@vrajesh It can play all the DiVx files for sure, I am not sure about mp4 though...but it should play as there are free video players available in the market which probably may be able to do it..

@midhuncyriac Yes, I got the update one month back. Just contact your local Samsung service center...take your phone there and they will update it in 15 mins...

i recently went to the samsung service center in delhi, the guys there have some bluetooth update for the device....which came to them today only. So be sure to check out service centeres in ur area. They'll possibly give me the update on tuesday as they said!

Very much impressed with your review!! I have couple of questions

1)Is there an update to Android eclair 2.1 avaialable(in india)?

2)what about the camera, i mean how does photography fare with this device.

I guess the v 1.5 doesnt provide anything other than point and shoot. I am eagerly waiting for ur response because if this is going to get an update this will be a damn goood phone(in that budget)!!!

@djremolon The official eclair 2.1 update is expected within couple of weeks, as it is already available in various other countries, unofficial updates are available throught the internet forums.

The camera is not all the great, but with 2.1 update it brings lots of improvements I hear...

GO with SPICA, you will not go wrong :)

@arunpd ohho!!!! I also heard that v 1.5 doesnt support file transfer via bluetooth and colors just 65k!!!! Still a bit curious to know how this would fare with 2.1!!!! Anyways would buy next weekend!!!! Thanx for the updates arun :)

The screen is not Amoled but it is still a capacitative touchscreen with 16M colours and a good resolution.

It's not Amoled, I have seen 2 reviews so far and everyone is saying the screen is Amoled, but in the brochure it's clear that it's not!!

some how I like my nokia 5530 tft screens colors better than my girlfriends samsung jet amoled colors.. amoled save about 10% battery life.. not a big deal to me.. spica have awsome battey and talktime even with tft screen..I am getting galaxy spica.. the white and green spica looks cool.. iphone and htc hd2 have only tft screens. still good phones.. I hope they will make a solar back cover like blue earth have stock..

I tried this phone in the shop and i totally fell in love with it. I first wanted to buy the satio, but not anymore after i touched the Spica. Gotta wait 2 more months though so i reach next bonus stage (so ill get the phone for less money).

Just a few clarifications.

Although the screen is very nice it is TFT LCD and not AMOLED.

If you use GPS, the battery goes for a toss.

The speed on Edge sucks, but thats a network think and the phone is not to be blamed.

DivX... this is not the only phone that plays dixv, its the only android phone that plays divx.

Swype for android is the best keyboard that you can get for this phone.

Doesn't come with a stylus as its designed to be used with your finger. There's radio apps and the picture and video quality are fantastic. And yes the keyboard works in landscape.
