  • Baxter brought comfort to more people than most of us ever will. And he never judged them--he just gave of himself. If only we could strive to be more like him.

  • I know that Baxter is running in a meadow in heaven visiting with those people he touched as they eased from this life. This brought tears to my eyes. What an angel he was and is now.

  • I know I'm posting this a bit late but what a wonderful dog (and beautiful video)!!!. I can't believe he lived to be 19 years old. I noticed 2 people disliked this video, how can that be? to me nothing about Baxter being a therapy dogs was cruel or anything like that. I think he had a wonderful job (and I'm sure he did as well). There must be a reason God (Yes, I said GOD!!!) wanted Baxter to live so long!!! Dogs are wonderful animals!!! God bless Baxter and his owner, Melissa Joseph.

    JPR

  • an angel who will never be forgotten.I am in tears for what he done.R.I.P Baxter and many prayers for your family

  • Thank you for sharing....how are you doing now? Do you have a new rescue?

  • What a wonderful boy!

  • Wonderful... Love from Italy. Maria

  • Baxter is an angel!!!! I believe that dogs can sense a person's illness and as a nurse , I have seen a difference in patients when a dog is brought in to the nursing home/ rehab center where I work. Patients smile and reach for the dog. It lowers bloodpressure and for dementia /Alzheimer's patients,to see them "remember" life before thier illness is incredible. I recommend this therapy for any long term or hospice facility. A smile, memory, or just the love between the patient and dog!

  • Baxter was a gift from God. He lived almost 20 years! I think God kept him on Earth a little longer bcz he helped make it easier for people pass on. Bless his heart! Great video!

  • WHO EVER THE TWO WHO DISLIKED THIS VIDEO WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. Very good video rip baxter

  • @ptywrx That was EXACTLY what I was thinking about those two people! If you have ANY kind of heart, you're going to melt watching this video. I'm still crying while I write this comment-lol. Simply BEAUTIFUL, simply LOVE, simply BAXTER! THANK YOU, and R.I.P. awesome boy. <3

  • As the owner of a Therapy Dog, Megan, I know what it means to watch the interaction with the folks in long term care centres and end of life units. I am often reduced to tears at the difference these AMAZING four legged, do for us two legged . What an incredible gift and honour it is to be the guardian of one of the beautiful spirits . Dennisbussey, you will always feel his spirit with you, as you are part of him and he is part of you. Big hug to you and Thank you. .

  • Thank you for doing what you did with Baxter for so many many people. Thank you Baxter. Sharing far and wide so people can see just how many lives you touched. You both are amazing and strong. Rest well, Baxter, you did your job very well. The tag around your neck describing your job was perfect. And you did your job perfectly. <3

  • He looked like a big teddy bear :) Bless his soul. R.I.P old boy x

  • i am in tears. He was a beautiful dog and moments with baxter made me cry

Rest in peace Baxter fly easy

  • What an incredible tribute to a beautiful dog. Dennisrbussey, you state you have not process not having him in your life. He will always be in your life, not physically but in your heart and in your memories. I am sure his life will be remembered by all the people he has touched. Thank you so much for the beautiful video of your baby, Baxter.

  • long live Baxter.

  • What a beautiful story and animal. He was truly a gift from God, and has earned a special place in Heaven. Thank you for sharing him with the world, and HUGE "thank you" to Baxter.

  • how did baxter lose the use of his legs? was it just from old age?

  • Wow, I am very emotional right now. This dog did so much for others, powerful stuff right here... thanks for sharing.

  • This is a most beautiful tribute, He was a blessing to many. God Bless You, His owner for making Him what He became and giving Him a rewarding and filled life. There are no words to express the sadness and loss of an animal You Love. I know I have lost a couple I never thought I would make it without. But It helps to know You gave them a life worth living filled with love and shared that love with mankind in their last moments of life, brought them love.

  • As Will Rogers said "If dogs don't go to heaven, then I want to go where they do."

Hope I see you there Baxter.

  • Oh Baxter what a gift you were. I am a therapy handler and can only hope to accomplish and touch lives that Baxter had. Thank you Baxter to sharing your story and helping us all to continue this wonderful program.

  • Grown man in tears.... nuff said

  • @tallboyandy23 right there with you. powerful!

