I've seen all your videos and they're very helpful. I think you should make a streets of willow CCW instructional. I'm still not quite sure what the best lines are
I guess it really depends on what type of car you're driving, but I wouldn't be "instructing" people to brake in the chicane or be completely off throttle going into it as you are in this video. I mean, you are literally scrubbing speed or coasting through that entire section...it's dreadfully slow. Use the curbing and physics and go flat on the gas through there...you'll grow hair in places you never thought possible.
Are you talking about 1:25 in the video? Its very much downhill with sharp edges (drop offs that will catch your tire) and a wicked left where everyone spins at the bottom. Remember that I teach people in stock cars. Theres no way Im having students use any gas through there without experience and a good car.
great video. my only thing would be that you can hit the apex on the left hander before the bowl closer. I've done the track in a VW GTI, SCirocco, a Ninja 650, now an F4i and all of them go the fastest when I hit that apex as close as I can because it gets more camber the tighter you are
no, and i believe this is from a racing school they have there u can take a half day class there for 450 and it includes a celica gt from toyota long beach grand prix
The line I teach is the general student line for all cars. I should really do more videos for different drive configurations. In the bowl in a race, I like to stay a bit wider and take a later apex. Also, high horsepower cars will turn in VERY late to turn it into more of a straightaway. Be careful however as there are tons of marbles on the outside.
Thank you for that video. I did notice the low line you took through the bowl and was wondering about that. I drive a Porsche Carrera through there and have been taught by the POC instructors to keep it up a bit higher and to go for a very late apex so I can carry more speed out of the bowl and onto the straight.
great video instruction bud. watching your line at the 1st left hander made me realize i was apexing too early, thus going all the way out to the right which in turn made me struggle to make the next right hander. i ran a 1'33.5xx on my 2nd track day there with an evo 8 mr. stock suspension and tires while weighing a ridiculous 360 lbs +. Colin, i thank you very much for pointing out the obvious.
You weigh 360lbs? How the fuck do you get in a evo MR? With all do respect, I am 215lbs at 6' and my ass barely fit in my old STI seats. Those evo seats are NARROW!
ME TOO! I was not being a smartass or making fun of your size. For all I know you are a giant football player, but I HATED my STI seats. The LGT are firm but big enough for me. Could always find a nice after market drivers seat. Some of the racey off road and roadster types are pretty large. (was thinking about ones for my 4x4)

Note: The burms have been replaced in the downhill S section. They aren't quite flat, but they are much better than the pits that were there before.
