, let alone get anywhere playing it. His names Alan White and not the Oasis one.

  • @Tomitrouble don't be stupid

  • He has to be the most underrated entertainer of all time. Seriously, his voice can slay just about anybody's, and CAN slay anybody's from the last 10 or 20 years. He should be one of those dudes that has the status of Elton John or Michael Jackson, because he can sing with the best of them.

  • nice one! not seen this for years!

  • wow when the music at Glastonbury was real MUSIC not lily fuckin allen! This reminds me of Black crowes.

  • hahahh check out that spliff

  • AMAZING i love his voice AMAZING

  • just.. WOW

  • quality stunning performance

  • jesus! what great footage! and David Lindley on the lap steel who of course went on to be a huge part of the Jackson Browne sound....

  • That would be a very young Phil Collins at the Drums!!! Awesome!!!

  • ...you mean Alan White? ;-)

  • Errrr NO it is not ... !!!

  • @dmholmes1 Don't be silly.

  • Great people are getting on to this now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watch The Old Grey Whistle Test, Beat Club, Rockpalast etc. Great stuff. Ive got a few bits and bobs on my vids...Peace.

  • Love it love it love it

  • My favourite TR song, It isn't just the voice it's the rhythmn nobody gets that unique feel from a guitar. he's playing the montague club Huntingdon on 28th august - new line up - Lee is on Bail Bond duty but they have an excellent new drummer

  • Amazing voice. 'Nuff said. Time to go blast Superlungs.

  • you can see where the black crowes take their inspiration from. terry is THE voice. it doesnt get much better than this unless its steve marriot of course. this is the perfect marriage of black and white music.

  • Hi people! This version is amazing. On studio record the drums dosnt realy groove. I love this song in this version. And how wonderful relaxed the guys are! Great times, great music!

I got a big request. Im not a native speaker, and I dont understend every word of what Terry is singing. Can somebody write the lyric down and post it here. I couldnt find anything on google. It would be great!!!

Thanks a lot, and big greetings from Germany.

  • David Lindley on lap slide guitar ~ this was an impeccable song performed by Terry Reid and David Lindley~ a real pair of dice. Bravo!

  • David Lindley on slide....

    impeccable...

  • just superb

  • gr8 number and performance. i believe tery was @ glasto 09 in the park, and also @ glasto in 07 or 08.

  • think the guy at 2.10 struggles to retain his stomach contents after the draw...

Have loved this for many years now....just for the record Glastonbury is now nothing but a commercial rip off...imagine how much they could charge for Stonehenge

  • Yea Both MY pops and Terry are doing good. I think the last gig was about 8 months or so. Lee Miles (pops) is in excellent health. He just celebrated his 60th birthday in may and is doing more than great. He checks in on Terry at least once a week. Thanks for the comment.

  • Great! Best news I've heard in a while, thanks! *I wished they still played together* I'd love to see your dad in a live gig, he's got some class for sure.

  • You should send me an email address so that I can foward his messages directly to you

  • Thats awesome. Where does he live now? I think he is also in the terry Reid video: Terry reid - Rich Kid Blues

  • you should send me an email address so that I can foward my dad's messages directly to you

  • ay that's my dad on bass!

  • If thats really your dad, he's the coolest guy on stage.

  • yea thats him dude. ay i found another clip of him on youtube called ike and tina turner flashback. check it out.

  • Check out also other Terry Reid videos posted by yxan - Superlungs, Highway 61 and Rich Kid Blues. You'll see him there as well. (I know you've seen Live Life already) A brilliant musician, deep respect.

  • OMG! I just caught a glips of my pops (black guy on bass). GO POPS!

  • oh that puts the song in a whole different light....it's still a great song!!!.........but after watching the film "Groupies"....i got the impressionTerry could quite easily have been writing about a guy!?!?...still love him though!

  • If you saw the film then you saw Jenny Dean. She's in the very beginning riding in the car with Emmaretta Marks (yes, Deep Purple's song Emmaretta is about her) But I honestly don't know if that girl in the film is the same Jenny Dean as Terry's girlfriend who inspired the song, or maybe just a namesake. The fact that her and Terry are in the same film is kind of suspicious.
