I know through a friend who got knocked off his bike and had his back put out that if you don't have a provisional license and no insurance and drive, there are no legalities to charge you with as you haven't consented to them - however there are small laws meaning you will get fined a couple hundred for hurting something. One of the reasons insurance is so expensive is that they have to keep back a percentage to cover these people in this situation. Insurance is far too expensive though...

if a person doesn't have insurance because they are banned for dangerous driving, that's reasonable, there's also a risk that if they can't afford it, the vehicle might not be properly maintained. but this should all be taken into account before a prosecution is brought about. it's not fair to assume anything really.

Uninsured motorists ARE statistically more dangerous! If the person is struggling with money their car is more likely to be badly maintained, more likely to have illegal tyres and no MOT. Uninsured motorists are more likely to be male - ergo, more likely to be involved in fatal accidents than females.

Danny. I think you are the first person that I have ever came across, that thinks uninsured drivers are NOT a danger! As you know if you do not have motor insurance, it is ILLEGAL for your car to be on the road and therefore it should not be on the road in the first place. If an uninsured driver was to hit a pedestrian with there car and subsequently kill them, would you consider them dangerous even though you know that the driver should not have been on the road in the first place ?

It's about time more countries around the world followed the example of South Africa, not sure if any other countries also do this but basically 3rd party insurance is paid when you put petrol in your car ie. a percentage of fuel sales goes to the Road Accident Fund and in most cases you don't need insurance if you don't want it altho it is highly advisable. With the high level of crime there they don't have the resources to check if drivers are insured or not. And you pay for what you use!!

Motorists who don't have insurance are very often breaking the law regarding other things, it is this fact which make the police "waste time" doing these checks, it isn't only about court fines.

@Guthix8x No there's not because someone other than the registered keeper could be driving and have insurance to drive any vehicle, so unless they physically stop the person and catch them in the act, nothing can be done. They can catch people out for not paying car tax with a camera, because they know its not taxed and then they just send a fine to the registered keeper, but not for insurance, or driving while disqualified.
Criminals and known dangerous drivers/people with alot of traffic violations will usualy find it hard to get cover or have their cover dropped. Two reasons why uninsured drivers can be considered more dangerous than insured drivers.

I know through a friend who got knocked off his bike and had his back put out that if you don't have a provisional license and no insurance and drive, there are no legalities to charge you with as you haven't consented to them - however there are small laws meaning you will get fined a couple hundred for hurting something. One of the reasons insurance is so expensive is that they have to keep back a percentage to cover these people in this situation. Insurance is far too expensive though...

Private Doctors/staff working in your private clinic will have spent many years in an NHS hospital training/gaining experience. (up to 72 hours for remand). No, it doesn't. Taking into account the amount of money it takes to maintain enforcement operations, the police make less than nothing.

if a person doesn't have insurance because they are banned for dangerous driving, that's reasonable, there's also a risk that if they can't afford it, the vehicle might not be properly maintained. but this should all be taken into account before a prosecution is brought about. it's not fair to assume anything really.

I Used to do what you do (without camera) - usually ended up in a cell, then a screaming judge a few weeks later. try it with a brown face.
ive been stopped hundreds of times, and paid over £20,000 in fines for my criminal activity including no seatbelt, spare wheel on car, saying 'what the fuck', ive even had to pay the same fines twice on quite a few occasions.

My point was that there may be reasons for a person not having insurance, which are related to previous instances of dangerous driving, however, they may have no insurance and be a safe driver. Uninsured motorists ARE statistically more dangerous! If the person is struggling with money their car is more likely to be badly maintained, more likely to have illegal tyres and no MOT. Uninsured motorists are more likely to be male - ergo, more likely to be involved in fatal accidents than females.
I don't agree with the policy implementation but the argument made in its defence is legitimate.

It seems that most of the negative an abusive comments are from people that have missed the point.
I don't think that Danny is saying it us ok to drive without insurance. I think he is bringing to attention that the "machine" is geared towards money making rather than providing safety to the people.

Danny. I think you are the first person that I have ever came across, that thinks uninsured drivers are NOT a danger! As you know if you do not have motor insurance, it is ILLEGAL for your car to be on the road and therefore it should not be on the road in the first place. If an uninsured driver was to hit a pedestrian with there car and subsequently kill them, would you consider them dangerous even though you know that the driver should not have been on the road in the first place ?

It's about time more countries around the world followed the example of South Africa, not sure if any other countries also do this but basically 3rd party insurance is paid when you put petrol in your car ie. a percentage of fuel sales goes to the Road Accident Fund and in most cases you don't need insurance if you don't want it altho it is highly advisable. With the high level of crime there they don't have the resources to check if drivers are insured or not. And you pay for what you use!!

Motorists who don't have insurance are very often breaking the law regarding other things, it is this fact which make the police "waste time" doing these checks, it isn't only about court fines.
You need to be a bit more professional in your manner, seem a bit pushy and rude at certain parts, you are acting in exactly the same way many police do when I'm sure you are trying to portray the opposite.
Don't get me wrong, I love what you are doing, but you have to be virtuous for it to work for us

Let's say 10 police at each check point, and they catch one guy defaulting on his insurance, which obviously has to go through court. How is this making money for the state? Surely, it is costing the state more.

Danny, I like a lot of your stuff, especially the ones where you talk to police and question whether you are obliged to to them things or whether it is just a request that you can decline, I get that type of stuff, however, I don't understand why you are against getting people who don't have insurance, or are disqualified from driving off our roads.
If someone crashed into me and didnt have insurance then that would be really bad for me, maybe we all shouldnt have insurance and let chaos ensue.

@Guthix8x No there's not because someone other than the registered keeper could be driving and have insurance to drive any vehicle, so unless they physically stop the person and catch them in the act, nothing can be done. They can catch people out for not paying car tax with a camera, because they know its not taxed and then they just send a fine to the registered keeper, but not for insurance, or driving while disqualified.

Criminals and known dangerous drivers/people with alot of traffic violations will usualy find it hard to get cover or have their cover dropped. Two reasons why uninsured drivers can be considered more dangerous than insured drivers.
This has probably been said but I can't be bothered to check back through all these comments!