  • Aw... thank you so so much for sharing this w/us... :)

  • what a beautiful soul - indeed an old soul! Absolutely moving and beautiful

  • ;):):)

  • Thank you for the time you gave us Baxter.

  • It is interesting how many comments are removed from this video. What a horrible person his owner is for letting him to continue to suffer as long as she did. This dog was not living a dogs life, he looks absolutly miserable in most of these pictures, and should have went to doggy heaven long before he did. Shame on his owner for keeping him alive for as long as she did. Humane euthanasia is a wonderful thing, that we can end our furry friends suffering. I'm sure baxter was a wonderful dog

  • I cried like a baby watching this.. what a treasure he was and what a blessing to so many who needed him in the end. May he and they rest in peace.

  • my heart is broken for the loss of this dear, precious one....but he indeed is in a good place....yes, i believe precious creatures like Baxter are sent here on a mission...and are very much angels unawares.....

what song is that in the background?

    God bless you!

  • GOD worked with Baxter!

  • An amazing dog...i dont think its any co-incidence that DOG is GOD backwards. Baxter was certainly an angel....

  • i think that is one of the greatest dogs ever. i got lots of them but i think that if i where the owner of that dog would be like thousands of dogs in one and i mean dog´s love. baxter must be on heaven because he deserves to be there

  • I am still thinking about Baxter, Dennis, as his teddy bear face speaks to me every day, several times a day, as his book is on my coffee table. I am so thankful that he will live forever in my heart because you wrote the book and I have so many pictures of him. He meant so much to me even thought I only met him twice. But is was so special to be at his 19th Birthday party. How fun was that at the doggie bakery. So much fun and very good biscuits, woof, woof. All the best to you and Melissa.

  • @calhicondor i wish i could have met him.. im not sick but it would still bring joy to anybody to meet him =) RIP

  • @calhicondor do u know what type of dog baxter is

  • Hi there, where can I find the memorial service video please?

  • I just finished reading your book.Baxter was such a loving and special dog. The joy he brought to so many people, shall now be his in heaven. He gave so much of himself and asked for so little in return. May God Bless you for all your kind deeds. • Baxter is Jesus's dog now. He is in Heaven chasing rainbows!

  • when i saw this video with baxter in it i was in tears

a wounderful dog to give comfort to these people in hospital

    at a time of sadness

R.I.P BAXTER YOU HAVE BROUGH JOY TO EVERY ONE

  • beautiful

  • Everything about this video leads me to this conclusion: we are all one in Love. This Love is our creator, our comforter, our preserver, our mission, and our life. Thank you for being such a pure and perfect representative of Love, Baxter.

  • Our dog was a therapy dog also -- and also passed away around Labor Day at the age of 15. This brought tears to my eyes, as I remembered our beloved Mandy and how she brought joy to so many.

  • What a beautiful dog and a beautiful story. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • He's gorgeous! He looks like a cuddly toy dog. Beautiful soul!

  • Baxter you were a selfless dog as most dogs are. You touched and reassured many facing their mortality oon thei earth. I now you were God sent and thank you so much. We lost our 4 yo yorkie on the 27th of December. We ask that you comfort him until we join him. His name is "Corky" and we'll love you always!

  • RIP Baxter. More respect to you then most people.

  • RIP Baxter hope will make you alive again you great therapy dog hope your alive again, rest in peace!

  • You & Baxter are a gift not measured in "TIME"... Measure is in the giving of your spirits, your hearts. You have provided the most tender & precious gift of humanity available to offer. If it matters, know an old USMC Combat Veteran is in tears. But the kind a person is blessed with only if seeing & BELIEVING once again, that miracles do indeed exist. You & Baxter are the two I know of...Your story is a gift to me as well. It will live in me forever. THANK YOU,

    Mike

  • RIP Baxter </3

  • Baxter, a true Angel you are! You have earned your rightful wings in heaven and I know all those that you helped on this side and beyond are thankful for your unconditional love! I hope to see you one day and thank you!

  • i wish i had the honor of meeting baxter. i am so sorry for your loss.

  • I love you Baxter Bussey. I will see you in Heaven.

    Love, Fawnie

  • This is such a moving story...what a great Spirit! Good Journies, Baxter...all love surround you and guide you.

What is the name of the song in this video?

  • @Taillta I don't know the name of the song, but it sounds like Celtic Woman, if that helps narrow it down at all. Or I could be wrong...lol At any rate, what a beautiful song, & what an amazingly beautiful animal!

  • ~The only joy your dog will have is knowing you are near~ ~they neither lack false sense of pride or harbor any fear~ ~so love this animal strongly in your heart and hold him near and dear~ ~for the day will come you'll turn around and he will not be here~ Author: myself

  • Wow

    What a sweet sweet soul.

    Fred

  • Of course Baxter goes to heaven. He is such a good dog! So much better that many people!!!

  • Truly a lovely soul...thank you.

  • R.I.P Baxter :'(

  • Thank you Baxter for showing your unconditional love for all. Cora is following your trail in the pack of therapy dogs "heeling to heal" with Divine Canines here in Austin. I am sure you are greeting everyone at the "pearly gates" now. God Bless you Melissa for sharing Baxter with us.

  • Rest in peace. You made a wonderful job on this world!

  • Thank you Baxter you made the world a better place

    Peace Always

  • Incredible. The video is profoundly touching. Can I ask what artist performed the accompanying sound track? What the title of the song is? Thank you so much for sharing Baxter with so many people, touching so many lives.

  • I met Baxter at the swimming pool, where

my dog Cody was also undergoing water therapy. This is a very beautiful tribute to

a very special dog. You just had to be around him and Melissa for a moment to

    feel the love between them.

  • Thank you for this thoughtful observation. I really never

thought about how "we" looked together. I was so focued

on Baxter and what I could do to continue giving him the

optimal quality of life. He did that for me.

  • I have lived with dogs all my life and they have given me my sanity, Baxter and my Bobby 1 and 2 and beni and Richard and now Daisy and Misha were and are lifesavers. No human could give me the solace and peace the way these dogs have, I owe them my life forever.

  • LIke you, I invested my whole being in Baxter. And, he

did the same for me. We were an inseparable unit, but

each of had the ability to bond with others, let go, and

create other meaningful relationships. Ultimately, though,

    we knew where we belonged-together.

  • As a Hospice nurse and an nimale lover, ths has truely touched my heart! Thank you Melissa for the work you do and for sharing Baxter's love to so many in need of that special touch. Please continue with your wonderful gift of giving this love to the hospice patients/families. There will never be another Baxter, but I'm sure you can find another partner to carry on this wonderful love.

  • It is my objective, though I don't know when and how, I will

have another companion. I can't look for another Baxter.

Enough time must pass where I will be able to fall in love

and not compare. Baxter was incomparable so why would

I compare? Thank you for your beautiful comments.

  • What is the name of this song and artist? It is beautiful

  • It's from Bliss, "Say Goodbye"

  • Baxter will always live in our hearts. Thanks for sharing the good memories with us. Thank you and please take care.

  • I do wonder what time will do to these memories. Right now

they are so fresh, as if I can reach out and feel Baxter. I

think I haven't fully processed the devastation of not having

    him in my life.

  • @dennisrbussey my heart is so full at this moment - thank you for sharing Baxter with all of us. His soul is soaring now, healing everyone. Amy Col. Potter Cairn Rescue Network cairn rescue.com

  • I was so touched by Baxter because I have a leg injury and im still have difficulties to walk without pain. To see the wonderful work that Baxter was doing make me more realize my important work that im doing to help childrens in needs and all the people that are suffering just like me... Rest in peace great angel of love Baxter.

  • If we can get out of our pain and do for others our lives

will be better. I have some very serious injuries and I

struggle w/chronic pain. Baxter was indeed the inspiration

behind my putting all that aside and making a difference in

the lives of others. Too much with self can be very destructive.

  • Yes...... sometimes I spend to much time in front of the computer alone and I feel discourage and depressive...

  • Melissa thank you and Baxter for sharing your love with the world.....RIP Baxter....peace & luv

  • What a guy! As the owner of three therapy dogs I know what a difference they can make - Baxter obviously was made for "visits". Thank you for sharing him with his patients and the world. Run free, Baxter, run free - and know your are remembered with love.

  • Yes, he was made for love and it was his specialty. His

favorite spot was up close and personal. He was a one on

one kind of guy. Faithful and focused.

  • What a truly amazing animal!! Thanks Baxter for your love and service! You will be missed!! RIP ♥♥

  • I was so touched by this. I think dogs really have healing powers. ((((: Amazing video of a canine hero :D

  • The video was amazing because Baxter was a true hero.

He had a love that I've never before experienced. He was

a treasure and I tried w/everything w/in me to love him

back each and every moment of his life. And, even now,

writing back to you, in an odd way, I'm still trying to love him

    back. Melissa, Baxter's mom

  • if only all humans could comfort and love lik a dog. unconditional unquestioning. undiying. God bless this creature's sole and all of those around him! If only man could go to dogs' heaven. . . or mayeb we already join one another in gods kingdome! God bless you all god bless Baxter and finally god bless the loving and compassionate for they will have a special place in god's kingdome!!!!!! GOD BLESS THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN MAN AND DOG!!!
  • Pity the fool who has never looked into the eyes of an animal and felt love and compassion.

Thank you for your service Baxter. Your heart and soul is blessed for all eternity for the work you did here on earth. ((♥))

  • What an adorable animal....an inspirational story. If those who don't appreciate their pets would give an ounce of the love that Baxter got, they could find a whole wonderful being in their furry or feathered companion. Please be good to your animal. They could reward you more than you ever know, just like Baxter did.

  • There is nothing Greater then to have the Love of a Dog.. I was fortunate to have that love and I learned how to love again..thank you My sweet DJ..

Baxter you have proven that love to so many, May you Run Free again as You Once did. Someday I hope Im fortunate to meet you

When I cross over.. R.I.P. Sweet Baxter. Run Free

  • Dennis, thank you so much for putting this tribute up. It helps me in my sadness. I cried the fourth time I saw it because of the two times I spent with Baxter and how much he meant to me. He radiated so much love and welcomed everyone. The song that you picked was so sweet. Thank you Melissa for writing this book about the best therapy dog in the world and the most photographic with his bear like ears. He was a wonder to look at his face.

  • Baxter was a treasure and a gift to so many. And, now, after

he's gone, he has become the common denominator between

Dennis, me and so many others. He creates connections of

the heart. Thank you for your special, compassionate comments. You know from first hand experience about my little guy.

  • My god...

    that blessed creatue was yours!!!!?

God has blessed many but in my eyes you must have a heart of gold to have had been so close to this AMAISING dog!

may your days be filled with happieness and love from my heart to yours!

  • What a beautiful and inspiring old soul Baxter is/was. Would be great if someone posted lyrics to beautiful song accompanying video. Thanks for this!

  • Goodbye we all will miss you. See you in Heaven someday.

  • Just an awesome video. When my husband was so ill in the hospital, and they put in in rehab, he was very depressed. I asked the nurses if I could bring in our little dogs to cheer him up, and it was the best medicine he could have had. They were as glad to see him as he was to see them. No one knows what good therapy this is for someone who is sick. Baxter was very special, (as was his owner.) RIP Baxter

  • Dogs are a connection like none else. The non-speaking

creature who comes with relentless love speaks more than

most who come w/voice and no love. It's amazing

  • whats this song called?

  • It's from the UK group, Bliss...."Say Goodbye"

    the cd/1000 Angels

  • Sorry for my critical remark:

    Has Baxter been misused?

We know that animals sort of take over diseases feelings etc. from people.

So the animals should only been used for healing in little intervals.

I have not so much background information, but I have the impression as I stated above.

I would be grateful for your answer as to how long, how often he used to do this job. Thank you

  • RIP Baxter! You helped so many and will be missed

  • Rest in Peace Baxter

Thank you for all of your unconditional love! You will be missed...

  • I feel sorry for anyone who has not known the unconditional love from their dog. I truly believe they are an extension of God's unconditional love for us. My dogs have carried me through many difficulties. I truly hope God has a special place for them. If people loved each other the way their dogs do, we would have peace on earth. I mourn the loss of Baxter, one of God's four-legged angels.

  • Yeah, I believe so too. Hence He created Dog, which is probably a reflection of God :) Both of them loves us all despite our faults (:

  • What a beautiful soul Baxter had. Bless you for rescuing him and sharing him with others. He is young again and running with ageless joy. RIP Baxter and thank you.

  • RIP Baxter

  • Sadly I read Dr.Pia's post that Baxter passed. I must say my heart aches for the loss of Baxter, but also fills with Joy just knowing he brought so much Peace, Happiness & Fulfillment to others in time of need... I believe God places animals in our lives for a purpose and certainly Baxter served a purpose for many...he surly will be missed. I pray for the owners hearts to heal and THANK them for bringing Baxter into the lives of those that needed comfort...and into my life!

  • Baxter was 'Heaven sent'. A true angel dog on earth!

Prayers to St. Francis (patron of animals).

    God Bless+

  • My condolences. May God rest his soul in peace.

  • Left Over...

Ur One sick Demented fuk.....sitting all alone in ur shitty apt....surfing kiddy porn...

p.s. One of Baxters turds has far more value than you you "sick fuk loser"..drop dead

  • People who are rude and send out hate do so because they desperately want to be loved....what goes around comes around my friend. Hard to believe you're 32 (based on your profile).

  • I become friends with Baxter with his last video. I know that he will have a LOT of friends at the Rainbow Bridge. His life gave so much of himself fot the help of his human companions. Bless him for all he gave. He is no longer in pain, he is young and healthy again and just waiting for his owner to collect him when she passes through the Rainbow Bridge. He will be there to say hello to all that he helped before he passed, when they pass.

  • Oddly enough, posthumously, Baxter's fan club has grown

to an international cast of warm, fuzzy humans. That, in and

of itself, is an amazing story for me. I recognize that his

powers are felt even though he's not present. His works

have a life of their own. Melissa, Baxie's mom

  • What a beautiful tribute to Baxter! Thank you.

And would you post the name of the song and singer?

  • songs name is

    bliss - goodbye

  • My condolences to Baxter's family, he is adorable. I have no doubt he is still helping patients on the other side.

  • I hope that sweet little guy went quietly and peacefully. I lost my best friend over a year ago @ 14 years of age. I know Baxter's owner is grieving now. Prayers to her. What a wonderful person she is. No one will ever forget that sweet dog. If there is a dog heaven, he is in it.

  • I believe in this life, what goes round, comes round....Baxter gave love and comfort, and in return, received love. I have 3 dogs that would love nothing more than to have hugs all day long. I am sure there are dogs lining up to follow in Baxter's footsteps!

  • I wish more human beings will be able to give the comfort, the pity, joy and happiness Baxter brought to many at the end of their lives.

God bless the all the people who made this possible. You certainly are with God.

  • What a wonderful tribute for a wonderful dog.

  • Great video!!!

  • I couldn't stop crying during this video.

What a great and deserving tribute.

  • You rock Baxter!!! This dog did more good during his life than most ppl do in their whole lifetime.

  • he looks like a little bear!aww poor baxter

  • i am sorry for your loss and obviously he is lost to many people. he must have been a wonderfull dog.

  • What a beautiful Spirit who blessed those preparing for their transition. Baxter is a gentle soothing pure Light, you will be missed.

  • After seeing in the description of this video that Baxter recently passed away, I started bawling before I even watched the video. I don't know how I made it through the tribute, though...I could barely see the screen through my tears. What a beautiful, beautiful thing Baxter and his owner did for so many others. The smiles on the faces of the people he touched will stay with me forever. God bless you and the work you do. RIP Baxter; you are terribly missed.

  • You need to watch the memorial service video. It will

ignite your core, open your heart, and fall madly in love

with Baxter, the epitome of universal love.

    Melissa, Baxie's mom

  • @dennisrbussey what is the link for the memorial service, i would like to watch it but cant find the link

  • Love you Baxter, Dennis and Melissa...

  • God Bless you Baxter.. enjoy hanging out at the Rainbow Bridge with my Dog Coffy and my Cat Simba... Cant wait to meet you. I know you are running around and having fun in Heaven.. your job on earth is done...I love You.. Rest in Peace Sweetie!!!

  • He's beautiful..

  • Thats no dog.. Thats a lion.. o0
